Its free tier is limited to screen-sized captures, so it is not a free way to test the documented full-page option. Thumbalizr also announced a backend migration in April 2026; the announcement says existing integrations should remain unchanged, but it does not confirm that every existing account has completed the migration.
What Thumbalizr currently says it supports
Thumbalizr’s homepage invites visitors to submit a URL and register for an API key. That shows the service is still being presented as available; it is not a guarantee that every capture request will succeed.
The API documentation lists a size setting for page-sized or screen-sized captures. Its plan information reserves page-sized, full-page capture for paid memberships. The demo page likewise describes the free option as screen-sized, with a watermark and a fixed 1280 × 1024 browser size. Silver adds full-page capture without a watermark; Gold and Platinum also advertise custom delay and browser dimensions up to 2000 pixels wide and high.
In short, if you need a full-page image, check that the account making the request has a paid tier that permits it. A successful request made with a free account may still produce only a viewport-sized image.

What changed in the 2026 backend migration
In a post dated April 8, 2026, Thumbalizr announced a phased transition from its Browshot-powered backend to ScreenshotCenter. The company said new accounts would use ScreenshotCenter first, then existing accounts would move in batches over the following weeks. It said integrations, API calls, embed codes, and settings would remain unchanged.
That is a migration announcement, not confirmation that every legacy account has switched. Thumbalizr also described newer Firefox rendering and expected speed and reliability improvements, but the post does not provide a benchmark or independently measured uptime figure. It presented additional features such as more capture locations, ad and popup filtering, video, PDF export, and wider device emulation as capabilities to be introduced progressively; check the current account or documentation before relying on any of them.

How to check an existing Thumbalizr API integration
Thumbalizr’s Embed API documentation describes requests to api.thumbalizr.com that require an API key and a token derived from the URL query string and secret. Follow the exact signing and parameter-encoding instructions in the official API documentation, especially for the target URL. Do not treat an HTTP request being sent as proof that an image was created.

For a full-page result, confirm both that the job reaches OK and that the account is entitled to request size=page. A queued request is not yet a completed capture; a failed status should be investigated using the returned error details.
Why a full-page request may not work
- The account is on the free tier. The published plan information limits free captures to screen size. Use an account with a paid tier that includes page-sized capture, or choose a service that explicitly includes full-page shots.
- The result is only one viewport tall. Check that the request uses the documented page-size setting rather than screen size, and verify the plan’s entitlement.
- The request is queued or failed. Read
X-Thumbalizr-Statusand, on failure,X-Thumbalizr-Error; do not assume a requested capture has completed. - Authentication or URL encoding is wrong. Recheck the API key, the token calculation using the secret, and encoding of the target URL against the current documentation.
- Your legacy account behaves differently after the announced migration. The announcement says migration is phased, not that it is complete for every account. Confirm account status with Thumbalizr if a previously working integration changes behavior.

Thumbalizr’s features page displays the following quotas and monthly prices. The page is not visibly dated, so confirm current availability, currency, billing terms, and quotas before subscribing.
