On desktop Chrome in India, press Ctrl+P on Windows or Linux, or Command+P on Mac. Choose Save as PDF, check the preview for Bengali text, then save. If Bengali is missing, compare the webpage, print preview and saved PDF in that order: each check helps locate whether the problem appears before printing, during preview or in the exported file.
Save a webpage as PDF in desktop Chrome
- Open the webpage and wait for its content and fonts to finish loading.
- Press Ctrl+P on Windows or Linux, or Command+P on Mac.
- In the print dialog, select Save as PDF as the destination. Google documents this built-in print workflow in its Chrome printing instructions.
- Check the preview, especially any Bengali text, before saving. Choose the destination and filename for the PDF, then save it.
- Open the saved PDF in Chrome or another PDF viewer and check that the text is readable there too.
This built-in workflow needs neither a physical printer nor a PDF extension. If Bengali is missing, the checks below can help narrow down where it disappears.
Find where Bengali text disappears
Check the same Bengali passage at three points: the webpage, Chrome’s print preview and the saved PDF. The cause depends on the page, operating system and print result; these checks are diagnostic, not proof of one universal fix.

Check Bengali font coverage and shaping
Bengali characters require suitable glyph coverage and complex text-layout support. Noto’s Bengali documentation discusses that shaping requirement: Noto Sans Bengali UI specimen. If text is absent or malformed, an installed Bengali font is a reasonable fallback to test, but it cannot fix every website-specific print style or PDF export problem.

Noto’s font-use guidance distinguishes interface fonts from document fonts: for documents, use the font version without the “UI” suffix; the UI version is intended for interfaces with limited vertical space. See Noto’s usage guidance. Noto Sans Bengali is one documented option. Install a trusted Bengali-capable document font for your operating system, restart Chrome, reload the page and compare it with print preview. Exact installation steps vary by operating system and are not covered here. Noto’s README states that its fonts are available under the SIL Open Font License 1.1: Noto Sans Bengali license.
Update Chrome if printing itself misbehaves
Chrome updates provide current features and security fixes, but updating alone is not an established fix for missing Bengali glyphs. To check for an update, open Help > About Google Chrome and follow Google’s Chrome update instructions. After updating, retry the same page and compare its preview with the PDF.

Should you install a Bengali font extension?
Chrome’s built-in Save as PDF does not require an extension. If local Bengali font support is absent, the Chrome Web Store listing for Bengali Font Pack says it adds Bengali fallback font files for systems without support. The listing reports version 3.0, updated June 12, 2024; it does not establish that the extension will fix PDF output on your particular machine.
- Review the publisher and requested permissions before installing third-party software.
- After installation, reload Chrome and retest the webpage, preview and saved PDF separately.
- If the webpage already displays Bengali correctly, an extension may not address a print-style or export problem.
