Set Chrome DevTools’ responsive viewport to 393 × 852 CSS pixels, choose the Mobile device type, and set DPR to 3 if that control is available. Then use More options > Capture screenshot for the visible view or More options > Capture a full size screenshot for the full page.
Set the iPhone 15-sized viewport in Chrome
- Open the website in Chrome, then open DevTools: right-click the page and choose Inspect, or use Chrome’s keyboard shortcut for DevTools.
- In DevTools, click Toggle device toolbar in the action bar. The page appears in device emulation.
- In the device toolbar, choose Responsive if it is not already selected. Enter 393 in the width field and 852 in the height field. These are CSS-pixel dimensions.
- Set the device type to Mobile. If the device-type control is not shown, open More options > Add device type and expose it.
- If available, set the device pixel ratio (DPR) to 3. Chrome describes DPR as the ratio of physical screen pixels to logical CSS pixels; its control can be added from More options.
- Reload the page if needed, wait for the layout and content to settle, then capture the screenshot using the appropriate option below.
Chrome documents the responsive dimension, device-type and DPR controls in its Device Mode documentation. Apple’s Human Interface Guidelines list iPhone 15 at 393 × 852 pt (1179 × 2556 px at 3×) in its layout guidance. For DevTools’ responsive fields, enter 393 × 852—not the panel’s 1179 × 2556 pixel resolution.

Choose viewport or full-page capture
| DevTools option | What it captures | Use it when |
|---|---|---|
| More options > Capture screenshot | The currently visible viewport | You want to inspect or share the page as it appears within the 393 × 852 emulated view. |
| More options > Capture a full size screenshot | The full page, including content outside the visible viewport | You need a long-page image rather than only the current screen. |
Both options are documented by Chrome DevTools. A full-size screenshot can be much taller than the emulated viewport; use the viewport capture when the question is how the page fits on an iPhone 15-sized screen.
What this emulation does—and does not—tell you
Device Mode approximates a mobile experience from desktop Chrome; it does not run the page on an actual iPhone. Chrome describes it as a “first-order approximation” and recommends testing on a real device when uncertain. The emulated image is useful for reviewing responsive layout, but it is not proof of final rendering or behavior on iPhone hardware. Browser differences, actual device behavior, and other conditions can affect the result.

For a screenshot API call instead of configuring a local browser, ScreenshotNeo accepts a URL and returns a screenshot. The example below saves a WebP response; see the ScreenshotNeo documentation for API options.
curl -G "https://api.screenshotneo.com/v1/shot" -d access_key=YOUR_API_KEY --data-urlencode url=https://stripe.com -o shot.webpScreenshotNeo can accept cookie or consent banners and remove known consent platforms, newsletter popups, and chat widgets before capture; each of those steps can be turned off. Bot checks, blank pages, timeouts, failed loads, and cache hits are not billed, and responses identify the page verdict and billing status. Its MCP server provides screenshot tools for Claude, Cursor, and other MCP clients. The Free plan includes 1,000 screenshots per month without a card; paid plans start at $5 for 3,000 screenshots.

Common problems
- The page looks zoomed or the dimensions seem wrong: Confirm that the responsive fields show 393 and 852, and that you entered CSS dimensions rather than 1179 and 2556. Check DPR separately; it does not replace the viewport size.
- The screenshot is only the top portion: That is expected with Capture screenshot, which saves the visible viewport. Use Capture a full size screenshot for content beyond the viewport.
- The page behaves like desktop despite the narrow viewport: Verify the device type is set to Mobile, not Desktop. If the control is hidden, expose it using More options > Add device type.
- Images or other page content are missing: Wait for the page to load and settle, then try again. Some content may appear only after scrolling or interaction; a screenshot is a capture of the page’s state at the time you take it.
- The result differs from a real iPhone: DevTools emulation is an approximation, not an actual iPhone test. Check the page on real hardware when the distinction matters.
