To stop clips repeating back-to-back in an OBS-powered YouTube livestream, inspect the OBS source that supplies the video. In a VLC Video source, remove duplicate playlist entries and turn off Shuffle Playlist if you want clips to play in their listed order. For a single-file Media Source, check its separate Loop setting. YouTube’s player Loop control affects what a viewer watches; it does not control the video OBS sends to your live stream.
Find which source controls the video
In OBS, select the scene that is actually going live and inspect its Sources list. The video may come from a single-file Media Source or from a multi-item VLC Video source. They have different playback controls, so identify the source before changing settings. OBS describes VLC Video as supporting a playlist of items, unlike Media Source. OBS media sources documentation
If the source is Media Source
Open the source’s properties and confirm that its file path points to the intended video. Check Loop: when enabled, it repeats that individual file after playback completes. It does not manage a queue of different clips.
If the source is VLC Video
Open the source’s properties and review the playlist. This source can contain multiple media items, so it is the place to look when a sequence repeats unexpectedly.

Remove repeats and set the playlist order
- Review every playlist row. In the VLC Video source properties, check filenames and URLs for the same clip appearing more than once. Remove entries that should play only once. OBS documents an editable playlist, but does not document automatic duplicate detection.
- Set the order. Turn Shuffle Playlist off if clips should play in the order shown in the list. Shuffle changes playback order; it does not identify or remove duplicates.
- Decide whether the list should restart. Set Loop Playlist according to whether the whole playlist should begin again after its final item. This setting repeats the list as a whole; it is not a no-repeat filter.
- Check the outgoing program. Preview the actual OBS program output before relying on the revised sequence for a continuous stream. A settings change alone does not establish that the stream will run continuously or guarantee how clips transition.
Why YouTube’s Loop button does not fix an OBS playlist
YouTube’s Loop control is for repeat viewing in the YouTube player. A viewer can right-click a video and choose Loop, or use the Loop control for a playlist. That changes playback for the viewer; it does not alter the source or playlist feeding an OBS livestream. YouTube Help: loop videos or playlists
The same distinction applies to embedded YouTube players: the IFrame Player API’s loop parameter controls embedded playback, not OBS. For a single embedded video, Google’s documentation says to set loop=1 and include that same video ID in the playlist parameter. YouTube IFrame Player API parameters

Troubleshooting when clips still repeat
- The same clip appears twice in the sequence: inspect the complete VLC Video playlist, including URLs and alternate copies of a file, and remove unintended repeated entries.
- The order changes between plays: turn off Shuffle Playlist. With shuffle enabled, the displayed list order is not the playback order.
- One file keeps starting again: check whether the source is a Media Source and whether its Loop setting is enabled. That control repeats the single file.
- The entire sequence starts again: check Loop Playlist on the VLC Video source. It restarts the playlist after the list is exhausted.
- VLC Video is missing from the source options: OBS requires VLC to be installed for this source to appear. Match VLC’s architecture to OBS: OBS says 64-bit OBS requires 64-bit VLC. OBS media sources documentation
- The YouTube watch page repeats, but OBS settings look unchanged: distinguish viewer-side YouTube playback from the source configured in the OBS scene. The player’s Loop control is not an OBS playlist setting.
