Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problems2Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitches3Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsYes—if your particular NAS can run FFmpeg continuously, sustain the required workload and upload the stream reliably. FFmpeg can loop a file indefinitely, while YouTube accepts encoder-based live streams sent to its stream URL with a stream key. That makes the setup technically feasible, but it does not guarantee 24/7 uptime or prove that any specific NAS model can handle it.
How the NAS-to-YouTube workflow works
The NAS stores and reads the prerecorded video. FFmpeg sends it as a live encoder feed to YouTube. YouTube’s Live Control Room supplies the stream URL and key that connect the two. See FFmpeg’s command-line documentation and YouTube’s encoder setup guide.
- Check the NAS. Confirm that the exact model and operating system support running FFmpeg continuously, either as a native package or in a supported container. Check codec availability and whether the model can sustain the intended workload; compatibility and performance are model-specific.
- Prepare the video. Put the file somewhere the NAS can read reliably, and confirm that its video and audio formats are compatible with the output you intend to send. Transcoding may require substantially different processing capacity from sending video without video re-encoding; validate the exact setup rather than assuming a particular NAS can handle a given resolution or frame rate.
- Enable YouTube live streaming. In YouTube Live Control Room, follow the encoder workflow to obtain the stream URL and stream key. YouTube says the stream key acts like a password and address for the feed, so keep it private. A channel must be verified and must not have had live-streaming restrictions in the past 90 days to enable live streaming; check eligibility in Live Control Room. See YouTube’s live-streaming tips.
- Configure FFmpeg to loop and send the file. FFmpeg documents
-stream_loop -1for infinite input looping and-refor reading an input at its native frame rate—useful when sending a file in real time. Place input options before the relevant-i. The command below is a shape to adapt, not a ready-to-run command:
ffmpeg -re -stream_loop -1 -i input.mp4 ... OUTPUT
The omitted output arguments matter: the correct muxer, codecs, bitrate, stream URL, stream key and any transcoding options depend on your media and YouTube settings. FFmpeg options apply to the next input or output, so option order matters. Avoid exposing the stream key in public scripts or logs where practical. See FFmpeg’s CLI documentation and YouTube’s live-stream settings guide.
Choose output settings and check upload capacity
Use YouTube’s current encoder recommendations as your compatibility baseline rather than treating a single bitrate or preset as universal. The required bitrate depends on resolution and frame rate, and the NAS must also be capable of producing the chosen output if transcoding is required.

- Entry-level NAS Personal Storage:UGREEN NAS DH2300 is your first and best NAS made easy. It is designed for beginners who want a simple, private way to store videos, photos and personal files, which is intuitive for users moving from cloud storage or external drives and move away from scattered date across devices. This entry-level NAS 2-bay perfect for personal entertainment, photo storage, and easy data backup (doesn't support Docker or virtual machines).
- Set Your Devices Free, Expand Your Digital World: This unified storage hub supports massive capacity up to 64TB.*Storage drives not included. Stop Deleting, Start Storing. You can store 22 million 3MB images, or 2 million 30MB songs, or 43K 1.5GB movies or 67 million 1MB documents! UGREEN NAS is a better way to free up storage across all your devices such as phones, computers, tablets and also does automatic backups across devices regardless of the operating system—Window, iOS, Android or macOS.
- The Smarter Long-term Way to Store: Unlike cloud storage with recurring monthly fees, a UGREEN NAS enclosure requires only a one-time purchase for long-term use. For example, you only need to pay $459.98 for a NAS, while for cloud storage, you need to pay $719.88 per year, $2,159.64 for 3 years, $3,599.40 for 5 years. You will save $6,738.82 over 10 years with UGREEN NAS! *NAS cost based on DH2300 + 12TB HDD; cloud cost based on 12TB plan (e.g. $59.99/month).
- Blazing Speed, Minimal Power: Equipped with a high-performance processor, 1GbE port, and 4GB RAM on Board, this NAS handles multiple tasks with ease. File transfers reach up to 125MB/s—a 1GB file takes only 8 seconds. Don't let slow clouds hold you back; they often need over 100 seconds for the same task. The difference is clear.
- Let AI Better Organize Your Memories: UGREEN NAS uses AI to tag faces, locations, texts, and objects—so you can effortlessly find any photo by searching for who or what's in it in seconds. It also automatically finds and deletes similar or duplicate photo, backs up live photos and allows you to share them with your friends or family with just one tap. Everything stays effortlessly organized, powered by intelligent tagging and recognition.
- Video and audio: YouTube’s encoder guide lists H.264, H.265 and AV1 for video, and AAC or MP3 for audio.
- Rate control: YouTube recommends constant bitrate (CBR).
- Keyframes: YouTube recommends a two-second keyframe interval and says it should not exceed four seconds.
- Transport: Use RTMPS, YouTube’s encrypted RTMP variant, when your encoder supports it and it suits your setup.
- Bandwidth: YouTube recommends upload capacity with 20% headroom above the total stream bitrate. A connection that is fast enough on average can still be unsuitable if it is unreliable; YouTube warns that network disruption can break a stream.
Consult YouTube’s encoder settings, its RTMPS guidance and its streaming tips for the applicable settings and recommendations.
Test the stream and plan for interruptions
An infinite input loop only repeats the file; it does not guarantee that FFmpeg, the NAS, the network or YouTube will remain connected. A process exit, power loss, router or ISP problem, or ingest interruption can stop the broadcast. Do not treat the loop option as an automatic-recovery or uptime feature.

- Start a test broadcast and check the live preview in YouTube before relying on the setup.
- Verify that viewers can access the stream and check both audio and video quality, as YouTube recommends.
- Observe the NAS, network and stream during a sustained run. Confirm that the intended process and any supported restart or power-recovery behavior work on your exact NAS; no model-specific compatibility or recovery behavior is established here.
- If the stream drops, check whether FFmpeg is still running, whether the NAS can read the source file, whether upload connectivity is restored, and whether the encoder is still using the correct URL and key. Then confirm the preview in Live Control Room before considering the feed restored.
For diagnosing setup or output issues, compare your encoder configuration with YouTube’s live-stream settings and its testing and monitoring tips.
Copyright, channel eligibility and archives
Technical ability to send a video does not establish that you have the rights to stream its audio and video or that the content meets YouTube’s requirements. Confirm that you have the necessary rights and review the rules that apply to your channel and content before broadcasting. StreamNeo’s copyright safety checklist is a practical pre-stream check; it is not a substitute for rights or policy review.

YouTube says streams under 12 hours are automatically archived. Do not assume that one uninterrupted 24-hour broadcast will be saved as a single automatically archived video: the cited YouTube guidance does not fully specify how longer continuous sessions are handled. If a reliable archive matters, verify current behavior and plan session boundaries or a separate recording. See YouTube’s encoder guide.
Or let it run in the cloud
If you want a prerecorded video looping on YouTube without leaving a NAS or other computer running, StreamNeo is a cloud option: upload a recording or build a playlist, add your YouTube stream key once, and go live. It plays uploaded videos to YouTube; it does not stream from a camera.
