Yes on iOS, according to YouTube’s published policy: it deducts local sales tax and iOS App Store fees from confirmed Supers revenue, then pays creators 70% of what remains. YouTube says it currently covers transaction costs such as credit-card fees. The documentation does not establish a universal mobile-versus-desktop difference or give enough figures to calculate a standard payout example.
How YouTube calculates a creator’s share on iOS
YouTube Help says creators receive 70% of Supers revenue confirmed by Google. For iOS, that 70% is calculated after local sales tax and App Store fees are deducted. In other words, it is not necessarily 70% of the full amount a viewer paid.
YouTube separately says it currently covers transaction costs, including credit-card fees. Do not treat those costs as another stated deduction from the creator’s share: the help page names local sales tax and iOS App Store fees as deductions before the 70% calculation.
What the Android notice does—and does not—say
YouTube’s buyer help page says some new purchases made in the YouTube Android app are billed through Google Play. It describes this as a change in where the purchase is billed, not a change to pricing or cost. That notice does not explain whether or how Google Play billing affects a creator’s proceeds, so it is not evidence of an Android-specific revenue-share calculation.

| Purchase context | What YouTube’s public documentation establishes | What it does not establish |
|---|---|---|
| iOS app | Local sales tax and App Store fees are deducted before the creator’s 70% share of confirmed Supers revenue is calculated. | A universal App Store fee rate or a fixed payout for a given viewer payment. |
| Android app | Some new purchases are billed through Google Play; YouTube says the billing change does not affect pricing or cost. | A corresponding creator-side deduction or a numerical comparison with iOS. |
| Other purchase routes | YouTube’s general partner earnings overview describes the Commerce Product Module as paying 70% of net revenues for channel memberships, Super Chat, Super Stickers, and Super Thanks. | A complete route-by-route breakdown that would quantify mobile versus non-mobile proceeds for every creator. |
Why there is no universal “mobile cut” amount
The published iOS policy specifies the order of the calculation, but not the App Store fee percentage or a worked example. The amount left after deductions can also depend on local sales tax. As a result, public documentation does not support one exact dollar difference that applies across countries, payment amounts, or purchase routes.
YouTube’s general earnings overview also says revenue share follows the creator’s partner agreement. Creators can review their agreements in YouTube Studio; that agreement is the relevant place to check the terms that apply to an individual channel. The published 70% summary is useful context, not a substitute for the creator’s own terms.

What creators can safely tell viewers
- For iOS, YouTube says local sales tax and App Store fees are deducted before it calculates the creator’s 70% share of confirmed Supers revenue.
- YouTube says it currently covers transaction costs such as credit-card fees.
- The Android Google Play notice concerns billing routing and listed price, not a stated creator revenue-share calculation.
- Do not promise a precise payout from a viewer’s payment unless you have the applicable fee, tax, and agreement details.
