Switching a continuous YouTube broadcast from Restream to Gyre means setting up a new Gyre stream—not transferring a live encoder session. Prepare and upload your prerecorded videos to Gyre, connect the intended YouTube channel, then verify the new broadcast before stopping Restream. The reviewed documentation does not promise a zero-interruption handoff, so plan a controlled cutover.
Restream and Gyre work differently
Restream’s documented encoder workflow sends a feed from streaming software through Restream to selected destinations. Its YouTube integration can also connect to an existing YouTube event. Gyre’s documented continuous-stream workflow uses prerecorded video files uploaded to Gyre, arranged in a playlist, and broadcast after connecting a YouTube channel. These are distinct setup paths, not a Restream configuration that Gyre is documented to import. Restream encoder workflow; Restream existing-event workflow; Gyre.
Before switching, decide whether Gyre’s uploaded-video loop matches your broadcast. If the current Restream stream depends on a live camera or encoder feed, prepare prerecorded files for Gyre’s workflow; do not expect the live feed or its settings to move automatically.
How to switch the 24/7 stream
-
Record the current YouTube setup
Note the channel, current event or stream arrangement, title, description, visibility, and any viewer-facing schedule. Check these in YouTube Studio so you can recreate or verify the intended viewer experience in Gyre. Keep the stream key out of screenshots and shared notes. YouTube describes stream keys as “like your YouTube stream’s password and address”; reset one if it may have been exposed. YouTube Help: stream settings.

Prepare and upload videos to Gyre
Upload the prerecorded source files to Gyre storage, create a playlist, and arrange the playback order. Check that the files are suitable for the intended YouTube output before relying on the playlist for continuous playback. Gyre’s help documentation provides its preparation guidance: How to prepare videos for streaming on Gyre.
-
Connect the intended YouTube channel in Gyre
Use Gyre’s account connection and stream setup to authorize the correct channel and configure the broadcast. Gyre’s product page describes connecting an account, scheduling a 24/7 stream, and starting it. A Gyre update describes YouTube API authorization and creating a broadcast with title, description, tags, and thumbnail parameters. Because account interfaces and behavior can change, verify the channel and event in YouTube Studio rather than assuming the setup selected the right destination. Verify the Gyre broadcast before stopping Restream
Confirm the target channel, title, description, thumbnail, privacy, playback, and playlist behavior in YouTube Studio and on the public or intended-viewer playback page. The reviewed documentation does not establish that Gyre preserves a particular existing event ID or guarantees uninterrupted transfer. Keep Restream running until the Gyre broadcast is visible and playing as intended.
-
Stop the old Restream output carefully
Once the Gyre stream is verified, stop the Restream output that is feeding the old broadcast. Restream documents toggling channel destinations in a stream setup and connecting or disconnecting an existing YouTube event. Check which service is feeding which event before stopping anything, so you do not end the wrong broadcast. Restream existing-event guidance.

Check video settings and YouTube requirements
Use the platform-specific recommendations for the output you configure; they are not universal guarantees. Restream’s current YouTube guide lists H.264, 240p–2160p, 3,000–40,000 Kbps depending on resolution and frame rate, up to 60 FPS, CBR, and a 2-second keyframe interval (maximum 4 seconds). Gyre’s preparation article gives narrower HD/full-HD encoding guidance. Use the relevant service’s instructions for your chosen output and confirm the resulting YouTube playback. Restream YouTube guide; Gyre video preparation.
Before going live, make sure you have the rights to stream every video and its audio, and review YouTube’s rules for live content. A continuous playlist is not by itself proof that the content is permitted or eligible for monetization. The cited workflow documentation does not establish a blanket copyright or reused-content exception for prerecorded streams.

Plan for archives and cutover gaps
Restream’s YouTube guide says YouTube has no stream duration limit but archives only streams under 12 hours. For a continuous 24/7 broadcast, do not assume the entire stream will be available as one ordinary archived video. Arrange separate recordings or VODs if you need a complete archive, and verify current YouTube behavior before relying on it. Restream YouTube guidance.
There is no documented guarantee of a seamless handoff between an active Restream stream and a newly configured Gyre stream. Schedule the change for a time when a brief interruption is acceptable, and check the new event from a viewer’s perspective before ending the old output.

Troubleshooting the switch
- The Gyre stream appears on the wrong channel: Recheck the authorized account and destination in Gyre, then verify the broadcast in YouTube Studio before stopping Restream.
- The new broadcast is not visible or does not play: Confirm Gyre has started the intended broadcast, the uploaded files are present, and the playlist is configured. Do not stop the old output until the new one is playing as intended.
- The playlist does not match the expected sequence: Reopen the Gyre playlist and check its order and included files; verify playback rather than assuming upload order determines the loop.
- The existing YouTube event ends unexpectedly: Check which service is connected to that event. Restream supports existing-event workflows, while Gyre’s described API automation creates broadcasts; the sources do not establish that the same event is retained.
- A stream key may have been exposed: Treat it as a credential and reset it through YouTube’s stream settings. Do not include it in messages, screenshots, or public documentation.
Or let it run in the cloud
If your goal is simply to keep prerecorded video streaming on YouTube, StreamNeo is another option: upload your video, add your YouTube stream key, and go live. Nothing has to stay on at home; it streams the uploaded file at its original quality up to 4K 60fps for one flat price per slot, and automatically recovers if YouTube drops the stream. The first day is free with no card. Monthly: $9.99 per month. StreamNeo is YouTube-only and plays uploaded videos rather than a live camera feed. See StreamNeo or start the free first day.
