Firefox can save a webpage as a PDF, but choosing Save to PDF does not guarantee that every font will be embedded. Use the print preview to prepare the page, save it, then inspect the PDF itself if font embedding is a requirement.
Save a webpage as a PDF in Firefox
- Open the webpage in Firefox and choose Menu → Print… (or use the print command).
- In the print dialog, set Destination to Save to PDF.
- Review the preview. Adjust available settings such as orientation, pages, color, paper size, scale, margins, headers and footers, and print backgrounds.
- Choose Print, then select where to save the PDF.
Webpages can be designed to look different on paper than on screen, so judge the page layout from the preview before saving. Available controls can vary by platform or destination. See Mozilla’s Firefox printing instructions.
Does Firefox embed webpage fonts in the PDF?
Mozilla documents the Save to PDF workflow, but does not promise that every webpage font will be embedded in every exported PDF. Treat embedding as something to verify, not as a guaranteed result of selecting the destination.
Three separate properties matter: font embedding means font data is included in the PDF; visual fidelity means the page looks as intended; and text extraction means text remains selectable, searchable, or extractable. A PDF can look correct while failing an embedding or text-extraction check.

Verify fonts and text in the saved PDF
- Open the exported file in a PDF reader or a font-inspection tool.
- Inspect the document’s font properties and confirm whether the fonts used on the page are listed as embedded. The exact inspection interface depends on the reader or tool.
- Try selecting and searching for text that uses the relevant font. If text extraction matters, inspect copied or extracted text too.
- If the result does not meet your requirement, try another available print route and inspect that PDF separately. No route is established as a universal fix for font embedding.
For searchable or extractable text, font embedding is not the only potential issue: a separate Bugzilla report about ligature characters in PDF ToUnicode mapping concerns text mapping, not proof that fonts fail to embed.
When a PDF does not look or behave as expected
- Layout differs from the webpage: check the print preview and adjust paper size, orientation, scale, and margins. Web content can be designed to render differently on paper. Mozilla’s help article describes the print workflow and controls.
- A font appears wrong or is missing: verify the saved PDF rather than relying on the preview alone. A historical report about Firefox 64 concerned downloadable fonts printed through third-party PDF printer software; it does not establish current behavior for Firefox’s built-in Save to PDF. The report was closed as a duplicate.
- Text output is broken on a particular system: a 2026 Bugzilla report describes an issue involving a particular system font on Linux with Firefox 155. It is a specific defect report, not evidence that all fonts or platforms are affected.
- Text looks fine but cannot be searched or extracted as expected: check text selection and extraction separately from font embedding; the ligature-mapping report above illustrates that these are distinct concerns.
Compare alternate PDF export routes carefully
If Firefox’s built-in export does not produce an acceptable file, a platform-provided PDF printer or a dedicated PDF-export extension may be worth trying. The available choices depend on your operating system. Evaluate each resulting PDF for embedded fonts, visual fidelity, selectable and searchable text, link preservation, and layout controls. For an extension, also consider its permissions and trustworthiness.

There is no established universal winner among these routes, and trying a different printer or extension is not a guaranteed font-embedding fix. Inspect the output from each route against the requirement that matters to you.
