Not necessarily—and LiveReacting’s published documentation does not confirm that it preserves each clip’s native quality when a playlist mixes resolutions. LiveReacting says it can encode uploaded files that do not meet its recommendations, while its plans and settings determine the stream’s output quality. Those facts do not establish how it scales, crops, or otherwise handles a transition between differently sized clips. If consistent quality matters, check the output settings and ask LiveReacting how it treats your specific playlist before relying on it.
What “stream quality” means in a mixed-resolution playlist
There are three separate stages to consider:
- Source resolution: the dimensions of each uploaded video, such as 1280×720 for 720p or 1920×1080 for 1080p.
- Stream output: the resolution and frame rate LiveReacting sends to YouTube, based on the selected plan and stream settings.
- YouTube playback renditions: the versions YouTube makes available to viewers after receiving the stream.
A selected output resolution is not proof that every source clip is sent at its original dimensions or that all clips will look equally detailed. A higher output setting also cannot restore detail that is absent from a lower-resolution source. LiveReacting’s official material reviewed here describes encoding and output options, but not the precise treatment of a mixed-resolution playlist.
What LiveReacting’s documentation confirms
It can encode files outside its recommendations
LiveReacting recommends MP4, M4V, MOV, FLV, WEBM, OGV, 3GP, WMV, AVI, and MKV files, with H.264 video and AAC audio. It says files that do not match its recommended settings may still be uploaded and encoded. That is a general statement about file handling, not a guarantee that mixed-resolution clips retain native quality or switch seamlessly. See LiveReacting’s recommended video file settings.
Output quality depends on plan and settings
LiveReacting’s pricing page lists different output-quality options by plan, including 720p on some tiers and 1080p, with optional 4K and 60 FPS upgrades, on others. Plans can change, so check the current options before choosing one. Its YouTube settings help also says you can set a custom video bitrate or use Auto, which bases the rate on project settings; it recommends 128 Kbps audio unless you know the destination supports a higher input rate. See LiveReacting pricing and YouTube live stream settings.

Recommended source bitrates vary by resolution and frame rate
LiveReacting publishes the following recommended maximum video bitrates for prerecorded files. These are vendor recommendations, not guarantees of viewer quality or evidence of how a mixed-resolution playlist is normalized.
| Source format | LiveReacting-recommended maximum video bitrate |
|---|---|
| 720p (1280×720) at 30 fps | 4 Mbps |
| 720p (1280×720) at 60 fps | 6 Mbps |
| 1080p (1920×1080) at 30 fps | 8 Mbps |
| 1080p (1920×1080) at 60 fps | 12 Mbps |
| 4K (3840×2160) at 30 fps | 30 Mbps |
| 4K (3840×2160) at 60 fps | 35 Mbps |
LiveReacting’s settings page lists these figures as recommendations; its retrieved excerpt did not show a publication or update date. For the current supported file limits and recommendations, consult the official settings page.

How to check a playlist before going live
- Check the plan’s output options. In LiveReacting’s current pricing information and studio settings, confirm the resolution and frame rate you can select. Choose an output suited to your strongest source material and intended stream; a higher output does not add detail to lower-resolution clips.
- Inspect every source clip. Note its resolution, frame rate, aspect ratio, codec, and bitrate. Compare the file format and video/audio codecs with LiveReacting’s recommendations, and check the current per-file size limit for your plan.
- Choose the stream format before starting. LiveReacting’s format article describes landscape (1280×720), square (720×720), and portrait (720×1280) examples and says a live stream’s resolution cannot be changed mid-broadcast. That article is dated January 13, 2020, so verify the available controls in the current studio rather than treating those examples as a current feature list.
- Run a controlled test. If possible, start a private or otherwise controlled YouTube test and check YouTube’s live health indicators as the playlist changes clips. This can reveal problems in the incoming feed, but it cannot by itself confirm how LiveReacting processes each original file.
- Ask LiveReacting about the exact case. A useful question is: “If my playlist contains 720p and 1080p clips, what resolution does the stream send to YouTube, how is each clip scaled or cropped, and do you guarantee consistent transitions?” The reviewed official documentation does not answer those points.
For its format examples, see LiveReacting’s video formats article. Because it dates to 2020, confirm current studio behavior.
What YouTube’s health checks can—and cannot—tell you
YouTube’s diagnostics can flag incoming-feed issues such as unsupported or suboptimal resolution, insufficient video output, and mismatches between primary and backup streams. Its streaming API also describes the resolution and frame rate of the feed YouTube receives, including automatic detection through a variable setting. These checks concern the stream arriving at YouTube; they do not reveal the original dimensions of each prerecorded file or LiveReacting’s internal handling of playlist transitions. See YouTube live encoder settings, bitrates, and resolutions and the YouTube LiveStreams API documentation.
