Random freezes, missing sound and display glitches usually trace back to one bad driver. Find and replace yours safely.Free scan · under a minuteFor a 4K (2160p) 60 fps YouTube Live stream, set the outgoing live encoder to 35 Mbps for AV1 or H.265/HEVC, or 50 Mbps for H.264. YouTube’s listed minimums are 10 Mbps for AV1/HEVC and 14 Mbps for H.264; use the recommended value as your target, not the minimum. These are live-ingest settings for the feed sent to YouTube, not finished-video upload settings. YouTube Help’s current encoder guidance was accessed in 2026.
Recommended bitrate for 4K 60 fps YouTube Live
| Codec sent to YouTube | YouTube-listed minimum | YouTube-recommended bitrate |
|---|---|---|
| AV1 | 10 Mbps | 35 Mbps |
| H.265/HEVC | 10 Mbps | 35 Mbps |
| H.264 | 14 Mbps | 50 Mbps |
These values are YouTube’s live encoder recommendations for 2160p at 60 fps, accessed in 2026. Choose the row for the codec your encoder actually sends; the codec used to create the prerecorded source file does not by itself determine the outgoing live bitrate.
Settings to use in your live encoder
- Protocol: RTMP or RTMPS; YouTube recommends RTMPS.
- Codec: H.264, H.265/HEVC, or AV1, provided your encoder and workflow support the intended codec at 4K60.
- Bitrate mode: Constant bitrate (CBR), as YouTube recommends.
- Keyframes: Set a 2-second keyframe interval. YouTube says not to exceed 4 seconds.
- Frame rate: Up to 60 fps is supported.
- Latency: At 4K, YouTube’s low-latency optimization option is unavailable; the stream uses normal latency. See YouTube’s latency settings guidance.
Use the closest corresponding labels in your encoder; names and locations vary between software and hardware. Confirm the selected output codec and resolution in the encoder rather than assuming they match the source file.
How much upload speed do you need?
YouTube recommends upload capacity with 20% headroom beyond the total stream bitrate, and notes that other people or devices sharing the connection can reduce capacity available to your stream. Applying that margin to a single 50 Mbps H.264 stream gives approximately 60 Mbps of usable upload capacity. That is arithmetic based on YouTube’s 20% recommendation, not a separate YouTube-published speed requirement. The source for the guidance is YouTube’s network preparation guidance.
#1 Best Overall
- 【1080P HD High Quality】Capture resolution up to 1080p for video source and it is ideal for all HDMI devices such as PS4, PS3, Xbox One, Xbox 360, Wii U, DVDs, DSLR, Camera, Security Camera and set top box. Note: Video input supports 4K30/60Hz and 1080p120/144Hz. Does not support 4K120Hz/144Hz. Output supports up to 2K30Hz.
- 【Plug and Play】No driver or external power supply required, true PnP. Once plugged in, the device is identified automatically as a webcam. Detect input and adjust output automatically. Won't occupy CPU, optional audio capture. No freeze with correct setting.
- 【Compatible with Multiple Systems】suitable for Windows and Mac OS. High speed USB 3.0 technology and superior low latency technology makes it easier for you to transmit live streaming to Twitch, Youtube, Facebook, Twitter, OBS, Potplayer and VLC.
- 【HDMI LOOP-OUT】Based on the high-speed USB 3.0 technology, it can capture one single channel HD HDMI video signal. There is no delay when you are playing game live.
- 【Support Mic-in for Commentary】Rybozen capture card has microphone input and you can use it to add external commentary when playing a game. Please note: it only accepts 3.5mm TRS standard microphone headset.
For a 35 Mbps AV1 or HEVC stream, the same calculation gives approximately 42 Mbps of usable capacity. Treat these as capacity targets for the stream plus headroom, not as guarantees that a speed-test result will be continuously available to your encoder. Check that upload capacity is stable while other household or office traffic is active.
Keep live bitrate separate from video-upload bitrate
A prerecorded video sent through YouTube Live is still an outgoing live feed, so use YouTube’s live-ingest bitrate recommendations above. Do not substitute the finished-video upload table: for SDR 2160p at 48, 50, or 60 fps, YouTube recommends 53–68 Mbps for uploading a finished file; for HDR at those frame rates, it recommends 66–85 Mbps. Those figures describe a different workflow. See YouTube’s upload encoding recommendations.

Prepare and check the stream before going live
- Set the outgoing feed. In your encoder or cloud streaming service, select 2160p, 60 fps, the codec you intend to send, its recommended bitrate from the table, CBR, and a 2-second keyframe interval.
- Check the connection. Allow YouTube’s recommended 20% upload headroom beyond total stream bitrate. Account for other devices and concurrent traffic that share the connection.
- Run a representative test. Test with audio and motion similar to the planned stream; a static or silent sample may not reveal issues that occur during the actual program.
- Preview and monitor. Check the feed in YouTube Live Control Room before the event, then monitor video and audio quality while streaming. YouTube’s encoder guidance explicitly says, “Make sure to test before you start your live stream.” See YouTube Help.
Sending prerecorded video as a continuous live stream
You can send prerecorded content through a local hardware or software encoder, or use a cloud service designed to keep a live stream running. YouTube’s verified encoder list includes Gyre for 24/7 live streaming of prerecorded videos, including 4K at 30 or 60 fps; it also lists AWS Elemental MediaLive as a broadcast-grade option supporting live streaming up to 4Kp60 HEVC. These are examples, not requirements. Check the encoder or service’s supported output codec, 4K60 capability, RTMP/RTMPS support, and the upload capacity of the location sending the feed. See YouTube’s verified encoder list.
Or let it run in the cloud
StreamNeo is a YouTube-only cloud service for looping uploaded videos as a 24/7 live stream. Upload a recording or build a playlist, add your YouTube stream key, and go live. Your computer and home connection do not have to stay on. Streams run at the quality uploaded, up to 4K 60 fps, at one flat price per slot; StreamNeo automatically recovers if YouTube drops the stream. The first day is free with no card required. Monthly pricing is $9.99 per month.

Troubleshooting bitrate and stream quality
- The stream drops frames or becomes unstable: Check whether available upload capacity can sustain the selected bitrate plus headroom. Reduce competing network traffic or use a more stable connection; do not assume a speed-test peak is continuously available.
- The configured bitrate does not match YouTube’s recommendation: Verify the outgoing codec, then use the matching value: 35 Mbps for AV1/HEVC or 50 Mbps for H.264 at 4K60. A source-file codec and an encoder’s outgoing codec can differ.
- The feed does not appear as 4K60: Confirm the encoder is actually outputting 2160p at 60 fps and that the selected hardware, software, or service supports that combination. The source material’s resolution alone does not establish the outgoing stream resolution.
- Latency controls are missing: This is expected at 4K; YouTube’s low-latency optimization is unavailable at that resolution.
- Quality problems emerge only during the program: Repeat the test with comparable movement and audio, preview it in Live Control Room, and monitor stream health during the event.
