You can store a video in OVHcloud Object Storage and broadcast it repeatedly on YouTube Live, but the bucket does not itself play or stream the file. The workflow has three parts: upload the video to an S3-compatible OVHcloud bucket, make it available to a playback-and-encoding setup that supports looping, then send that encoder’s feed to YouTube using the stream URL and stream key from YouTube Studio. The exact bridge depends on the encoder you choose; the official OVHcloud and YouTube instructions do not establish that a particular encoder can play an OVHcloud object URL directly.
What you need to connect
- An OVHcloud S3 Object Storage bucket and a video file.
- A playback and encoding arrangement that can access that file and repeat it. Confirm its supported media sources and loop controls in that encoder’s current documentation.
- A YouTube channel eligible for live streaming, plus the stream URL and stream key shown in YouTube Studio’s Live Control Room.
- A reliable outbound internet connection from the machine or service running the encoder.
OVHcloud describes Object Storage as a place for static files, including video, accessed through an S3-compatible API. Its reference to video streaming as a potential use case does not make the bucket a live encoder. YouTube’s workflow, by contrast, requires an encoder to send the live feed. Step 1: Upload the video to OVHcloud Object Storage
- Create or select an S3 Object Storage bucket. Choose the intended OVHcloud region and confirm the current endpoint and rules for the storage class you plan to use.
- Upload the source file. Use the OVHcloud control panel or an S3-compatible client. OVHcloud lists AWS CLI,
s3cmd, and other commands as options for S3 Object Storage; the endpoint depends on the region. Follow OVHcloud’s current instructions for your chosen client rather than assuming one region’s endpoint applies everywhere. - Check that the upload completed. Verify the object is present and that you can retrieve it through the access method your eventual encoder supports.
Do not confuse OVHcloud’s S3 Object Storage classes with its older Swift Object Storage classes: they use different protocols. Step 2: Make the file available to a looping encoder
The encoder must be able to read the video and play it repeatedly while producing a continuous live feed. The right setup depends on the encoder’s documented input formats and loop capability. Before configuring YouTube, establish and test both.

Choose a supported access method
OVHcloud says stored objects are private by default and documents presigned URLs for temporary downloads. A presigned URL is a bearer link: anyone who obtains it can download the object. The available official documentation does not confirm whether a particular encoder can read an OVHcloud object directly, accept a presigned URL, or loop playback from either. Do not assume that an S3 object URL is a playable encoder input merely because the bucket uses an S3-compatible API. Verify looping before a long broadcast
- Confirm the encoder can access and decode the file, including its video and audio streams.
- Confirm its repeat-playback behavior: whether it loops one file, a playlist, or both, and what happens at the end of playback.
- Run a short test through the entire path. Check that playback restarts as expected and that there is no unintended gap, frozen frame, or silent interval at the loop point.
- Keep storage credentials and temporary download links out of public pages, screenshots, repositories, and public configuration.
The exact menu names, commands, and loop setting vary by encoder. No specific encoder’s support for direct OVHcloud playback or repeat playback is established here, so do not apply a generic command or assume a URL will work without verifying that product’s own documentation.

Step 3: Configure YouTube Live
- Check channel eligibility. YouTube requires channel verification and no live-streaming restrictions in the preceding 90 days. Enabling live streaming for the first time may take up to 24 hours, so activate it before a scheduled broadcast. (YouTube live eligibility)
- Open Live Control Room in YouTube Studio. Create or select the live stream you intend to use.
- Copy the stream URL and stream key. Enter them in the encoder’s YouTube or RTMP output settings, following the encoder’s instructions. YouTube says, “Stream keys are like your YouTube stream’s password and address.” Treat the key as a secret. (YouTube encoder setup; Manage live stream settings)
- Start the encoder and check YouTube’s preview. Confirm the preview has the expected picture and sound before starting the broadcast from Live Control Room as directed for that stream.
- Monitor the live stream. YouTube recommends testing in advance, checking outbound bandwidth, leaving bandwidth headroom above the stream bitrate, and monitoring stream quality. (YouTube streaming tips)
Protect storage access and the stream key
- Keep the YouTube key private. Do not put it in a public guide, screenshot, source repository, or publicly accessible bucket configuration. If it is exposed, reset it in Live Control Room and update the encoder with the replacement. (Manage live stream settings)
- Limit access to the video. OVHcloud objects are private by default. If you use a presigned URL, share it only with the intended encoder or operator and handle it as a credential because anyone who gets the link can download the object. (OVHcloud Object Storage FAQ)
- Do not expose storage credentials. Avoid embedding credentials in public scripts or configurations. Use the access controls and secret-handling method supported by your client and encoder.
Troubleshoot a failed or interrupted stream

Plan for copyright and ongoing operation
Make sure you have the rights needed to broadcast the video and its audio on YouTube. A file being stored in your OVHcloud bucket does not establish permission to stream it. Check YouTube’s current rules and any rights-holder terms before scheduling a long or recurring broadcast.
Also account for the work outside the bucket: the encoder must remain able to retrieve and play the source, send a continuous feed, and recover from interruptions. Costs and throughput limits depend on the OVHcloud service, region, and implementation; check the current terms for the specific services you select rather than relying on an assumed rate or bandwidth figure.
