Yes. Having fewer than 1,000 subscribers does not by itself prevent an Indian channel from live streaming on YouTube. The key distinction is how you stream: YouTube’s 50-subscriber minimum applies to mobile live streaming, while its documented encoder and webcam methods do not state a 1,000-subscriber minimum. A continuous playlist is a separate issue: you need a playout setup that loops and reconnects reliably; YouTube’s help pages do not establish a built-in control that endlessly rebroadcasts an existing playlist.

Which subscriber rules apply to your streaming method?

YouTube’s general live-stream requirements are a verified channel and no live-streaming restrictions in the previous 90 days. YouTube also says streamers must be at least 16 years old. Its documented options include mobile, webcam, encoder, and console streaming. The official guidance reviewed does not state a 1,000-subscriber minimum for encoder or webcam streams. YouTube’s live-streaming requirements and methods

Method Subscriber threshold What to expect
Mobile live stream At least 50 subscribers For channels with more than 50 but fewer than 1,000 subscribers, YouTube may limit viewers and makes the archive private by default.
Encoder or webcam No 1,000-subscriber minimum stated in the reviewed YouTube guidance You still need to meet general live-stream requirements. You need an encoder workflow for a playlist-based feed; YouTube does not document native endless playlist looping.

The mobile rules matter only if you use the mobile live-stream feature. YouTube says a first mobile live stream may take up to 24 hours to become available after enabling live streaming. Once a channel reaches 1,000 subscribers, removal of the mobile audience limitation may take several weeks. If its count later falls below 1,000, the under-1,000 mobile limitation returns; mobile access is retained unless the channel falls below 50 subscribers. What it takes to keep a playlist live continuously

Eligibility lets you send a live stream; it does not make a playlist run continuously. YouTube’s encoder instructions describe creating or scheduling a stream in YouTube Studio, copying the stream URL and key into an encoder, then starting the feed. They do not describe a YouTube-native feature that takes an existing playlist and loops it indefinitely. Nor do they guarantee that a particular third-party tool will keep playing, restart after an interruption, or remain online continuously. YouTube’s encoder setup instructions

For a do-it-yourself setup, choose an encoder or playout tool that explicitly supports playlist playback and looping. Before relying on it for a long-running stream, check that it can repeat the playlist, resume or reconnect after a network or encoder interruption, and keep sending a valid feed. Test the full path—including the YouTube stream key—before promoting the stream. A computer-based setup also depends on the computer, encoder, power, and internet connection staying available.

  1. Meet YouTube’s account requirements. Verify the channel and check that it has no live-stream restrictions from the previous 90 days. Enable live streaming in YouTube Studio; allow up to 24 hours for a first mobile live stream to become available.
  2. Create the stream in YouTube Studio. Create or schedule a live stream, then copy its stream URL and stream key as directed by YouTube.
  3. Configure the playout encoder. Enter the URL and key, select the playlist, and enable looping if the encoder supports it. Confirm its restart and reconnect behavior rather than assuming those features.
  4. Test before going long. Start a private or otherwise appropriate test, confirm that the feed reaches YouTube, that the playlist advances and loops, and that recovery works after a controlled interruption.
  5. Monitor the live session. Watch YouTube Studio and the encoder for warnings, a dropped feed, or a failed reconnect. YouTube says encoder streams shorter than 12 hours are automatically archived; do not assume the same archive outcome for longer streams.

Check rights before looping content

You need all rights required to use the content in a live stream, including applicable music rights, and must follow YouTube’s Community Guidelines and applicable law. YouTube scans live streams for third-party content. If it detects a match, it may replace the stream with a placeholder and warn you to stop; a stream can be interrupted or terminated if the content remains. Even if you have a licence, the rights owner may need to add your channel to its Content ID allowlist to prevent interruptions. Going live does not guarantee monetization

Live-stream access and approval to earn money are separate questions. YouTube’s monetization policy says highly repetitive or mass-produced content may be ineligible, and reused content must meet the policy’s requirements for meaningful original value. YouTube clarified on July 15, 2025 that repetitive or mass-produced content is included in its “inauthentic content” policy; it described this as a clarification, not a change to the reused-content policy. Common problems and what to check

  • You cannot start a mobile stream: Check that the channel has at least 50 subscribers, is verified, has live streaming enabled, and has had no live-stream restriction in the previous 90 days. A first mobile stream can take up to 24 hours to become available.
  • You have under 1,000 subscribers and few viewers: If you are streaming from a phone, YouTube may limit the audience. This mobile-specific rule does not establish the same limit for encoder or webcam streams.
  • The archive is private: For a mobile live stream with more than 50 but fewer than 1,000 subscribers, private-by-default archives are expected. Check the archive’s visibility in YouTube Studio.
  • The playlist stops or fails to loop: Confirm that looping is enabled in the playout tool and test its restart behavior. Subscriber count does not control playlist playback or guarantee uptime.
  • YouTube interrupts the stream: Check Studio alerts for a third-party content match. Remove material you do not have rights to use; if it is licensed, ask the rights owner whether your channel must be allowlisted.
  • The encoder feed does not connect: Recheck that the stream URL and key were copied into the correct encoder fields for the stream you created or scheduled in YouTube Studio.
