Windows Errors? Fix Them Before They Spread
Repair common Windows errors and clear accumulated junk for a smoother, more stable PC - no reinstall needed.Free scan · no reinstallOutdated Drivers Are Slowing You Down
One free scan finds every outdated or missing driver and matches the right update for your exact hardware.Free scan · exact hardware matchFor most permanent in-wall Ethernet runs, choose bulk Cat 6 cable with solid bare copper conductors, then match its jacket rating to the route: CMR for permitted riser and other non-plenum pathways, or CMP where a plenum rating is required. There is no single jacket type that is right for every building. Check local requirements and the markings on the cable itself before you buy or install it.
What to buy for a typical in-wall run
Look for bulk cable intended for permanent installation—not just a product described as “Ethernet.” A practical starting point is Cat 6 solid bare copper CMR bulk cable when the route and local rules permit a riser-rated jacket. If the route requires plenum-rated cable, choose the CMP version instead.
- Confirm the category is Cat 6 and the conductors are solid bare copper.
- Choose CMR or CMP based on the actual pathway and applicable requirements.
- Check the cable jacket’s rating and certification markings, as well as the product information.
For example, Prysmian’s GenSPEED 6000 product page identifies 23 AWG solid bare annealed copper and performance guaranteed to 350 MHz. Those are specifications for that named product, not requirements for every Cat 6 cable or a reason that every home needs that particular cable: Prysmian GenSPEED 6000.
CMR vs. CMP: choose for the pathway
CMR is riser-rated; CMP is plenum-rated. A plenum is an air-handling space, and whether a particular route needs a plenum rating depends on the building and applicable rules. Eaton’s guidance says CMP can be used in risers, but CMR must not be used in plenum spaces. Treat that as vendor guidance, and verify local requirements for your route.

- High-Performance Cat6 Cable: This UL Listed (E485863) Cat6 Ethernet cable bulk spool offers 23 AWG, CMR riser-rated construction, making it ideal for high-speed networking in homes and offices. Designed for 10-Gigabit Ethernet, it is backward compatible with Gigabit and Fast Ethernet for versatile connectivity.
- Riser-Rated Safety: The riser-rated (CMR) jacket provides superior fire resistance, making this ethernet cable spool suitable for installation between floors in residential or commercial buildings. Its safety rating offers peace of mind for professional network installations in multi-story environments.
- Future-Proof Network: Foot-marked Cat 6 spool allows for easy tracking of cable length. With a high bandwidth of up to 550 MHz, this cable supports demanding server applications, cloud computing, video surveillance, and smooth HD video streaming.
- Pure Copper Conductors: Crafted with bare copper conductors for enhanced cable performance, this Cat 6 bulk Ethernet cable meets or exceeds TIA/EIA 568-C.2 standards. Unlike copper-clad alternatives, the solid copper build ensures reliable data transfer, supports Power over Ethernet (PoE, PoE+, PoE++), and complies with communication cable specifications.
- Convenient Easy-Pull Reel: The cable comes with an easy-pull reel for hassle-free deployment. This design simplifies installation and prevents tangling or damage, ensuring smooth handling during large-scale network projects.
| Cable rating | Intended route | Substitution guidance | What to verify |
|---|---|---|---|
| CMR | Riser and other non-plenum pathways where permitted | Do not use CMR in a plenum, according to Eaton | Check the jacket marking and listing, plus local requirements |
| CMP | Plenum pathways where required | Eaton says CMP can be used in a riser | Check the jacket marking and listing, plus local requirements |
For its explanation, see Eaton’s Ethernet cable guidance. The exact code requirement for an individual address and pathway cannot be determined from a cable label alone. If you are unsure whether a space is a plenum or what rating is required, ask the local building official or a qualified electrician before pulling the cable. Building specifications and local code adoption can affect what is allowed.
Do you need Cat 6A instead?
Cat 6 is a reasonable general choice for a permanent home run; the available product information does not establish that every home needs Cat 6A. Cat 6A is available in riser-rated product form, so it may suit a project with requirements that justify it. Decide based on the actual installation and network plan rather than assuming that a higher category is automatically necessary or guarantees a particular future speed.

- READY FOR A TRUE CABLE UPGRADE? It may seem like all Cat 6 ethernet cable 1000ft PoE++(4PPoE) is created equal, but most engineers agree the small, time saving details make all the difference – like rolling cable out of the box smoothly without snags, plastic core for durability and of course fulfilling its promise of being a high performance ethernet cable
- 100% CERTIFIED SOLID BARE COPPER CONDUCTOR: It’s time to forget Copper Clad Aluminum cables (CCA) – With a higher conductivity and tensile strength, fast Cat. 23AWG Solid Copper Conductors transmit faster while lasting the distance. For heavy traffic networks, and as a solid gaming ethernet cable cat6 - it just makes perfect sense
- REDUCED CROSSTALK: Four twisted pairs with a PVC Cross Separator reduces noise for clean uninterrupted connection. This cross flexi-core makes for a more durable cable that won’t bend or break. Our FastReel box lets this long ethernet cable cat 6 flow freely - saving time!
- PERFORMANCE: While many Cat6 ethernet cables still max out at 250MHZ, fast Cat. performs up to speeds of 550MHZ. It’s a 10 Gigabit Ethernet Cat 6 cable. The box performs well too! Rigid with splash proof coating, your ethernet cord is safe, tidy and damage free
- CERTIFIED AND TRACEABLE: All fast Cat. Cables are CSA and ETL Certified, TAA and RoHS Compliant, and CMR flame resistant (IEC 60332-3 Cert). Each cable is part of a detailed lot tracking system, barcode traceable and comes with a full guarantee. When you order now, you’ll be joining thousands of companies around the world who rely on fast Cat.
For comparison, Southwire lists a Cat 6A riser-rated cable as a product option: Southwire Cat 6A cable. The product example establishes availability, not a universal recommendation for homes.

Confirm the rating and certification markings on the cable itself instead of relying only on a listing title or the word “Ethernet.” ICC offers guidance on identifying cable markings: ICC’s cable-rating guidance. The product documents from Prysmian and Southwire specify solid bare copper for the cited products; verify that the exact cable you purchase makes the same claim.

Follow the datasheet for the exact cable while pulling it. Prysmian’s 2024 Carol Category Cable datasheet gives that cable a 1.0-inch minimum bend radius and a 32-pound maximum pulling force. Those are product-specific limits, not universal rules for all Ethernet cable. The same datasheet lists a maximum DC resistance of 9.38 ohms per 100 meters for its specified Cat 6 cable; that electrical specification is not a substitute for selecting the right jacket rating or following installation instructions.
