You can run an Urdu podcast as a continuous YouTube livestream from Windows by sending a prepared audio-and-video program through an encoder such as OBS Studio to YouTube Live Control Room. Your channel must be eligible, the PC and internet connection must remain available, and you need a monitoring and recording plan: a Windows setup does not guarantee uninterrupted 24/7 operation, and YouTube may not archive a stream that runs longer than 12 hours.
What you need before you start
- A YouTube channel that is verified and allowed to livestream. YouTube’s eligibility guidance requires no live-streaming restriction in the previous 90 days. Check access in YouTube Studio before configuring the encoder: YouTube live-streaming eligibility and setup.
- A Windows PC, an encoder such as OBS, and a reliable upload connection. YouTube recommends testing the connection with audio and movement similar to the intended broadcast rather than assuming a speed test alone guarantees quality.
- Your Urdu podcast audio and any visuals you plan to broadcast. A static image or simple visual can accompany spoken audio, but make sure you have rights to every element.
- A way to monitor the stream and, if you need a backup, record locally. A microphone is optional if your audio is already recorded; YouTube lists microphones and preamps among equipment used with encoder streams.
Prepare the YouTube livestream and stream key
- Open YouTube Studio and go to Live Control Room. Create or schedule an encoder stream, then copy the stream URL and stream key YouTube provides. YouTube’s setup instructions are at Set up a YouTube live stream with an encoder.
- Treat the stream key like a password. Anyone who has it may be able to send a feed to your stream. Do not publish it or include it in screenshots or public notes.
- If you plan recurring broadcasts, a custom stream key can be reused, according to YouTube’s encoder guidance. Confirm that the correct stream is selected in Live Control Room before each session.
Configure the Windows encoder
Connect OBS to YouTube
- Install and open OBS Studio from its official source. In OBS, open Settings > Stream.
- Select YouTube as the service if it is available, then connect or enter the stream key as prompted. If using a custom RTMP setup, enter the server URL and stream key shown in YouTube Live Control Room.
- Add your podcast audio as an audio input or media source, and add a visual source such as a still image or prepared video. Check that the audio meter responds and that the preview shows the intended scene.
- Save your settings, start the encoder, and check the incoming preview and stream health in Live Control Room. Depending on the stream configuration, you may also need to click Go Live in YouTube.
Choose stable video and audio settings
For H.264, YouTube recommends constant bitrate (CBR) and a keyframe interval of two seconds, not exceeding four seconds. Its published example video bitrates include 3 Mbps for 720p at 30 fps, 5 Mbps for 1080p at 30 fps, and 6 Mbps for 720p at 60 fps. YouTube lists AAC or MP3 audio and recommends 128 Kbps stereo audio. These are YouTube’s published recommendations, not a guarantee that your PC or connection can sustain them. Use a resolution and bitrate your upload connection can handle consistently, especially if other people or devices share the connection. For a speech-focused show, a higher frame rate is not automatically useful; prioritize intelligible audio and a stable feed.
Test, go live, and monitor the broadcast
- Before the public broadcast, run a test using the intended audio, visual scene, resolution, and bitrate. Watch the Live Control Room preview and stream-health indicators.
- Listen for clipping, low volume, silence, or a wrong input. Check for dropped frames or warnings in the encoder and YouTube dashboard.
- Start streaming in OBS and verify that YouTube receives the feed. Click Go Live in Live Control Room if the configured stream requires it.
- Keep a monitoring plan for a continuous broadcast. YouTube’s live tips advise: “Continuously monitor streams for audio and video quality.” A computer, encoder, power supply, or internet connection can fail; the cited guidance does not promise that any Windows PC will stay online indefinitely. Choose between one long stream and shorter sessions
A single long broadcast best preserves continuity, but it is not the safest choice if the YouTube replay must be complete. YouTube says streams under 12 hours can be automatically archived; a stream exceeding 12 hours may not be captured at all. If the replay matters, schedule shorter sessions and keep a local recording as a second copy. If you choose one continuous stream, do not rely on YouTube as the only archive. In OBS, enable local recording before starting if you need a local backup, and check that the recording file is being written and has enough available disk space. A recording stored on the same PC is useful for recovery, but it is not protection against failure of that PC or its storage.
Clear rights for the podcast and its music
You need the rights to livestream and archive the program, including music, intro and outro clips, background tracks, images, and video. YouTube scans live streams for third-party material and can interrupt or terminate a feed if it detects a match. If you have a license for material that triggers Content ID, YouTube advises asking the rights owner to add your channel to its Content ID allowlist. Review YouTube’s Terms of Service and its copyright guidance for live streams.

Speaking Urdu does not change these technical or rights requirements. The important distinction is whether each piece of audio and visual content is yours or properly licensed for both live use and any archived replay.
Troubleshooting common problems

Yes. The encoder can send your prepared audio with a visual source such as a still image; confirm the audio source and preview before going live.

Does YouTube guarantee a replay of a continuous stream?
