Test the Pixel Fold’s cover and inner displays as separate layouts. Google’s published pixel resolutions describe the physical panels; they are not verified CSS viewport dimensions, so don’t enter them as CSS width and height without checking the target device configuration.
Set up a Pixel Fold-sized viewport in Chrome
- Open the website in Chrome, then open DevTools.
- Click Toggle device toolbar in the DevTools action bar.
- In the device toolbar’s Dimensions selector, choose Responsive.
- Enter the CSS width and height for the screen configuration you want to represent. If your installed Chrome version offers an appropriate device profile, you can use it as a starting point; Chrome’s documentation does not guarantee a Pixel Fold preset in every version.
- Choose the orientation you need. Portrait and landscape have different available widths and may trigger different responsive breakpoints.
For the original Pixel Fold, Google lists the cover display at 2092 × 1080 physical pixels and the inner display at 2208 × 1840 physical pixels on its Pixel phone comparison page. Those figures describe panel resolution, not the CSS viewport dimensions or device pixel ratio (DPR) used by a particular Pixel Fold, Android, and Chrome configuration.
CSS pixels and physical display pixels are not interchangeable. DPR relates physical display pixels to CSS pixels, and the value can vary by configuration. For an accurate CSS viewport, inspect the target device/browser configuration or use an appropriate profile and verify the result on-device; don’t assume the panel resolution is the width and height to enter in Responsive mode. Chrome’s Device Mode documentation explains responsive dimensions, device profiles, and DPR controls.
Set DPR only when the output requires it
If the required screenshot depends on DPR, open More options → Add device pixel ratio and set the value deliberately. Otherwise, avoid treating a guessed DPR as a verified Pixel Fold specification.

Capture the cover and inner screens separately
The Pixel Fold has distinct external and folding displays, so make separate captures for the cover-screen and inner-screen layouts. Set the viewport dimensions and orientation for the state being tested before capturing. Don’t treat the unfolded display as an ordinary narrow-phone viewport by default.
Google’s comparison page establishes the two panel resolutions but not their CSS viewport sizes or DPR for a specific browser configuration. When those exact values matter, check the target configuration and confirm the layout on the phone.

Choose viewport or full-page capture
- Visible viewport: Select More options → Capture screenshot to capture what is currently visible in the emulated viewport.
- Entire page: Select More options → Capture full size screenshot to include content outside the visible viewport.
Use a viewport capture to document the initial screen or a particular scroll position. Use a full-size capture when you need a record of the page from top to bottom.
What DevTools emulation can and cannot show
Device Mode is a first-order approximation: the page is still running in desktop Chrome, not on a Pixel Fold. It is useful for checking responsive layout at chosen dimensions, but it cannot reproduce every hardware or software condition of the phone. For screenshots documenting actual device behavior, verify the page on a physical Pixel Fold. Chrome recommends using a real mobile device when the task requires that level of fidelity (Chrome Device Mode documentation).

Troubleshoot common mismatches
- The layout does not look like the Pixel Fold. Check that you selected the intended display state—cover or inner—and set its CSS viewport dimensions rather than copying panel-resolution figures into the CSS fields.
- A breakpoint changes unexpectedly. Confirm the viewport width and orientation. Rotating the emulated device changes available width and can move the page across responsive breakpoints.
- The screenshot is missing content below the fold. Use Capture full size screenshot instead of the visible-viewport capture.
- You cannot find a Pixel Fold preset. Chrome does not guarantee that a matching profile is available in every version. Use Responsive mode with verified CSS viewport dimensions, or use an available profile only as a starting point.
- The capture differs from the physical phone. Device Mode is desktop emulation, not execution on the handset. Check the page on the actual device when browser, hardware, or software behavior matters.
