Set dimensions in the Screenshot API action

In the Zap editor, add the Screenshot API app and choose Take Screenshot for a standard capture or Scrolling Screenshot for a scrolling capture. Zapier lists these as separate actions. Zapier’s Screenshot API integration listing

Enter the page URL and select the required output option shown by the action.

For Take Screenshot, enter values in Screenshot Width and Screenshot Height. For Scrolling Screenshot, use Browser Width and Browser Height. The integration listing marks the URL and output fields as required, but not the dimension fields.

If dimensions vary by Zap run, map width and height values from an earlier step using Zapier’s normal field-mapping workflow. If they are constant, enter fixed values. Zapier’s API Request guidance documents mapping values from previous steps, but the integration listing does not describe dynamic mapping for each screenshot field specifically. Test the action and inspect its returned result before publishing the Zap. Check that the capture uses the intended dimensions and output.
What the width and height fields mean—and what Zapier does not specify
Zapier’s integration listing confirms the field labels, but does not state their defaults, accepted ranges, or units. Do not assume a particular default size or maximum from the field names alone; check the current action and provider documentation if you need a precise limit.
Width and height settings also do not, by themselves, establish that a capture covers the entire page. The action you select and its available capture settings determine whether it is a standard or scrolling capture.

Call a screenshot provider directly with API by Zapier
Use API by Zapier when the native Screenshot API action does not expose a parameter you need, or when you need to call a specific provider’s endpoint. This route is more flexible, but you must know the provider’s endpoint, authentication requirements, HTTP method, and parameter format. Zapier notes that API Request requires familiarity with HTTP requests and the target API’s documentation; the action is marked beta and its labels or availability may change. In API by Zapier, choose the API Request action and configure the method and endpoint URL specified by your screenshot provider.

Set authentication as required by that provider.

For an endpoint that accepts query parameters, enter each parameter in the action’s Query string parameters section. Do not put the parameters directly onto the URL field when following Zapier’s instructions. If the endpoint requires a request body, use the body format and fields its documentation specifies instead.

Use the provider’s exact parameter names and units for width and height. Map earlier-step values if dimensions need to vary by run.

Example: screenshot-api.net’s raw API
The following details apply specifically to the raw API documented by Screenshot API at screenshot-api.net/docs; they are not confirmed defaults or limits for Zapier’s Screenshot API app or another provider. That vendor names its raw dimensions width and height, defines them as viewport dimensions in CSS pixels, and documents defaults of 1280 and 800 respectively. It documents full_page separately, with full-page capture height capped at 4320 pixels. If you use this provider through API by Zapier, put the documented parameters in Zapier’s query-parameter fields when calling a query-based endpoint.

Choose the native action or direct API request

Use the native action when its available fields cover the capture you need; it already exposes dimension inputs without requiring you to configure a raw HTTP request.

Use API by Zapier when you need provider-specific parameters that the native action does not expose and you have the provider’s request and authentication details.

For direct requests, the provider determines whether parameters belong in a query string or request body, as well as their names, units, defaults, and limits. Zapier provides the request mechanism, not a universal screenshot API schema.
Troubleshooting dimension settings
The screenshot has an unexpected size
Confirm which action the Zap uses. Screenshot Width and Screenshot Height belong to Take Screenshot; Browser Width and Browser Height belong to Scrolling Screenshot. Then check the mapped or fixed values and verify the relevant provider’s units and constraints.
The API request ignores the dimensions
Check the exact provider documentation for the endpoint you are calling. A raw provider API may use names such as width and height; those names are not a universal standard and do not prove that the separate Zapier integration accepts them. For a query-based request, place parameters in Zapier’s Query string parameters section rather than appending them to the URL field.
The image is not full-page
Check the selected action and the provider’s separate full-page setting. Viewport width and height do not necessarily enable full-page capture. For screenshot-api.net’s raw API, full_page is a separate parameter; its documented cap is specific to that vendor.

The API Request action is missing or has different labels
Zapier describes API Request as a beta feature, and the help page reviewed says it is available on paid plans. Check Zapier’s current editor and plan details, since availability and labels may change.
