For a 1080p prerecorded video in Gyre, use 1920×1080, H.264, 30 FPS, 3072–6144 kbps video bitrate, and 128 kbps audio bitrate, following Gyre’s published preparation guide. Those are source-file settings—not YouTube’s live encoder bitrate recommendations. YouTube currently recommends 14 Mbps for 1080p30 H.264 live ingest and 17 Mbps for 1080p60 H.264 live ingest.

Gyre’s 1080p source-file settings

Gyre’s workflow uses prerecorded files uploaded to Gyre storage. Its guide says to prepare or convert the video before starting a stream and lists these HD/Full HD targets. The guide was updated one year before access; it does not show an exact publication date.

File setting Gyre’s published target
Resolution 1920×1080 for Full HD; 1280×720 as an HD alternative
Video codec H.264
Video bitrate 3072–6144 kbps
Audio bitrate 128 kbps
Frame rate 30 FPS

Gyre names Adobe Premiere Pro, DaVinci Resolve, and Final Cut Pro as possible desktop tools for optimizing or converting a file; it does not require a particular application. Its guide also says files must be uploaded to Gyre storage, including content that was previously on your YouTube channel or came from a playlist. See Gyre’s video preparation guide.

About the frame-rate and audio-rate wording

Gyre’s guide lists “FPS 30” and later contains the phrase “Frame rates 44.1 kHz.” Since kHz is an audio sample-rate unit, not a video frame-rate unit, do not use that phrase as a frame-rate instruction. YouTube identifies 44.1 kHz as a stereo audio sample rate in its encoder settings.

Why YouTube’s bitrate recommendation is different

YouTube’s bitrate table is for the live encoder sending a stream to YouTube, not the bitrate of a prerecorded file prepared for Gyre. YouTube’s H.264 recommendations for 1080p live ingest, accessed on October 3, 2026, are:

YouTube H.264 live ingest Minimum bitrate Recommended bitrate
1080p at 30 FPS 5 Mbps 14 Mbps
1080p at 60 FPS 6 Mbps 17 Mbps

These figures are not interchangeable with Gyre’s 3072–6144 kbps source-file range. Keep the two contexts separate: set up the prerecorded source to Gyre’s file guidance, and use YouTube’s live-ingest table when configuring an encoder that sends video directly to YouTube. YouTube says it transcodes live streams into multiple output formats for viewers.

YouTube’s table also lists different rates for AV1 and H.265, but those are not H.264 settings. Its general guidance includes RTMP/RTMPS, CBR, up to 60 FPS, and a recommended two-second keyframe interval that should not exceed four seconds. For stereo audio, YouTube lists 128 kbps and a 44.1 kHz sample rate. Consult YouTube’s live encoder settings and bitrate guidance for the full codec and format table.

Prepare and check a Gyre video before launch

  1. Choose the source format. For Full HD, prepare 1920×1080 H.264 at 30 FPS, with video bitrate in Gyre’s published 3072–6144 kbps range and audio at 128 kbps. If the source is 720p, Gyre lists 1280×720 as an HD alternative.
  2. Use a local copy to prepare the file. Gyre’s guide says to have the file locally before uploading it to Gyre storage. Use a video editor or conversion application if the source needs to be optimized to the stated values.
  3. Upload the file to Gyre storage. Gyre’s prerecorded-video workflow streams uploaded files; a YouTube URL or playlist does not replace the required upload.
  4. Review file checks in Gyre. Gyre’s current product update describes prelaunch checks of file parameters and an optimization path for files that do not meet requirements. The exact controls may vary in the current interface, so verify the available prompts in your account. See Gyre’s update on live-stream automation.
  5. Test the stream before relying on it. YouTube recommends testing with audio and movement similar to the planned stream, checking available upload speed, and monitoring stream health and messages during a live event. If you are configuring a separate encoder-to-YouTube stream, the ingest bitrate must be sustainable by your upload connection.

Troubleshoot common 1080p issues

The video looks softer than expected

Check that the source is actually 1920×1080 and that its bitrate falls within Gyre’s listed range. A 1280×720 source remains HD, but it is not Full HD. Also check the YouTube stream’s health and allow for YouTube’s viewer-side transcoding; a 1080p source does not mean every viewer receives the same rendition.

The source plays, but the stream drops or struggles

For a direct encoder-to-YouTube setup, compare the configured bitrate with YouTube’s H.264 minimum and recommended values for the selected resolution and frame rate, then test the available upload capacity. YouTube recommends monitoring stream health and messages rather than assuming the selected setting is sustainable.

The file does not pass Gyre’s checks

Recheck resolution, codec, frame rate, and bitrates against Gyre’s published file targets. Use the optimization workflow shown in Gyre if its current interface flags a parameter; its product update describes checks and an optimization path, but does not establish a universal set of click-by-click controls.

The audio rate is confused with frame rate

Use 30 FPS for Gyre’s stated video target. Treat 44.1 kHz as an audio sample rate, not a frame rate; YouTube lists it for stereo audio.
