Screenshot.Rocks is useful for making a framed image of the first screen of a public webpage, but the available evidence does not establish how often its captures succeed across the wider web. Its own documentation identifies login walls, local addresses, slow loads, and automated-browser blocking as limitations. That is a description of known boundaries—not proof that the service is generally unreliable, and not an independent reliability test.
What Screenshot.Rocks captures
The online tool captures the first screen of a public webpage and places it in a browser frame. It does not capture the page below the visible viewport. Screenshot.Rocks describes its desktop capture as a 1440 × 800 viewport at 2× density, producing an image of 2880 × 1600 pixels. Its mobile capture uses a 375 × 812 viewport at 3× density, producing 1125 × 2436 pixels. These are vendor-published dimensions, not measures of capture accuracy or reliability. The website tool is described as free and requiring no account. Its browser extension has a different job: it captures the visible portion of the current tab at the display’s full resolution and opens the image in the editor. It is not a full-page capture. The extension page says Chrome and Edge request only the activeTab permission; after the user clicks, the screenshot is sent to Screenshot.Rocks to open in the editor and is not stored. Search listings have also described Firefox availability, but the extension page’s current availability could not be confirmed for Firefox; check the relevant store before relying on it.
How reliable are the online captures?
Screenshot.Rocks says its server loads a webpage as a first-time visitor. The company lists a mistyped address, a page taking too long to load, and a site blocking automated browsers among the reasons a capture can fail. Because the server does not share your browser’s state, it cannot see content behind a login or a local address such as localhost. Source: Screenshot.Rocks website.

Those limits matter for dashboards, local development and staging sites, authenticated pages, or pages that require a particular interaction before showing the content you want. For those situations, Screenshot.Rocks recommends capturing in your own browser and importing the image, or using its extension for the visible tab.
No independent, reproducible capture-success benchmark was established in the available sources. There is therefore no supported percentage for how often Screenshot.Rocks works across sites, browsers, or dynamic-page conditions. A store rating is not a capture-success rate: the Chrome Web Store listing displayed version 1.1, an update date of September 10, 2024, 4.8 stars from 13 ratings, and 2,000 users. Those listing figures can change and say nothing directly about capture reliability. Source: Google Chrome Web Store listing data, as displayed in 2024/current listing.

Does it capture the full page?
No. The online tool captures the first screen, and the extension captures only the visible portion of the current browser tab. Neither is presented as a full-page archiver.

- Banners and sticky headers can obscure page content.
- Device resolution affects image sharpness.
- Very tall pages may exceed browser image-height limits.
What does its privacy information say?
Screenshot.Rocks’ homepage says images are processed in the browser and are never stored on its servers. Its privacy policy says uploaded images are not stored and image manipulation happens client-side. The policy also discloses Google Analytics, cookies, and logs that may include IP address, browser type, ISP, timestamps, referring and exit pages, and possibly click counts. These are the site’s own statements, not the result of an independent privacy audit. Source: Screenshot.Rocks privacy policy.
The extension page makes a separate disclosure: a screenshot is sent to Screenshot.Rocks to open in the editor and is not stored. Transmission and storage are different questions; “not stored” does not mean the image is never transmitted. Source: Screenshot.Rocks extension page.

When Screenshot.Rocks is a reasonable fit
- Use the online tool when you need a quick framed image of the initial view of a public page.
- Use the extension when the page is already open in your browser and you need its visible state.
- Use a browser-native full-page capture when you need content below the fold, while checking for lazy images, overlays, and image-height limits.
- Use a local-browser workflow for pages that require a login, are on localhost, or depend on an interaction state that a first-time server visit cannot see.
To compare capture workflows fairly, use the same pages and conditions. Check whether each captures the first screen or full page, whether it can access the same logged-in or local state, how it handles slow loads and automation blocks, what dimensions it produces, whether image content is transmitted or stored, and whether it can capture a chosen interaction state.
