Restream can automatically start a prerecorded YouTube stream at a scheduled time, even if you are offline. To repeat it later, reuse a draft or duplicate the event and schedule another occurrence; the documented workflow does not establish an automatic weekly or daily recurrence setting.
What “recurring” means in Restream
Restream supports scheduling a prerecorded video event and reusing or duplicating its setup for another date. Treat each repeat as a new scheduled event: the current instructions describe no automatic calendar rule that repeats one prerecorded event every day or week. Restream’s scheduling guide and its draft-reuse instructions explain those workflows.
A prerecorded event is different from an encoder session: you select a video file and schedule its broadcast, rather than starting a live feed from an encoder. Restream says prerecorded video events begin automatically at their scheduled time, including when the creator is offline. You can monitor the stream and chat while it airs, but do not need to start the YouTube broadcast yourself. See Restream’s prerecorded-event instructions and workflow comparison.
Schedule the first prerecorded YouTube event
- Open the prerecorded workflow. From Restream’s home screen, choose New Stream, then Pre-recorded livestream and Video.
- Select the video. Choose a video already in Uploads or Recordings, or upload a file from your computer or mobile device.
- Enter the event details. Add a title, description, date, and time. Select a thumbnail if you want one; Restream recommends 1280 × 720 pixels.
- Choose whether to announce it in advance. During event setup, enable Create an event post in advance if you want an announcement before the stream begins.
- Select YouTube as a destination. Confirm that the intended YouTube channel is selected, then create or schedule the event.
- Check the scheduled event. Verify the date and time and that YouTube is among the destinations. If you enabled an advance post, check the event announcement on YouTube as well.
Restream’s help page says prerecorded video streaming is available to all users, while storage and video-size limits vary with the add-on tier. Confirm the limits that apply to your account before relying on a particular file length or resolution. Restream’s scheduling documentation lists advance event posts for YouTube, Facebook profiles and pages, LinkedIn, and X; availability should not be assumed for every destination. Schedule the next occurrence
- Reuse the draft or duplicate the event. Restream documents both reusing saved drafts and duplicating an event. Use the option available for the scheduled item in your account.
- Set the new date and time. Change any event details that differ, such as the title or description.
- Confirm the video and destination. Check that the correct recording is selected and YouTube remains selected.
- Schedule the new event and verify it. Treat it as its own broadcast, with its own start time and any advance announcement.
Restream documents drafts returning to draft status after an event so they can be reused. Its documentation also describes event duplication. These options reduce repeated setup, but they do not mean that one event automatically repeats. Restream’s draft-reuse guide covers the draft workflow.
YouTube also supports reusing settings from a previous scheduled stream. An upcoming scheduled stream may appear in subscribers’ feeds, where viewers can choose Notify me. That reminder promotes an individual scheduled event; it is not a recurring schedule. See YouTube Help on creating a live stream with an encoder and managing live stream settings.

Avoid one-time event and looping pitfalls
Do not use the scheduled event as a test run
Restream’s YouTube-specific guidance warns that a YouTube event can only go live once. Do not start the event early just to test it if you still need it for the scheduled broadcast. Create a separate test setup, then schedule a fresh event for the next occurrence. Read Restream’s YouTube Live Event guidance.
Looping is not recurring scheduling
Restream describes an option to loop an individual prerecorded video up to 10 times, requiring the Marathon or Media add-on. Looping repeats playback within that event; it does not create separate scheduled YouTube events on future dates. Check Restream’s current add-on terms before relying on the feature. Keep event posts in sync
If you unschedule an event in Restream, advance posts already created on supported platforms are not automatically removed. Check and clean up any announcement separately if the broadcast is canceled or rescheduled. Restream’s event instructions describe this limitation.
Check plan limits before scheduling a long or high-resolution video
Restream’s help information retrieved on October 3, 2026 listed these add-on examples. Prices and features can change, so verify the current terms in your account or on Restream’s plan page before purchase.

Restream says storage and video-size limits depend on the add-on tier. Its documentation also ties the optional repeated playback feature to Marathon or Media. The table reflects the listed examples, not a guarantee that the same plans or terms remain available.
Common scheduling problems and fixes
- The event is not repeating automatically. That is expected in the documented workflow. Reuse the draft or duplicate the event, set the next date, and schedule that occurrence.
- The scheduled event is unavailable after a test. Restream warns that a YouTube event can go live only once. Make a separate test event and create a new scheduled event for the actual broadcast.
- The video does not fit the library allowance. Check your account’s current storage and video-size limits and the selected add-on’s terms. Choose a suitable file or plan before scheduling.
- The advance announcement remains after cancellation. Remove the event post separately; unscheduling in Restream does not automatically remove previously created posts on supported platforms.
- You expect a file to loop on future dates. A playback loop is not a recurring calendar event. Schedule another occurrence from the saved or duplicated setup.
