For a live website screenshot API, ScreenshotOne is the more direct fit: its documented core is rendering websites into captures, with controls such as full-page and element capture. APITemplate.io is aimed at generating PDFs and images from templates or supplied content, including HTML, public URLs, and Markdown; the reviewed documentation does not establish it as a like-for-like website screenshot API. If you want another screenshot-focused option to try first, ScreenshotNeo offers clean captures and bills only clean shots.
At a glance: screenshot capture or document generation?
| Need | Better documented fit | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Capture a live website as an image | ScreenshotOne | Its documented product centers on website rendering and screenshot-oriented controls. |
| Generate a reusable branded PDF or image | APITemplate.io | Its APIs focus on template-driven PDF and image generation. |
| Make a PDF from content you provide | Either, depending on workflow | ScreenshotOne documents PDF output; APITemplate.io documents template, HTML, public-URL, and Markdown PDF workflows. |
| Extract rendered page content | ScreenshotOne | Its product guide also describes returning rendered HTML, Markdown, and metadata. |
The overlap in output formats does not mean the products have feature parity. Decide first whether the input is an existing site to capture or content and data to turn into a designed document or image.
What ScreenshotOne documents
ScreenshotOne presents itself as a hosted website-rendering API for developers, automation workflows, and AI agents. Its product guide describes website screenshots, PDFs, and videos, plus rendered HTML, Markdown, and metadata. The options documentation covers full-page and element captures, output formats, delays, and rendering controls. Its homepage also describes ad and cookie-banner blocking, lazy-load handling, custom screen sizes, and CSS and JavaScript customization. See its product guide, options documentation, and homepage.
GPU rendering is an optional request documented for top-tier paid plans, and ScreenshotOne cautions that GPU support is not guaranteed. Confirm plan eligibility and current terms if GPU rendering matters to your workflow.

APITemplate.io describes two APIs—PDF Generation and Image Generation—for tasks such as automated documents, reports, certificates, social visuals, and branded assets. Its PDF documentation lays out four inputs: reusable templates, raw HTML when you control the markup and CSS, public URLs, and Markdown. It documents Chromium-based rendering, dynamic template data, page controls, synchronous and asynchronous jobs, and webhook notifications. The integration guide covers REST API, official SDKs, no-code platforms, generic HTTP integration, direct image-generation URLs, and webhooks. See the homepage, PDF generation methods, and integration overview.
#1 Best Overall
URL-to-PDF is a documented APITemplate.io workflow, but that alone does not establish the same screenshot-specific controls as a website capture API. If you need viewport screenshots, element selection, or screenshot cleanup, verify the precise endpoint behavior before choosing it.
Compare the workflow, not just the output extension
Input and job type
- Choose ScreenshotOne when the source is a live web page and the job is to render or capture that page, or when rendered page content and metadata are useful.
- Choose APITemplate.io when your application supplies structured data for a reusable business document or visual, or when you want a PDF from supplied HTML or Markdown.
Output requirements
List the required final formats before comparing plans. ScreenshotOne documents screenshots, PDFs, videos, HTML, Markdown, and metadata; APITemplate.io documents PDF and image generation. Confirm that the exact output, quality, and options you need are available on the plan you intend to use; output availability should not be assumed to be identical across plans.
Rank #2
Layout and rendering controls
For website captures, compare viewport size, full-page behavior, element selection, load timing, and whether ads or cookie banners should be removed. For generated documents, check template reuse, dynamic data, page size and other page controls, orientation, headers and footers, and control over HTML/CSS. The vendors’ documentation describes different centers of gravity, so test the details that affect your output rather than treating “renders a URL” as equivalent behavior.
Integration and throughput
Evaluate the request style and authentication, language or SDK support, no-code connections, synchronous versus asynchronous processing, webhooks, rate limits, monthly units, caching, and overage behavior. ScreenshotOne documents GET and POST calls to its /take API. APITemplate.io documents REST API calls using an X-API-KEY header, plus asynchronous document generation with webhook notification. Its direct URL option is for image generation and does not mean every endpoint accepts credentials or inputs in the same way. See ScreenshotOne’s getting-started documentation and APITemplate.io’s integration overview.
Pricing and reliability: what can be compared
ScreenshotOne’s pricing page, accessed in 2026, lists the following monthly plans. Prices, quotas, and feature eligibility can change, so check the live page before committing.
Rank #3
| ScreenshotOne plan | Listed price | Listed monthly screenshots | Request starts per minute |
|---|---|---|---|
| Free | Free | 100 | Not stated for this plan in the cited pricing figures |
| Basic | $17/month | 2,000 | 40 |
| Growth | $79/month | 10,000 | 80 |
| Scale | $259/month | 50,000 | 150 |
ScreenshotOne says prices exclude VAT. Plans have different features and extra-usage prices; its pricing page also describes failed requests with HTTP, browser, or network errors as not counting, while successfully rendered captures with visual problems can count. Cache behavior affects quota use, and extra usage can be enabled with a configured hard limit. Check the current pricing page for the full plan terms.
APITemplate.io pricing is not established by the official pages cited here, so there is no supported basis for saying which service is cheaper. Compare the current cost at your real monthly volume, including the units counted, rate limits, required features, caching, and overages.
No independent head-to-head performance or reliability benchmark is established here. ScreenshotOne’s homepage reports vendor metrics, including 99.957% uptime over the last 30 days, 3,800+ active developers, and 6.8M+ screenshots rendered, accessed in 2026. These are vendor-reported figures, not independent measurements or a comparison with APITemplate.io. For a production decision, exercise both candidates with representative sites or document inputs and record rendering failures, output differences, latency, and cost under your own workload.

- Start with ScreenshotOne if your central requirement is capturing live websites and you need screenshot-specific rendering controls. Its documented feature scope is the closer match.
- Start with APITemplate.io if the central job is creating repeatable PDFs or images from template data, HTML, Markdown, or a public URL.
- Test both workflows if you need a mix of live-site capture and templated document generation; shared PDF output is not enough to establish that one replaces the other.
For a screenshot API alternative to try first, ScreenshotNeo removes cookie/consent banners, newsletter popups, and chat widgets before capture, with each cleanup step optional, and bills only clean shots. Its API also offers an MCP server for AI-agent clients. The article’s code example and current settings are in the ScreenshotNeo documentation.
