To make a church sermon playlist start over after its final video, turn on YouTube’s Loop or Repeat playlist control. Autoplay is different: it may play a related video rather than return to the first sermon. The exact control depends on whether you’re watching on a computer, phone, TV, game console, or church website.
Loop the playlist on a computer
- Open one of the sermons in the YouTube playlist.
- Expand the playlist panel beside the video.
- Click Loop in the playlist box. The playlist should repeat after its final sermon. See YouTube’s playlist looping instructions.
Loop the playlist on a phone or tablet
- Start playing the playlist in the YouTube app.
- Open or locate the playlist control box beneath the video.
- Tap Loop. Check the control state before leaving playback: tapping again can switch to repeating only the current video, rather than the whole playlist.
Set playlist repeat on a TV or game console
- Select and play the sermon playlist.
- Open the player controls with the remote or controller.
- Select Repeat until the control indicates Repeat • Playlist. A repeat setting for the current video alone will replay one sermon instead of cycling through the list.
Put the playlist on a church website
- In YouTube, open the playlist and select Share, then Embed.
- Copy the embed code and add it to the church website where the player should appear.
- If you want to request automatic playback, YouTube’s embed instructions describe adding
&autoplay=1to the embedded player URL. Autoplay and playlist looping are separate settings; the documented autoplay parameter does not establish that the playlist will restart after its last video. Test the complete playlist on the actual page and device, and verify it returns to sermon one.
Embedded playback has additional constraints. YouTube says age-restricted videos cannot be watched on most third-party websites, and embedded playback requires an HTTP Referer from the enclosing webpage. If you see error 153, check that the page is providing the required Referer. Consult YouTube’s embed guidance.
Why Autoplay may not restart the sermon list
Autoplay is designed to play another related video after a video ends; it is not the control for repeating the current playlist. YouTube describes this behavior in its Autoplay help page. If the next item is a recommendation instead of the first sermon, enable playlist Loop/Repeat.
Test the full playlist before a service
Run the playlist through its final sermon in the same context the congregation will use: the church’s computer browser, mobile device, TV, console, or embedded webpage. Confirm that the next playback returns to the first sermon. On a TV or console, verify the displayed mode says Repeat • Playlist, not repeat for a single video. These checks help catch setting and embed issues; they are not a guarantee of uninterrupted playback in every configuration.

Troubleshoot common looping problems
- A recommended video plays after the final sermon: Autoplay may be active, but playlist Loop/Repeat is not. Turn on the playlist control.
- Only one sermon repeats: Change the repeat mode from single-video repeat to playlist repeat. On a TV or console, look specifically for Repeat • Playlist.
- An embedded sermon will not play: Check whether embedding is allowed and whether the video is age-restricted. Age-restricted videos cannot be watched on most third-party websites.
- An embedded player reports error 153: Check that playback is inside a webpage context that provides an HTTP Referer.
- The playlist does not restart as expected on the church’s device or site: Test the full list in that exact context and confirm the playlist-repeat state. YouTube documents the controls and embed constraints, not a universal promise of continuous playback.
Or let it run in the cloud
