Playwright can save a screenshot of a browser page, but that does not make automated price collection from BigBasket permitted. BigBasket’s published terms restrict scraping and automated acquisition of platform content, and specifically exclude collection or use of product prices without express written consent. Use the code below only for a page or test fixture you are authorized to automate; ask BigBasket for written permission before collecting its prices.
Can you use Playwright to capture BigBasket prices?
Playwright’s screenshot API can save what a browser displays. However, BigBasket’s published terms restrict the proposed use: clause 10.9 prohibits using a page-scrape, robot, spider, or other automatic method to access, acquire, copy, or monitor content through means not purposely made available. Clause 14.2 excludes collecting or using product listings, descriptions, or prices, and using data-mining or similar extraction tools, from the limited platform-use license except with express written consent. Read the BigBasket General Terms & Conditions and obtain written authorization for your specific use before automating price collection.
BigBasket’s business-site terms separately restrict commercial collection of listings, descriptions, or prices and the use of data-gathering tools. The sources reviewed do not establish whether BigBasket offers a public price API, an export workflow, or separate written authorization for this task; confirm directly with BigBasket rather than assuming an option exists or does not exist.
What a screenshot can—and cannot—tell you
A screenshot is a record of pixels shown in one browser context at a particular time. By itself, it does not prove that a price is current, available to other users, or comparable across locations, accounts, sessions, or product variants. If you are authorized to retain a screenshot, record its capture date and time and relevant context, such as location and pack size, where those details are legitimately available.

BigBasket says the prices applicable at order time apply at delivery, while prices for some commodities and fresh foods can change daily. Its true-weight policy also means the displayed amount for fresh fruits and vegetables may be descriptive: the final amount depends on the actual packed weight. Take a screenshot with Playwright on an authorized page
The following is Playwright’s generic JavaScript example, adapted to save a PNG. It demonstrates the browser screenshot call only; it is not a BigBasket script and does not include site-specific navigation, selectors, login, location settings, consent handling, or permission to automate a retailer.

node capture.js. On success, Playwright writesscreenshot.pngin the current working directory.
Playwright documents the Page.screenshot() API and its options in the Page API reference. The example uses WebKit; Playwright also supports Chromium and Firefox. It captures the rendered page view by default. Options such as fullPage: true can capture the full page, but should be used only where your automation is authorized and appropriate.

Make an authorized price record interpretable
If you have permission to collect or retain price evidence, a screenshot alone may omit the context needed to interpret it. Keep a record of relevant, authorized details alongside the image:
- Capture time: include the date and time, since some commodity and fresh-food prices can change daily.
- Product identity: record the displayed product and pack size so that prices are not compared across different quantities.
- Relevant session context: note the location or account context where applicable and permitted. A screenshot from one context does not establish what another user sees.
- Weight-priced items: distinguish a displayed estimate from the final charge, which can depend on packed weight for fresh fruits and vegetables.
- Authorization: retain the scope of any written permission and ensure the workflow stays within it.

Browser executable missing: install the browser binaries for the selected engine with
npx playwright install webkit, or change the import and installation command to a browser engine you have installed. -
Navigation fails or times out: check that the authorized test URL is reachable and that the environment permits network access. Do not treat retries, alternate routes, or browser changes as a way to evade a site’s restrictions.

The image is incomplete or shows a loading state: the generic example takes the screenshot after navigation completes, but page-specific content may load later. For an authorized fixture, wait for a documented readiness condition appropriate to that fixture before calling
screenshot(); no BigBasket-specific readiness selector is established here. -
The output file is not where expected:
