1Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errors2Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minute3Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsTo preview a website at the current 8.3-inch iPad mini’s portrait size, set a viewport of 744 × 1133 points and a pixel ratio of 2x. On a Mac, Safari’s Responsive Design Mode lets you set those values and capture the preview. For a whole-page image, Chrome DevTools offers “Capture a full size screenshot.” These are browser simulations, not proof of how a real iPad mini will render or behave.
Use the current iPad mini viewport dimensions
Apple lists the current 8.3-inch iPad mini at 744 × 1133 points in portrait, or 1133 × 744 points in landscape. Its listed physical resolution is 1488 × 2266 pixels at 2x, with a density of 326 ppi. The viewport dimensions describe the layout size; the 2x ratio describes the relationship between layout units and physical pixels. These specifications apply to Apple’s current 8.3-inch model, not necessarily older iPad mini generations. See Apple’s iPad mini dimensions in the Human Interface Guidelines.
Capture the page in Safari Responsive Design Mode
-
Open Safari on macOS. If the Develop menu is missing, enable Show features for web developers in Safari’s Advanced settings.
-
Open the website, then select Develop > Enter Responsive Design Mode, or press Control-Command-R.

Apple documents the Responsive Design Mode controls and shortcut in its Responsive Design Mode guide. The interface previews a page at chosen dimensions and pixel ratio; it does not turn a Mac into an iPad.
Capture a full-page screenshot in Chrome
Chrome DevTools Device Mode can simulate a responsive viewport. To include the full scrollable page rather than just the visible viewport, open DevTools’ screenshot menu and choose Capture a full size screenshot. Menu placement may change between Chrome versions. Chrome’s guide to Device Mode explains the simulation controls.
Choose the capture method according to the output you need: a viewport screenshot records what is visible, while a full-size capture includes content beyond the fold. Neither mode guarantees that Safari on an actual iPad will match Chrome’s rendering.

Know what a simulated screenshot can and cannot show
Apple describes Responsive Design Mode presets as a good approximation, not an exact representation of layout, rendering, and behavior on a device. Safari on iOS or iPadOS may differ from macOS, particularly in form fields and interaction behavior. The address bar, software keyboard, orientation, and browser version can also change what a person sees. WebKit likewise notes the differences between iOS/iPadOS and macOS form factors and interaction models in its guidance for designing for iOS devices.
Apple recommends using Open with Simulator from Responsive Design Mode for a more accurate Apple-platform preview. If a decision depends on device-specific behavior—such as a form with the keyboard open—check in Simulator and, where practical, on a physical iPad mini. A screenshot at 744 × 1133 points establishes only that the page was previewed at those dimensions; it does not establish identical behavior across every model, Safari release, orientation, or browser-chrome state.

-
Develop is missing in Safari: enable Show features for web developers in Safari’s Advanced settings, then open the Develop menu again.
-
The preview is the wrong size: verify that the custom dimensions are in the intended orientation: 744 × 1133 for portrait, 1133 × 744 for landscape. Confirm the pixel ratio separately; 2x is density, not a reason to double the viewport dimensions.
