For a Bengali-language YouTube Live channel, encode the video using a YouTube-compatible stream format; Bengali does not require a special video codec. Handle Bangla text separately: keep captions in Unicode UTF-8, and check that any on-screen text is rendered with correct Bengali shaping. This guide treats “always-on” as a continuous live stream, whether you send it from your own encoder or run an uploaded-video loop in the cloud.
Choose how the channel will stay live
You need a continuous source, such as a scheduled program or looped playlist, and a way to send it to YouTube Live. With a do-it-yourself setup, an encoder sends the video and audio over an internet connection. YouTube recommends RTMPS, a secure extension of RTMP. Its encoder guidance also lists RTMP/RTMPS, H.264, H.265/HEVC, AV1, frame rates up to 60 fps, AAC or MP3 audio, constant bitrate (CBR), and two-second keyframes (not exceeding four seconds). The encoder and YouTube ingestion route must support your chosen combination. See YouTube’s encoder settings and bitrate guidance.
Use a practical baseline
For a straightforward starting point, choose H.264 video, AAC audio, CBR, and a two-second keyframe interval. Select a resolution and frame rate your encoder can produce reliably and your upload connection can sustain. Codec choice does not encode Bengali letters; it compresses the video stream.
Set resolution and bitrate for the connection
YouTube’s published H.264 ingest guidance gives these minimum and recommended bitrates. They are platform guidance, not a promise of picture quality or a universal upload-speed target.

| Incoming video | H.264 minimum | H.264 recommended |
|---|---|---|
| 720p at 30 fps | 3 Mbps | 8 Mbps |
| 720p at 60 fps | 3 Mbps | 8 Mbps |
| 1080p at 30 fps | 5 Mbps | 14 Mbps |
| 1080p at 60 fps | 6 Mbps | 17 Mbps |
Run an upload-speed test and test the actual stream. As practical advice, leave additional bandwidth headroom rather than planning to use every bit of measured upload capacity; the amount needed depends on the connection’s stability and other traffic. A 1080p stream is not automatically better if the encoder or connection cannot sustain it. A stable 720p feed can be a better operational choice than a higher-resolution feed that repeatedly stalls.
Set keyframes and bitrate mode
- Bitrate mode: use constant bitrate (CBR) for the baseline setup.
- Keyframes: set a two-second interval where the encoder allows it. YouTube recommends two seconds and says not to exceed four seconds.
- Frame rate: choose a rate supported by the source, encoder, and ingestion route; YouTube’s general encoder guidance includes rates up to 60 fps.
Keep Bangla captions and on-screen text intact
Bangla text can break even when the video stream is valid. Captions and text graphics are a separate rendering and character-encoding problem. Unicode 16.0 identifies the script as “Bengali (Bangla)” and assigns it the block U+0980–U+09FF. Some vowel letters that may look visually composite are encoded as single Unicode characters, so retain the original Unicode text rather than manually decomposing characters. Unicode Standard Version 16.0.

For selectable captions: use UTF-8 SRT or SBV
YouTube’s basic SRT and SBV caption files must be plain UTF-8. These formats use time codes and text; basic SRT/SBV do not support recognized style markup. Prepare the Bengali text in Unicode, save it as plain UTF-8, then add it through YouTube Studio’s caption workflow. YouTube’s caption file guidance.
Selectable captions let viewers turn text on or off, and the caption track can be corrected without re-encoding the picture. Their appearance can vary with the viewer’s device and caption settings.

For text burned into the picture: test the whole rendering chain
Burned-in captions and titles appear in the video for every viewer, but changing them means editing and encoding the picture again. Use a font with Bengali glyph coverage and a text renderer that shapes the actual Bangla correctly. Preview consonant conjuncts, vowel signs, punctuation, and line breaks at the final video resolution. A font file alone does not guarantee that the rendering path will shape every sequence correctly. FFmpeg documents font-family options for relevant subtitle rendering paths; the exact result depends on the build and rendering chain. FFmpeg filter documentation.
Check an exported frame or run a private or unlisted rehearsal before using the graphics in a public continuous stream. Watch for boxes, missing glyphs, separated marks, incorrect conjuncts, or text clipped at the edges.

Choose RTMP/RTMPS or HLS only when the setup calls for it
RTMP/RTMPS is the straightforward default for an encoder that supports YouTube’s standard live workflow. HLS is a distinct ingestion path with additional format requirements; do not apply its settings to an RTMP setup.
| Ingestion path | What to account for |
|---|---|
| RTMP/RTMPS | YouTube’s encoder guide recommends RTMPS. Use a compatible encoder and its supported settings for the selected stream. |
| HLS | YouTube specifies M2TS, H.264 or HEVC video, AAC audio, closed GOPs, HTTPS transport, and media playlists rather than master playlists. HLS is segment-based and usually has higher latency than RTMP- and WebRTC-based ingestion. |
Use the YouTube HLS ingestion requirements if your encoder or workflow specifically needs HLS.

Rehearse and monitor a continuous stream
Before scheduling a long broadcast, rehearse with representative motion and audio—not just a static test image or silence. Confirm that YouTube is receiving data and watch the Live Control Room’s stream-health messages. The Live API documentation describes diagnostic conditions including video starvation, when insufficient video arrives for smooth streaming, and GOP/keyframe intervals that are too long. YouTube Live API documentation.
Encoder settings alone do not establish unattended uptime. Power, network access, the source playlist, encoder behavior, and recovery after a disconnect all matter. A private rehearsal and a monitoring plan help expose problems, but they are not a guarantee of continuous operation. The official guidance cited here does not prescribe one universal redundancy or automatic-restart design; those choices depend on the equipment and service arrangement.
Troubleshoot common Bengali live-stream problems
| Symptom | Likely area to inspect | Practical fix |
|---|---|---|
| Stream health reports video starvation or playback stutters | Insufficient or unstable incoming video; upload capacity may be constrained. | Check the upload connection, reduce resolution or frame rate if needed, and test again while watching stream health. |
| Health diagnostics report GOP or keyframes are too long | Keyframe interval exceeds the recommended timing. | Set the encoder’s keyframe interval to two seconds where supported; do not exceed four seconds. |
| Bangla captions show boxes or missing characters | Caption text encoding or glyph coverage. | Save basic SRT/SBV as plain UTF-8 and check that the selected font includes Bengali glyphs for burned-in text. |
| Joined Bangla letters or vowel marks look wrong in graphics | The renderer may not shape the text as required, even if the font contains the glyphs. | Preview the exact text through the final rendering chain and inspect an exported frame or rehearsal. |
| HLS stream is rejected or behaves differently from an RTMP setup | HLS has separate container, codec, playlist, transport, and GOP requirements. | Check each HLS-specific requirement against YouTube’s HLS documentation instead of carrying over RTMP assumptions. |
Or let it run in the cloud
For a YouTube channel that loops uploaded recordings rather than broadcasting from a live camera, StreamNeo runs the feed from the cloud: upload a recording or build a playlist, add your YouTube stream key, and go live. Your computer and home connection do not have to stay on. It streams the uploaded video as made, up to 4K 60fps, at one flat price per slot; there are no quality tiers or re-encoding. If YouTube drops the stream, StreamNeo automatically recovers. The first day is free with no card, one free day per account. Monthly billing is $9.99 per month. See StreamNeo plans or the copyright safety checklist before setting up a loop. To try it, start your free first day on StreamNeo.
