Crashes, No Sound, or Screen Glitches?
Random freezes, missing sound and display glitches usually trace back to one bad driver. Find and replace yours safely.Free scan · under a minuteWindows Errors? Fix Them Before They Spread
Repair common Windows errors and clear accumulated junk for a smoother, more stable PC - no reinstall needed.Free scan · no reinstallTo run a 24/7 playlist rotation from files in a media folder, use an encoder that can play those files in a continuous sequence and send the resulting live feed to YouTube. Create a live event in YouTube Studio, enter its stream URL and key in the encoder, start the encoder, verify the preview, then select Go live. The computer, media storage, power, internet connection, and encoder must remain available for the whole broadcast.
Before you build the rotation
Confirm that YouTube Live is ready
If the channel has never streamed live before, YouTube says first-time live-streaming enablement may take up to 24 hours. Set it up ahead of the planned start rather than expecting immediate access. YouTube’s current help pages do not display a publication date; labels and eligibility details can change.
Check rights for every item
Make sure you have the rights needed to stream every video and audio track in the folder. YouTube scans live streams for matches to third-party content. A match can lead to a warning and replacement of the stream with a placeholder; continued third-party content may interrupt or terminate the stream, and a strike can also end it. Even if you have a license, YouTube says the rights owner may need to add your channel to its Content ID allowlist for the stream to avoid interruption. See YouTube’s copyright guidance for live streams.
Organize the media folder
Keep the rotation’s intended files together and use clear filenames so you can identify and order them. These are practical organizational choices, not YouTube requirements. Arrange playback in a playlist-capable source that can repeat the sequence, and confirm that the machine running the encoder can access the files continuously. For a local setup, the media must remain available along with the computer, power, network, and encoder.

Choose how to play and send the files
YouTube lists OBS as free, open-source streaming software and also lists Gyre as a cloud tool for streaming prerecorded videos 24/7. A local playlist-capable encoder plays the folder’s content and sends its composed output to YouTube. YouTube’s encoder help does not document specific OBS playlist-source controls or current menu labels, so consult the current OBS documentation for exact setup steps rather than relying on a potentially outdated menu path. YouTube’s listing does not establish a reliability comparison or current pricing for OBS or Gyre.
Create the YouTube live event and connect the encoder
- In YouTube Studio, open Live Control Room and create or schedule a live stream. YouTube’s interface labels may change.
- Copy the stream URL and stream key shown for the event into the encoder’s streaming settings. Treat the key like a password: do not include it in a public post, recording, or shared screenshot.
- Set the encoder’s playback source to the prepared sequence and configure it to send that output to YouTube. Confirm the intended order and that the sequence is set to continue repeating; exact playlist controls depend on the encoder you choose.
- Start the encoder’s output. Wait for the incoming feed to appear in Live Control Room, check the preview, and select Go live.
- After launch, check both the encoder output and the YouTube preview to confirm the feed is still arriving and the intended media is playing.
Keep the stream running and understand YouTube’s event model
A local rotation runs only while the playback source, computer, storage, power, network, and encoder remain available. If any of these fails, the live feed can stop. YouTube’s Live Streaming API distinguishes the broadcast—the event viewers watch—from the stream that carries the audio and video. Its guide describes keeping a 24/7 feed live and binding a separate broadcast to the same stream; that is an API workflow, not a requirement to create multiple broadcasts for an ordinary playlist. The guide was last updated 2026-09-14 UTC: Understanding broadcasts and streams and YouTube’s 24/7 live-streaming guide.

YouTube says streams under 12 hours are automatically archived. Do not treat that statement as a guarantee that a longer continuous session will be archived. If keeping a replay matters, plan how to preserve a copy independently of assuming YouTube will archive a stream longer than 12 hours. Fix common setup and continuity problems
No live option or event cannot start
If this is the channel’s first live stream, allow up to 24 hours for YouTube to enable the feature. Check Live Control Room again after that period and follow any eligibility prompts YouTube presents.
YouTube does not receive the encoder feed
Check that the encoder has the stream URL and key for the event you created, that its output is running, and that the machine has internet access. If the key may have been exposed, replace it in YouTube and update the encoder with the new key.

The preview works, but the sequence does not rotate as intended
Check the encoder’s playlist order and repeat setting, and confirm that every media file remains accessible from the playback source. Playlist controls vary by encoder; YouTube does not specify OBS menu steps in its encoder help.
The stream is interrupted after a copyright match
Review the warning and identify the matched material. Remove or replace content you do not have permission to stream. If the material is licensed, contact the rights owner about Content ID allowlisting; a license alone does not ensure uninterrupted live playback.
The broadcast stops when the computer or connection fails
For a local setup, check the machine, power, storage access, internet connection, and encoder. A local folder workflow relies on those components staying available. A cloud-hosted approach shifts the always-on operation away from the home computer; verify any provider’s current features, terms, and reliability claims before choosing it.
Costs and monetization considerations
A local workflow avoids a hosted-service fee if you already have suitable equipment, but it uses your computer, storage, electricity, and internet connection continuously. A hosted service charges for operation in the cloud instead; compare its current price and terms with your local costs and the controls you need. YouTube says creators in the YouTube Partner Program may monetize live streams. Eligibility and monetization are separate from the choice of encoder or hosting method.
