To stream prerecorded pranayama classes continuously on YouTube Live, load the recordings into an OBS Studio playlist, connect OBS to your YouTube Live event with its current stream URL and key, then start the encoder and verify YouTube’s preview. For a sequence, use OBS’s VLC Video source with Loop Playlist; for one recording, use a Media Source with Loop. This keeps the media repeating, but your computer, OBS, files, and internet connection must remain available for the broadcast to continue.
Before you set up the stream
Check encoder eligibility
YouTube’s general live-stream requirements include a verified channel, no live-streaming restriction in the previous 90 days, and meeting its minimum age requirement of 16. First-time activation can take up to 24 hours, so do not leave channel setup until the moment you plan to go live. See YouTube’s live-streaming eligibility guidance.
Mobile live streaming has additional requirements, including a subscriber threshold and supported device. Those mobile requirements do not automatically apply to an OBS encoder stream. YouTube lists India as a supported location for mobile live streaming, but its encoder instructions do not specify a separate India-only setup. See YouTube’s mobile live-streaming requirements.
Prepare recordings and permissions
Keep the class videos available as local media files on the computer running OBS. Before streaming, make sure you have the rights needed for each recording, soundtrack, and other included material in the territories where viewers may watch. A recording being available online or licensed for another use does not, by itself, establish permission to rebroadcast it live.

Choose one recording or a playlist
- One recording: Add it as an OBS Media Source and enable its Loop control.
- Several recordings: Add an OBS VLC Video source, load the files in the intended order, and enable Loop Playlist to restart after the final file.
The VLC Video source requires VLC to be installed. OBS documents both approaches in its Media Sources guide.
Set up OBS and YouTube Live
- Install and open OBS Studio. Install VLC as well if you intend to use a VLC Video source and it is not already available.
- Add the prerecorded media. In your OBS scene, add a VLC Video source for a multi-file class sequence, or a Media Source for one file. Select the video files in the order you want them to play. For VLC Video, enable Loop Playlist; for Media Source, enable Loop. Choose shuffle only if you want the class order to vary between plays.
- Check what viewers will hear and see. Confirm the video displays correctly and the audio is audible in OBS. A microphone is only needed if an instructor will speak live over the recordings; it is not inherently required for prerecorded playback. Add or configure one only if your class format calls for live narration.
- Create or schedule the YouTube stream. In YouTube Studio’s Live Control Room, create or schedule a stream for an encoder. Scheduling can present the stream as upcoming and let viewers set reminders. YouTube’s encoder workflow is described in Create a YouTube live stream with an encoder.
- Connect OBS with the event’s current credentials. Copy the server URL and stream key shown for the intended stream in YouTube Studio, then enter them in OBS’s stream settings. Treat the key like a password: use the key for the correct channel and event, and do not share it publicly.
- Start the encoder before the public broadcast. Start streaming from OBS, then check the incoming preview and stream health in YouTube Studio. Begin the public broadcast only after the preview, picture, and audio look right.
- Choose whether viewers can pause. Review the event’s DVR setting in YouTube Studio. When enabled, viewers can pause and resume the live stream; decide whether that suits a continuous class playlist. YouTube explains this and other event options in Manage live stream settings.
- Monitor the live session. Watch the stream’s picture and audio, and keep an eye on stream health. YouTube recommends testing before going live and monitoring while streaming; see its live-streaming tips.
Understand what “continuous” means
Loop Playlist restarts the media sequence; it does not keep the broadcast online if the computer shuts down, OBS closes, a local file becomes unavailable, or the network fails. This do-it-yourself setup depends on the computer, OBS, media files, and internet connection continuing to work. YouTube’s encoder guidance says streams under 12 hours are automatically archived; confirm current duration limits and archive behavior in Studio before relying on a recording of a long session. See YouTube’s encoder instructions.

Protect the stream from copyright interruptions
YouTube scans live streams for third-party content. If it detects material, the stream may show a placeholder, be interrupted, or be terminated. For licensed material, YouTube says the rights owner may need to add your channel to its Content ID allowlist; having a license alone may not prevent an interruption. Review YouTube’s guidance on copyright issues with live streams.
YouTube’s livestream terms state that the provider represents it has necessary rights for worldwide exploitation of live content, including music licensing rights, and satisfies applicable territory requirements. This platform statement is not a complete guide to Indian copyright law and does not determine whether a particular class recording or track is cleared. Check permissions for the exact recordings, music, and territories involved; see YouTube’s livestream terms.

Troubleshoot common problems
- The VLC Video source is missing: Install VLC, then reopen OBS and check the source options again. For a single recording, use Media Source with Loop instead.
- The playlist stops at the last video: Check that the source is VLC Video and Loop Playlist is enabled. A single Media Source uses its own Loop control.
- YouTube does not show an incoming preview: Confirm that OBS is using the server URL and stream key for the intended event, then check that streaming has actually started in OBS. Recheck the credentials in YouTube Studio if needed.
- The stream cannot be activated: Check channel verification and whether a live-stream restriction was applied in the previous 90 days. If this is the channel’s first activation, allow up to 24 hours.
- Video or audio is missing or incorrect: Inspect the OBS preview and audio meters before going public, then verify YouTube’s incoming preview. Confirm the chosen media files and their playback in OBS.
- The broadcast is interrupted despite looping media: Check whether the computer, OBS, local files, or network became unavailable. The playlist loop does not provide broadcast recovery.
- YouTube interrupts a stream containing licensed material: A license may not prevent Content ID action; ask the rights owner about adding the channel to its allowlist and resolve the rights issue before restarting.
