The key detail: an n8n template for this workflow starts when a spreadsheet file is added to Drive, not when a row is added, so use the Sheets row trigger for this job.
How the workflow fits together
The workflow has four parts: detect a new row, read its URL, render the webpage as an image, and store or share the result. n8n’s Google Sheets Trigger also offers Row updated and Row added or updated; choose Row added if you want one capture for each newly added row rather than captures after edits. ScreenshotOne documents an n8n integration for rendering screenshots, PDFs, scrolling screenshots, and videos. Its example workflow can store screenshots in Drive and send a Gmail notification. The template’s trigger is a new spreadsheet file in Drive, however, so replace that trigger with the Google Sheets Trigger configured for a new row.
Prepare the sheet and credentials
Set up a URL column
Give the sheet a header row and add a column containing the page address for each capture. The ScreenshotOne template uses a column named Url. Use that exact header or adjust the mapping in n8n to match your sheet. Include a complete, reachable URL such as https://example.com/page.

Connect the required services
Configure Google Sheets credentials in n8n and grant the permissions needed to read the target spreadsheet. For the ScreenshotOne implementation, create an account and use its access key in the appropriate credential or node configuration. Do not put the key in the spreadsheet or in a workflow field that will be shared as plain text. If you add Drive storage, connect Google Drive with permission to write to the destination folder; if you add email alerts, authenticate Gmail.

Build the workflow in n8n
- Add a Google Sheets Trigger. Select your Google Sheets credentials, spreadsheet, and worksheet. Set the event to Row added. Use Row added or updated only if edits should also create new captures.
- Run a trigger test. Add a test row with a URL under the sheet’s URL header, then execute the trigger test so n8n can load an example row and expose its fields to later nodes.
- Add the screenshot step. Use ScreenshotOne’s n8n integration and configure its access key. Map the URL input to the URL value from the trigger output—typically the field named
Urlif you followed the template’s header convention. If your header differs, select that field instead. - Choose capture settings. Configure the desired viewport, device emulation, and delay timing where needed. ScreenshotOne’s n8n example identifies these as configurable API options. A viewport capture shows the visible page area; use a scrolling or full-page option if the entire page is needed and the integration’s available settings support it.
- Store the image. Add a Google Drive step after the screenshot node and map its binary image output to a file upload. Choose the destination folder and a filename that identifies the row or URL. Confirm the selected output property matches the binary property returned by the screenshot step.
- Optionally notify someone. Add a Gmail step after a successful upload and include the Drive folder or file link. Keep the notification downstream of storage so it does not announce a capture that was not saved.
The documented ScreenshotOne template demonstrates URL extraction, screenshot capture, Drive storage, and a Gmail folder-link notification. Its Drive-file trigger is not interchangeable with the row event: use the steps after the trigger as a pattern, but keep the Google Sheets Trigger for this use case.

Test the complete path
- Activate or manually execute the workflow in a way that listens for a new row.
- Add a fresh row with a valid page URL. If the trigger is set to Row added, editing an existing row is not the right test.
- Inspect the trigger output and confirm the URL field is present and populated.
- Inspect the screenshot step’s result and confirm it contains image output rather than an error or an unexpected response type.
- Open the saved Drive file to check that it is a readable image and that the capture shows the intended page area.
- If using Gmail, check that the message points to the correct folder or file.
Options to adapt the workflow
- Trigger behavior: choose Row added for new records, Row updated for changes to existing records, or Row added or updated for both. The latter can produce another screenshot when someone edits a row.
- Renderer integration: use ScreenshotOne’s dedicated n8n integration where available, or configure a generic API/HTTP request if your workflow uses that approach. Follow the renderer’s documented request and response format.
- Destination: Drive is the destination in the n8n template; the screenshot output can instead be routed to another destination supported by your workflow.
- Capture shape: adjust viewport, device emulation, or delay settings to fit the page. A delayed capture may help content that appears after initial navigation; it does not guarantee that every dynamically loaded element will be ready.
- Output type: ScreenshotOne describes screenshot rendering as well as PDFs, scrolling screenshots, and videos. Choose the output that suits the downstream step, and ensure the storage node handles that output type.
Troubleshooting
The workflow does not start for a new row
Check that the node is a Google Sheets Trigger rather than the template’s Google Drive trigger, and that the selected event is Row added. Confirm the spreadsheet and worksheet are the ones receiving the row, and verify Google credentials and access.

The screenshot step receives an empty URL
Inspect the trigger’s sample output and compare its field names with the screenshot node’s URL mapping. A header mismatch—such as mapping URL when the actual header is Url—can leave the renderer with no address. Update the mapping to the exact field in the incoming row.
The renderer rejects the request or returns no image
Check that the ScreenshotOne account and access key are configured correctly, that the URL is complete and reachable, and that the node is using the expected request and output settings. Check the node’s execution details for the specific service response before changing unrelated workflow steps.

The saved file is missing, empty, or not an image
Confirm that the screenshot node succeeded and identify the binary output property in its execution data. Map that property—not a text or metadata field—to the Drive upload. Also verify that Drive credentials can write to the chosen folder.
The capture misses content lower on the page
A standard viewport capture may show only the visible area. Choose a scrolling or full-page capture option when available, and review delay settings for pages that render content after navigation. Confirm the resulting output is compatible with the next workflow node.
