Use Watch Later or another playlist to keep videos saved for later; use the queue to line up what plays next in your current viewing session. On a computer, YouTube says the queue will not be saved after you close the browser. You can save a queue to a playlist if you want to keep its videos.
Playlist vs. queue: what each one does
| What you want to do | Use | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Play selected videos next in your current session | Queue | It arranges what plays next without interrupting the video you are watching. On a computer, the queue does not persist after you close the browser. |
| Find a video and watch it later | Watch Later | It is a YouTube playlist intended for videos you want to find later. |
| Build a reusable, organized collection | A playlist | Playlists collect videos and can be managed and assigned visibility settings. |
YouTube describes a playlist as a collection of videos. A private playlist is visible only to its owner. YouTube Help: Create & manage playlists
