Plan to rebuild the schedule in Restream, reconnect or select the appropriate YouTube events, and verify each date before retiring the Gyre workflow. You can reuse a stream setup, but each YouTube event is a one-time destination.
What transfers—and what does not
Gyre’s Streams Scheduler and a YouTube live event are separate parts of a broadcast setup. Restream’s instructions cover selecting an existing YouTube event or creating a new one; they do not document importing Gyre’s recurring schedule. Treat the migration as rebuilding your schedule and destination settings in Restream, rather than expecting the schedule to follow your account automatically. A recurring series may reuse a stream configuration, but it still needs a new YouTube event for each broadcast date: Restream says a YouTube event can be gone live to only once. Google’s YouTube Live API documentation describes scheduled broadcasts as separate liveBroadcast resources that can be bound to a reusable liveStream resource.
Before changing services, inventory each recurring stream
For each Gyre stream, record the details you will need to reproduce or check in Restream:

- YouTube event URL, title, description, thumbnail, and privacy setting.
- Scheduled date, time, and time zone.
- The source video or playlist, and whether the stream is a prerecorded loop or an encoder feed.
- Whether YouTube auto-start and auto-stop should be enabled.
Restream’s event setup includes details such as title, description, date and time, thumbnail, privacy, and channel selection. The available service instructions do not establish whether Gyre offers a complete schedule export, so check your account and manually preserve anything you cannot export.
Choose how Restream will connect to YouTube

Connect an existing event with the native integration
- Connect your YouTube channel to Restream if it is not connected already.
- Open the relevant Restream stream or event and edit its YouTube channel settings.
- Select the intended existing YouTube event from the dropdown and save.
If the event is not available in the selector, check that you connected the correct YouTube channel and that the event exists on that channel. Restream documents the selection workflow in its existing-event guide.

Connect an existing event with Custom RTMP
- In YouTube Live Control Room, open the scheduled event and copy its stream URL and stream key.
- In Restream, add a Custom RTMP channel and enter the YouTube credentials.
- Enable that destination for the Restream stream you plan to use.
- Check the event’s YouTube auto-start and auto-stop settings. If either is disabled, you may need to take the corresponding action manually in YouTube.
Keep the stream key private: anyone who has it may be able to send a feed to the event. Custom RTMP is useful when manual credentials fit your workflow, but it is not equivalent to Restream’s native YouTube integration for API-dependent features.
Recreate the recurring schedule in Restream
- Choose the right source type. Restream supports scheduling from an existing stream card, Studio setup, RTMP setup, or prerecorded video or playlist. Match the choice to the Gyre workflow you are replacing.
- Create an event for each date. Reuse the stream configuration where useful, but create a new YouTube event for each occurrence in the series. Do not plan to reuse an event after it has gone live.
- Enter and verify event details. Set the title, description, thumbnail, privacy, date, time, and time zone for that occurrence, then select the correct YouTube destination.
- Schedule prerecorded content if applicable. Restream documents scheduled video and playlist events; prerecorded events automatically go live at their scheduled time. Confirm that the selected video or playlist is the intended source.
- Repeat for future dates. A reusable stream setup can save configuration work, but it does not remove the need for separate YouTube event instances.
Restream’s event guide says Events are available on all plans, while free-plan event thumbnails carry Restream branding. Its scheduling guide covers scheduled Studio, RTMP, and prerecorded content. Check your account for current plan entitlements and labels, which can change.

Verify the new setup before retiring Gyre
- Confirm that each Restream occurrence points to the intended YouTube event and channel.
- Check event title, thumbnail, privacy, date, time, and time zone against your inventory.
- Confirm the correct prerecorded video or playlist is selected, or that the intended encoder feed is ready.
- Check YouTube auto-start and auto-stop behavior if you used Custom RTMP.
- Test the configuration without prematurely going live to a one-time event. Restream cautions against going live to an event before its scheduled time.
Once you have verified the replacement schedule and source, you can decide when to stop the old Gyre workflow. Avoid deleting or disabling the existing setup until you are confident the new events and content are correct.
