ScreenshotMachine’s pricing page, checked on October 3, 2026, lists the Starter plan at €0 with 100 fresh screenshots per month. The page lists full-length captures among the free features. The allowance is described as monthly, but the reviewed pages do not spell out the account-cycle reset date or whether unused captures roll over. Treat the quota as a monthly limit, not a guaranteed allowance that resets on a particular calendar date.
Fresh screenshots, cached results, and billing
The 100-shot allowance applies to fresh captures. ScreenshotMachine’s pricing FAQ says: “No. We charge only for new, fresh screenshots.” It also says screenshots are cached for 14 days, and loading a cached screenshot is not billed.

The API reference documents cacheLimit as a setting from 0 to 14 days. The default is 14; setting it to 0 requests a fresh screenshot. A cache hit may therefore return an earlier image rather than recapturing the current page. Use a fresh capture when the page may have changed and you need an up-to-date result; use the cache when reuse of a recent image is acceptable.
Does the free ScreenshotMachine tier add a watermark?
The reviewed official pricing and API documentation do not say whether free-tier images include a ScreenshotMachine watermark, whether a setting controls one, or whether paid plans remove it. That missing information is not evidence that the images are watermark-free. If a watermark would make the output unusable, confirm the policy with ScreenshotMachine or inspect a newly generated free-tier image before building it into a workflow.

What happens when you reach the limit?
The API reference documents no_credits as the error code for an exhausted account and says more fresh screenshots need to be bought. The reviewed documentation does not give a detailed free-account reset or recovery procedure. Do not assume that a failed fresh capture will automatically wait for a monthly reset or that the free plan has a paid overage rate.

For paid packages, ScreenshotMachine says overage billing is rounded down to groups of 1,000 screenshots. Its FAQ gives the example that 999 or fewer additional screenshots in a billing period remain within the package price. The pricing page also describes cached impressions as unlimited. These paid-plan rates and rules do not establish a charge for exceeding the free allowance.
How to decide whether the free tier is enough
- Occasional, non-time-sensitive captures: 100 fresh shots monthly may be enough if cached images are useful and the 14-day cache window suits your workflow.
- Frequent updates or repeat captures: account for fresh captures rather than total requests; setting
cacheLimit=0requests fresh images and can consume the quota faster. - Watermark-sensitive work: verify the generated output or obtain vendor confirmation before relying on the free tier; the reviewed official pages do not establish its watermark policy.
