Choose the format by asking who needs access, how much interaction they need, where they should watch, and whether the recording will be useful afterward.
What businesses use live streaming for
Live streaming puts an organization in front of an audience in real time. It can support marketing, customer education, internal communication, or public programming; the purpose should determine the format and production effort.
Marketing, launches, and product demonstrations
A live launch, product walkthrough, expert Q&A, or branded event gives prospective customers a way to see an offer explained and ask questions. OneStream Live describes brand promotion, live selling, and product launches as use cases; Zoho Webinar lists marketing, product demonstrations, and virtual conferences. These are vendor descriptions of intended uses, not independent evidence that a particular stream will generate leads or sales. OneStream Live’s overview and Zoho Webinar’s industry and use-case page provide those examples.
Customer education and support
Workshops, product training, customer seminars, and question sessions can help explain how a service works or address recurring questions. Zoho lists customer care among the industries it serves and includes product demonstrations and training among its use cases. That describes possible applications, not a measured customer-support outcome.

Ideal for aspiring streamers, game streaming, and content creation, this 4K webcam ensures exceptional experience for you and your audience. Note: Video resolution depends on built-in camera software or apps like PotPlayer/OBS.
- Advanced PDAF Autofocus & Light Balance – 4K webcam S600's PDAF(Phase Detection Autofocus) tech offers significant advantages over common autofocus such as faster speed, higher precision, and more stable performance in various scenes features. Its auto light adjustment capability balances shadows and highlights even in low-light environments, keeping every detail sharp and clear on screen, making it ideal for content creators and live streamers who demand top-tier performance and visual quality.
- Enhanced Audio Clarity & Customizable FOV - The EMEET S600 4K streaming webcam is equipped with premium microphones that use a proprietary algorithm to filter out background noise and capture your voice with exceptional clarity. Noise-canceling feature is enabled by default but can be turned off through the EMEETLINK software. At 1080P, the FOV adjusts 40°-73°, allowing you to focus on you and surroundings, while at 4K, it’s fixed at 73° for better image quality and less distortion.

For those looking to fine-tune image parameters or enhance sound quality, EMEETLINK software is available for advanced customization. Both simplicity and advanced needs can be met effortlessly.
Internal communications, training, and onboarding
Organizations with employees in multiple locations can stream all-hands meetings, leadership updates, company events, and training. Panopto describes live events for employee, partner, and customer audiences, and its enterprise workflow includes automatic recording, captions, and a searchable video library. Those archive features can help staff who miss a session or need to revisit material. See Panopto’s live-streaming overview.
Events and conferences
A streamed workshop, conference, or company event can extend attendance beyond the room. Zoho lists virtual conferences, and Switcher Studio describes live events as a use case. The right setup depends on whether remote viewers should simply watch or take part in a managed session.
Retail and live shopping
A retailer can present products on camera, explain differences, and respond to buyer questions during a live broadcast. OneStream Live identifies live selling and retail as use cases. A live demonstration is most useful when the organization can answer questions accurately and has planned how viewers will find the products being discussed.

Education, community, and nonprofit programming
Online classes, community events, worship, and nonprofit programming can use the same live formats to teach, gather participants, or share mission-related events. These are not always business use cases in the narrow sense, but they may be relevant to organizations that serve customers, members, students, or communities. OneStream Live and Switcher Studio also list examples that extend into these adjacent contexts.
What live-streaming performance figures can—and cannot—tell you
LinkedIn’s article “The Power of Live Event Streaming in B2B Marketing,” published May 7, 2026, reports that B2B organizations pairing LinkedIn Live with paid promotion experienced 131% higher click-through rates, a 19% improvement in post-event engagement rates, and a 1.5x higher likelihood of attendees engaging with future company marketing. These are LinkedIn-reported observations about that specific combination of LinkedIn Live and paid promotion. They are not a universal forecast, an independent cross-industry study, or proof that streaming alone caused the results. Read LinkedIn’s article by Danielle Webb.
The sources cited here do not establish a broadly applicable, independent statistic for the business results of livestreaming across industries. Set success measures for your own objective—for example, attendance and questions for a training session, or qualified follow-up interest for a product event—and evaluate them in context.

Choose a format by audience, interaction, and follow-up
| Decision | Questions to answer | What it changes |
|---|---|---|
| Audience and access | Is the stream public, limited to registrants or customers, or internal to employees? Where should viewers watch: a social destination, webinar page, or company site? | Determines the destination and the access controls the platform must support. |
| Interaction | Should viewers ask questions, participate in a demonstration, or follow a structured session? | A hosted webinar or managed event suits more structured interaction; a one-way stream may be enough for an announcement. |
| Distribution and brand control | Do viewers need to watch on platforms they already use, or should the experience stay on an owned site? | Multistreaming can reach audiences across destinations; a branded or embedded player can keep the viewing experience on an organization’s site. Confirm the selected service supports the destinations and controls you require. OneStream Live discusses multistreaming. |
| After-event value | Will people need a recording? Should it be captioned, organized, or searchable? | Shapes the recording and archive workflow. Panopto describes automatic recording, captions, and a searchable library in its enterprise workflow. See Panopto’s feature description. |
| Operational fit | Who will produce the stream, how complex are the scenes, and what equipment and network are available? | Sets a realistic production scope and rehearsal plan. OBS notes that performance needs vary by encoder, resolution, frame rate, and scene complexity. Review OBS system requirements. |
Prepare the production without overbuying equipment
There is no universal equipment list. Use what the room and existing setup can support, then address specific gaps. A webcam, dedicated microphone or headset, basic lighting, and a wired Ethernet connection can be practical options, not requirements for every organization. Setup guidance from Business News Daily presents common equipment recommendations; OBS’s Quick Start Guide covers adding webcam and microphone sources and testing a configuration.
Rehearse at the intended settings
Meeting a software’s minimum compatibility requirements does not guarantee that a computer will stream or record smoothly. OBS says processing demands depend on the encoder, resolution, frame rate, and scene complexity, and that 60-fps streaming can be more demanding than 30-fps. Run a rehearsal using the actual scenes and intended settings, and check the following before the event:

Common planning mistakes to avoid
- Choosing a platform before deciding whether viewers need public, restricted, or internal access.
- Assuming that a vendor’s listed use cases prove a specific business outcome.
- Buying production equipment without identifying a concrete audio, video, lighting, or connectivity problem.
- Skipping rehearsal or testing at settings different from those planned for the event.
- Failing to decide whether a recording, captions, and an organized archive are part of the deliverable.
