To save website screenshots to Google Drive with Zapier, create a Zap that captures a URL with a screenshot action, then sends that action’s file output to Google Drive’s Upload File action. Choose a trigger, map the screenshot file into Drive, set its folder and filename, test that the image opens, and publish the Zap.
Build the Zap: capture first, upload second
- Choose a trigger. Use a schedule for recurring snapshots, a screenshot provider’s new-screenshot or change-notification trigger for event-driven captures, or another event that supplies the webpage URL.
- Add a screenshot action. Select a connected provider and map the target webpage into its required URL field. Configure full-page capture, viewport or width, and any wait or page-specific settings the page needs.
- Add Google Drive’s Upload File action. Map the screenshot step’s file output to the Drive file field. Do not assume every provider returns the same type of file or link; select the actual file output shown in the Zap editor.
- Set the destination and name. Choose the Drive account and folder, then enter a descriptive filename. For an archive of repeated captures, use a pattern such as
site-or-project_YYYY-MM-DD_HH-mm.ext. - Test and publish. Run the Zap on a representative page. Check the captured URL and page state, whether it is full-page or viewport-sized as intended, the output format, the destination folder and filename, and whether the uploaded file opens for its intended audience. Publish only after these checks pass.
Zapier describes GetScreenshot’s Take Website Screenshot action as making a capture available to a following action, while Google Drive’s Upload File action copies a file from another service to Drive. The steps are separate: the capture action creates the file, and the Drive action stores it. See GetScreenshot’s Zapier integration and Google Drive’s Zapier integration.
Choose the trigger and organize repeated captures
Scheduled snapshots
For a regular archive, start the Zap with a schedule trigger or use a screenshot provider’s recurring-capture feature if available in your connected account. Zapier’s example workflow pairs Schedule by Zapier and CustomJS with Google Drive to capture a specified URL daily and store the image. See Zapier’s scheduled screenshot-to-Drive example.
Page-change or new-screenshot events
If the goal is to store a capture when a page changes or a provider creates a new screenshot, PagePixels’ Zapier listing includes New Screenshot and New Change Notification triggers. See PagePixels Screenshots on Zapier.

- Easily store and access 2TB to content on the go with the Seagate Portable Drive, a USB external hard drive
- Designed to work with Windows or Mac computers, this external hard drive makes backup a snap just drag and drop
- To get set up, connect the portable hard drive to a computer for automatic recognition no software required
- This USB drive provides plug and play simplicity with the included 18 inch USB 3.0 cable
- The available storage capacity may vary.
Folders, filenames, and metadata
For larger archives, use Drive’s folder tools to find or create a destination before uploading. A Zapier template shows a pattern that captures a webpage, finds or creates a Drive folder, uploads a JPG with a timestamped filename, and updates metadata or access. See Google Drive’s Zapier integration and Zapier’s Drive workflow examples.
Use a page label plus date and time when you want to retain each run. If you want one current image rather than an archive, design and test a replacement/update workflow separately; do not assume that uploading a repeated filename will replace the previous file.

Pick a screenshot action for the page you need to capture
Provider controls differ, so choose based on how the target page behaves and what the next Drive step receives. The Zapier listings describe the following options:
| Zapier-connected option | Relevant capabilities listed | Good fit when |
|---|---|---|
| GetScreenshot | Take Website Screenshot; required Website URL and Full Page Capture; width, highlighted phrase, extra wait, custom CSS, or PDF output. Advanced element capture requires a CSS selector. The listing notes a Starter plan is needed for Zaps with three or more steps. | You need a basic capture action with optional CSS, waiting, or element capture. Check the connected account’s plan before building a multi-step Zap. |
| PagePixels Screenshots | Instant and recurring screenshot actions; New Screenshot and New Change Notification triggers; page dimensions, full-page capture, waits, format/quality, CSS or JavaScript injection, cookies, and headers. | You want recurring captures or a provider event to trigger filing in Drive. |
| ScreenshotOne | Take Website Screenshot and Render Animated or Scrolling Website Screenshot; the latter lists format, response type, scroll delay, viewport dimensions, hidden selectors, delay, timeout, and wait-until settings. | A page needs scrolling or animated capture behavior, subject to the options exposed by the connected Zapier action. |
| HTML to Image | Convert URL to Image (Screenshot a Website), with full-page capture, wait seconds, image quality, and optional image URL generation. | You want a URL-to-image action with those listed capture controls. |
These are integration-listing capabilities, not a guarantee that every control, trigger, plan allowance, or output is available to every Zapier account. Confirm the current action fields and test against the actual page. Compare full-page support, JavaScript wait behavior, element or scrolling capture, trigger options, and whether the resulting output is a file that Drive can upload.

For GetScreenshot, Zapier’s listing notes a Starter plan requirement for Zaps with three or more steps. Plan rules, quotas, and account eligibility can change, so check them in the connected Zapier and provider accounts before relying on a particular workflow.
Handle dynamic and login-protected pages carefully
A page that fills in content after its initial load may need an added wait, a full-page setting, or a provider-specific selector or interaction. Use the smallest wait and the most specific page condition that reliably captures the intended state, then test it; waiting longer than necessary can make an automation slower without fixing a page that needs a particular element or interaction.

Do not assume a screenshot integration can safely or reliably bypass login. GetScreenshot labels its bypass-login instruction experimental, while PagePixels lists multi-step actions and custom cookies. Confirm that automated access is permitted for the target site, and test with the actual page and account. Avoid putting credentials into a Zap unless you understand where the connected service stores and uses them.

- Drive receives a URL instead of a file: Return to the mapping for Upload File and choose the screenshot action’s file output, not a page URL or unrelated link field. Retest and confirm the provider exposes a usable file output.
- The screenshot is blank or misses content: Check that the mapped URL is correct, then try the provider’s full-page setting, wait option, or page-specific selector. Inspect the source page in a normal browser to determine whether the content appears only after interaction or login.
- The capture is cropped: Confirm whether full-page capture is enabled or whether the action is using viewport dimensions. Adjust the width or page dimensions exposed by that action and run another test.
- The Zap test succeeds but the file is in the wrong place: Verify the Drive account, destination folder, and filename fields in the upload step. If using a folder lookup or creation step, ensure the upload maps to the folder returned by that step.
- The file will not open or has the wrong format: Check the screenshot action’s selected output format and whether it is deliberately returning a PDF or image URL rather than a file. Re-test with the intended format and map the resulting file output into Drive.
- A trigger does not run as expected: Confirm the trigger type and its account connection. For a schedule, verify the configured schedule; for a provider event, check that the provider actually emits the event for the page in question.
- Zapier blocks a multi-step workflow or an action is unavailable: Check the current plan requirements and available actions in your connected account. The GetScreenshot listing specifically notes a Starter plan requirement for Zaps with three or more steps; other plan limits may also vary.
Frequently asked questions
Can a Zap save a PDF instead of an image?
Yes, if the selected screenshot action exposes PDF output. GetScreenshot’s Zapier listing includes a PDF instead of image option; confirm that the resulting file output maps correctly to Drive.
Can I keep only the latest screenshot in Drive?
That depends on the Drive workflow you configure. The described upload flow supports storing a file, but the cited integration details do not establish that repeating a filename automatically replaces an existing file. Test a separate update or replacement design before using it to manage retention.
