Prepare the videos and confirm the rights first. Then decide whether you want an ordinary YouTube playlist viewers can play in order or a continuous livestream: a playlist is a collection of videos, while a livestream needs its own setup in YouTube Live Control Room and an encoder to send the feed. You can use encoder software or standalone hardware.

Choose a playlist or a livestream

Ordinary YouTube playlist

A playlist groups videos so viewers can play them in sequence. Create and manage it in YouTube Studio; choose its visibility, add the videos, and arrange them in the order you want. Follow YouTube’s playlist instructions.

Continuous livestream using prepared videos

A livestream is a separate broadcast, not simply a playlist with a different label. Create or schedule the stream in Live Control Room and connect an encoder using the stream URL and stream key. YouTube’s encoder setup guide describes software and standalone hardware options. If your aim is to broadcast prerecorded devotional videos continuously, make sure your chosen workflow actually sends a live feed rather than only publishing a playlist.

Prepare and order the Tamil devotional videos

  1. Gather the final files. Make an inventory with each video’s title, devotional subject or song, duration, language, thumbnail, and rights status. This is a practical planning step; there is no prescribed inventory format.
  2. Choose a coherent sequence. Group videos around a devotional program, deity, occasion, or intended viewing session. Choose an order that suits your audience; YouTube does not require a particular order for Tamil devotional material.
  3. Make titles and descriptions clear. Identify the devotional subject accurately and use Tamil or other language details that help viewers understand what they are opening. Do not imply a performer, source, or permission that you cannot verify.
  4. Create the playlist in YouTube Studio. Give it a clear title and description, set visibility, add the videos, and arrange them in the intended order.
  5. Check the finished sequence. Play through the playlist to catch missing, duplicated, wrongly ordered, or unavailable videos before sharing it.

Confirm rights before using music, recordings, and images

Check permission for every song, sound recording, performance, image, and video element, and make sure it covers the intended livestream use and territories. A devotional composition, a modern recording of it, a particular performance, and accompanying imagery may have different rights holders. A traditional song is not proof that a modern recording or performance is free to use.

YouTube’s Livestream Terms and Conditions say: “You represent and warrant that you have all necessary rights for the exploitation of the Live Content on the Google Services throughout the world, including, without limitation, music licensing rights from artists, record labels, publishers (including public performance licenses) and any other royalty participants.” Keep records of licenses and permitted territories. If you have a license for third-party music, ask the rights owner whether your channel needs to be added to its Content ID allowlist.

What can happen when a match is detected

YouTube scans livestreams for third-party content. A match can trigger a warning; if the material remains, YouTube may interrupt or terminate the stream. A stream using licensed content can also be interrupted if the rights owner has not added the channel to its Content ID allowlist. See YouTube’s guidance on live-stream content.

Safer music sources—and a limitation

  • YouTube recommends original music, its Audio Library, or third-party music whose license expressly permits your intended use. YouTube describes Audio Library music and sound effects as copyright-safe for use on YouTube.
  • A description calling a track “free” does not by itself prevent a Content ID claim or interruption. Read the license and verify that it covers the broadcast you plan to make.
  • Do not treat Creator Music as a general livestream clearance route: YouTube says tracks offered through Creator Music licensing or revenue sharing are for long-form videos, not livestreams or Shorts. Track terms, regions, and eligibility can vary. See Creator Music eligibility and usage terms.

Set up and check the livestream

  1. Create or schedule the stream. In YouTube Live Control Room, set up the broadcast and obtain its stream URL and stream key.
  2. Connect an encoder. Enter the stream URL and key in your encoder. YouTube supports software encoders and standalone hardware encoders; hardware is optional, not a baseline requirement.
  3. Prepare the video feed. Confirm that the encoder can accept your prepared video files and produce a feed compatible with the stream setup you intend to use. The appropriate format and equipment depend on your workflow; check current YouTube requirements and the encoder maker’s documentation rather than assuming one configuration suits every setup.
  4. Preview before going live. Check the Live Control Room preview, including picture and audio, before starting the broadcast.
  5. Monitor during the broadcast. Watch stream quality and listen for audio problems as the stream runs. YouTube recommends previewing and monitoring; for more involved productions, it also discusses external audio/video hardware in its live encoder guidance.

Choose an encoder that fits your workflow

There is no single best encoder for every creator, and a dedicated hardware device is not automatically necessary. If your existing computer and software encoder meet your needs, you may have no reason to buy a separate device. For a more involved production, compare options against the inputs you have, the output resolution and protocol you need, unattended operation, reliability and recovery options, setup complexity, and total cost. Verify compatibility with current manufacturer documentation and YouTube’s live requirements before purchasing. No particular encoder model is established as a tested recommendation here.

Common problems and fixes

  • The playlist plays, but there is no live broadcast. A playlist is not a livestream. Set up a broadcast in Live Control Room and connect an encoder with the stream URL and key.
  • The encoder will not connect. Check that you used the URL and key for the intended stream and that the encoder is configured to send to that destination. Recheck the current YouTube setup instructions if the connection still fails.
  • The stream is interrupted after a music match. Stop using material unless you can establish that your rights cover the livestream. If you hold a license, contact the rights owner about Content ID allowlisting; YouTube says an unallowlisted licensed-content stream can still be interrupted.
  • The video or audio is wrong in the broadcast. Check the Live Control Room preview before going live, then monitor the feed during the broadcast. Confirm the encoder is receiving the intended video and audio sources.
  • A track marked “free” receives a claim. The label alone is not clearance. Check the actual license for livestream use and territories, or replace the track with music you have permission to use.
