To capture Google results for a chosen language and region, set the results region in Google Search settings, then use the Results Language Filter on the results page or Advanced Search. These controls do different jobs: the region sets a regional preference, while the language filter narrows web results. Google’s display-language setting changes the interface, not the language of the results.
Set the results region and language separately
Google does not have one setting that guarantees every part of a search page will match a chosen country and language. Configure the two relevant preferences separately, then check what the page actually shows.

Configure Google Search before capturing
- Choose a results region. Open Google Search settings, find the results-region control, choose the region you want, and save. Google presents this separately from display language. Recheck the selected region before a capture; settings may not carry over as expected to a new session. See Google Search settings and Chrome Help on language and region settings.
- Run your exact query. Search for the wording you need to document. Query wording itself is one of the signals Google uses when deciding which languages may be relevant.
- Apply the Results Language Filter. On the results page, click Tools, then Any language, and choose the preferred language. Google documents this control and its limitations in Search Help: Filter your search results by language.
- Check the page before taking the screenshot. Confirm the query, visible language filter, and selected region where available. Use your browser’s or operating system’s screenshot function; the keystrokes vary by device, so there is no single universal shortcut.
Use Advanced Search as an alternative
If you prefer to set language before submitting a search, open Google Advanced Search and choose the language filter there. Advanced Search can also expose regional options. Confirm the resulting page afterward, because filters narrow the experience but do not control every search feature. Make the screenshot reproducible
A screenshot records the page that appeared under particular conditions; it is not a canonical or guaranteed result set. Search results can vary with location, language, device, and query features, as Google describes in its explanation of how Search works. For a comparison or audit, record these details alongside the image:

- The exact query, including punctuation or quoted phrases.
- The chosen Results Language Filter and results region.
- The date and time of capture, including time zone if relevant.
- Whether you were signed in and the device or browser used.
- Any visible filter state that helps another person understand the capture.
Keeping these conditions consistent improves repeatability, but does not guarantee Google will return the same results in another session.
Troubleshoot missing or unexpected language results
- The language option is missing: Google says the Results Language Filter does not appear when English is the only selected language. Check the language options available to your Search experience or try Advanced Search.
- The interface changed but results did not: You changed display language, which controls buttons and menus. Apply the Results Language Filter to narrow web results.
- Some results or features remain in another language: The filter is not applied to every Search feature, and language detection can be uncertain for mixed-language or unclear pages.
- The regional results still seem local to you: Region preference and physical location can both affect Search. Record the actual capture conditions rather than assuming the selected region fully overrides location.
- A saved preference does not appear in a later session: Reopen Search settings and verify the region, then reapply the language filter on the results page before capturing.
- You are considering URL parameters such as
hlorgl: Google documents these for the Programmable Search Engine API, wherehlidentifies interface language andglboosts results associated with a country. Frequently Asked Questions
Can I make every Google result appear in my chosen language?
No. The Results Language Filter narrows web results, but Google says it may not affect some features and can miss pages whose language is difficult to detect.
Does changing Google’s display language change the country of results?
No. Display language controls interface text. Set a results region separately, and account for the influence of actual location.
