Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problems2Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitches3Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsSet both viewport_width and viewport_height on your HTML/CSS to Image create-image request. For example, 1200 by 630 sets a 1200-by-630 CSS-pixel browser viewport, which controls page layout and responsive breakpoints; it does not, by itself, guarantee those final image-pixel dimensions. See the provider’s viewport parameter documentation.
Set both viewport dimensions in the request
The create-image endpoint is POST https://hcti.io/v1/image. Send either a url or html value (not both); css is optional. Add the viewport dimensions as integer CSS-pixel values. The API accepts JSON or form data.
JSON request
{
"url": "https://example.com",
"viewport_width": 1200,
"viewport_height": 630
}
Include both dimensions together. The provider’s documentation states that both are required when setting the viewport. Its API usage reference describes the request format and required source fields.
cURL form request
curl -X POST "https://hcti.io/v1/image"
-H "Content-Type: application/json"
-d '{"url":"https://example.com","viewport_width":1200,"viewport_height":630}'
This sends JSON. If your account requires authentication, use the credentials and authentication method specified for your HTML/CSS to Image account; the viewport fields do not replace authentication.

Choose dimensions for the layout you want
The viewport is Chrome’s virtual browser area, measured in CSS pixels. Its width determines which responsive CSS media queries and breakpoints apply. Set dimensions for the layout you want rendered, rather than assuming the viewport should match the desired file size. The documented maximum viewport width is 6000 pixels. When the viewport is omitted, the provider documents a default of 1920 × 1080.
- For a desktop layout, choose a width that activates the intended desktop breakpoint.
- For a social-card-style layout, a pair such as 1200 × 630 can provide the browser layout area, but output resolution is controlled separately.
- For a mobile layout, specify a phone-sized pair and enable mobile behavior as described below.
Render mobile, landscape, or touch behavior
Dimensions alone do not turn on mobile viewport emulation. For a mobile render, set viewport_mobile: true along with the width and height. The provider says this enables Chrome mobile viewport behavior, including support for the page’s <meta name="viewport"> settings.

viewport_landscape and viewport_touch are optional booleans that default to false. Use them when the page needs those device characteristics; they do not change the viewport dimensions.
Viewport size is not output image size
Viewport settings control the browser’s CSS layout area. Other controls affect image resolution or capture bounds:

device_scalechanges output resolution without changing the CSS viewport. The documented range is 0.1 to 3. The provider FAQ says rendering is 2× by default and recommendsdevice_scale: 1for 1× output. See the HTML/CSS to Image FAQ.full_screencaptures content below the initial viewport for URL screenshots.selectorcrops the capture to an element within the configured viewport.widthandheightquery parameters on the generated-image URL resize the image without changing the viewport or rerendering the page.
For example, if a 1200-pixel CSS viewport produces an image that is twice as wide in pixels as expected, check device_scale rather than reducing the viewport width. Reducing the viewport could change the responsive layout.
Troubleshoot unexpected captures
- Request rejected when one dimension is missing: send both
viewport_widthandviewport_heightas integers. - Wrong responsive layout: adjust
viewport_widthto the breakpoint you want. The browser applies page CSS at that viewport width. - Mobile page still looks like desktop: add
viewport_mobile: true; a small width and height alone do not enable the documented mobile behavior. - Image pixel dimensions are larger than the viewport: inspect
device_scale, which affects output resolution, and usedevice_scale: 1for the documented 1× setting. - Content below the fold is missing: for a URL capture, use
full_screenif you need the whole page rather than only the initial viewport. - Only a component should appear: use
selectorto crop to the element instead of changing the viewport to mimic a crop. - Viewport width exceeds the documented limit: keep it at or below 6000 pixels.

No. Those values set the CSS viewport. Output resolution can differ because of device scale, and the generated-image URL can also be resized.
