Design merchandise around the parts of your channel that viewers recognize and care about: your name, original artwork, colors, and community references. Then check that the design works at the size it will be printed, choose a shop or fulfillment route that fits your needs, and order a sample before promoting it. You do not need to use a platform’s logo to make merchandise feel connected to your channel.
Start with your channel identity, not a platform logo
Good streamer merchandise gives viewers a way to recognize or express a connection to your channel. Build the design from elements you own or have permission to use, such as your channel name, an original mascot or symbol, a distinctive color palette, or a phrase your community understands. Before settling on a concept, ask whether someone who follows your channel would understand the reference and whether someone unfamiliar with it would still find the item appealing. A design that depends entirely on a platform logo may be less distinctive and can create trademark problems.
Check platform trademark rules before using its marks
Platform branding is not automatically available for use on products. Twitch’s trademark guidance restricts use of Twitch brand assets on merchandise and manufactured items. It describes a narrow allowance for the Glitch logo beside a channel name to reference a channel on Twitch; that should not be read as general permission to put Twitch branding on merchandise. Review the current Twitch trademark guidance before using any Twitch mark, and check the official rules for any other platform whose branding you are considering. Rules differ by platform and may change.

Make the artwork work on the actual product
A design that looks clear on a monitor may become muddy, cramped, or hard to read when printed. Consider the intended item, the printable area, the viewing distance, and the smallest text or detail. Keep essential wording legible at the product’s actual size, and check how the design looks against the product color.
- Use original artwork or assets whose licenses permit merchandise use.
- Make the channel name and any essential text readable at print size.
- Check contrast and detail on the specific product color and placement.
- Preview the design on the product rather than relying only on a full-size screen image.
- Order a sample when practical; inspect the print and material before promoting the item.
Creator guides discuss apparel and other custom products, but they do not establish a universal standard for print quality. Treat product previews as a starting point, not a substitute for checking a sample when the quality matters to your brand.

Choose how to sell and fulfill the merchandise
A standalone store, a marketplace, or an integrated merchandise provider can each be a route to selling. Print-on-demand is one possible approach: a provider makes and ships an item after an order rather than requiring you to hold stock. The right choice depends on what you want to manage yourself and on the provider’s current terms. Understand YouTube Shopping’s role
YouTube Shopping may let eligible creators tag products from their store, subject to current requirements and availability in the creator’s country. YouTube says the official merchandise retailer or platform—not YouTube itself as a general fulfillment service—is responsible for sales matters including creator payment. The shop sets the countries where its products are sold, which affects the product information shown. See YouTube’s Shopping guidance for current eligibility, supported providers, and details.
Promote merchandise clearly and appropriately
Show the item in a way that lets viewers judge its design, product type, and intended use. If you sell through YouTube Shopping, check the platform’s current rules and the store’s product and country settings. If you stream on Twitch, distinguish a product simply visible in the camera view from a paid sponsor promotion: Twitch lists merchandise merely visible on camera without active paid promotion as an example that does not require its branded-content disclosure tool. Twitch says to use that tool when promoting a paid sponsor during a stream.
