For a simple batch, send one POST request to Browserless’s /screenshot endpoint per URL, save each binary response under a distinct filename, and limit how many requests run at once. Use Browserless’s remote Playwright connection instead when a page needs scripted interaction or state changes before capture. The examples below use placeholders for your Browserless token and endpoint; confirm the current endpoint URL and account concurrency in Browserless’s documentation.
Choose REST or remote Playwright
Pick the REST screenshot endpoint when each job is simply “navigate to this URL and return an image.” It returns image bytes directly, so you do not need to manage a browser connection in your client. Choose a remote Playwright session when you need to interact with the page, control navigation, or inspect and change page state before taking the screenshot. These are workflow differences, not a guarantee that one method is faster.

Prepare a URL list and credentials
Keep the URLs in a file or data source and store your Browserless token in an environment variable or secret manager. Do not commit the token to source control. The endpoint examples use placeholders because the exact endpoint and token format depend on your Browserless account and selected connection method.
For REST captures, the workflow is one POST request to /screenshot for each URL. Send JSON containing the target URL and screenshot options, then write the returned image bytes to a distinct output file. Browserless documents PNG, JPEG, and WebP output; use PNG if you want to follow its quickstart example.

Bulk capture with Browserless REST
This Python example uses requests and a small worker pool. Set BROWSERLESS_SCREENSHOT_ENDPOINT to the full REST screenshot endpoint for your account, including its token query parameter if required by the current Browserless API. The request body and response handling follow the documented REST pattern; confirm any account-specific request options in the Browserless screenshot API documentation.

print(result)Check the API’s current option names before adapting the example: Browserless supports output format and other capture controls, but request schemas can evolve. Do not treat a successful HTTP response alone as proof that the correct page rendered; inspect representative output and record failures per URL.
Keep filenames unique
The example numbers outputs so two URLs cannot silently overwrite a file with the same basename. If you derive filenames from URL paths instead, sanitize them and still handle duplicate paths, query strings, and empty paths.

Use bounded concurrency
A worker pool limits simultaneous requests. Browserless plan capacity governs concurrent sessions, while destination sites can impose their own rate limits or block automation. Start with a conservative cap, check current account capacity, and increase only when the workload and target sites permit it. Avoid launching an unbounded task for every URL in a large list.

Bulk capture with a remote Playwright connection
Use Playwright when each page needs browser-level handling before the image is taken. Browserless documents a chromium/playwright WebSocket endpoint and a chromium.connect example. The connection guide notes that the default endpoint speaks CDP; use the Playwright endpoint and compatible connection method rather than assuming every endpoint accepts Playwright’s protocol.
The following illustrates the batch shape. Set the endpoint to the Playwright WebSocket endpoint and credentials for your account, and verify the current Browserless connection URL and authentication format in its connection documentation. Install Playwright for Node.js in your project before running it.

}This serial example prioritizes isolation and simplicity. For higher throughput, add a bounded worker pool, but account for each parallel Playwright worker opening its own session and consuming plan concurrency. Close pages and the remote browser connection when finished so sessions are released.
Choose the right page readiness condition
A fixed delay is easy but can waste time on fast pages and still miss slow content. Prefer a selector or other known ready condition for the content you need. Browserless supports waiting configuration; the exact option depends on whether you use REST or Playwright.
Full-page capture extends beyond the visible viewport. Lazy-loaded sections may not be present until the page is scrolled; Browserless recommends using scrollPage: true with full-page mode when a complete long-page capture is needed. Verify that behavior for the endpoint and options you use.

Options that affect the result
Choose settings based on the image you need rather than enabling every capture feature by default.
- Viewport or full page: viewport captures are limited to the visible region; full-page captures include content beyond it.
- Format: Browserless documents PNG, JPEG, and WebP. PNG is the documented quickstart example; choose an alternative when it suits your storage or delivery workflow.
- Quality: quality applies where the selected format supports it.
- Viewport, device scale, or clip: control the captured dimensions or region.
- Selector capture: capture a specific element when you do not need the entire page.
- Wait configuration: wait for a selector, event, or other appropriate readiness condition when content is dynamic.

Do not equate a response with a valid capture
A request can complete while returning a blank page, CAPTCHA, access-denied screen, or image missing the element you wanted. Browserless identifies these as possible signs that a target is blocking automation. Treat them as capture failures to review, not proof of a successful screenshot or a problem that can always be bypassed.

Make batches observable and recoverable
- Record each input URL, output filename, HTTP status, and error.
- Keep failed URLs separate from successful outputs so you can retry selectively.
- Inspect a sample of images, especially after changing waits, full-page settings, or target sites.
- Use timeouts and bounded concurrency so stalled pages do not indefinitely occupy all workers.
- Do not retry every error blindly: a CAPTCHA or access-denied page may persist, and repeated requests may increase load on the destination.
Capacity is account-specific
REST requests and remote browser sessions use service capacity. Browserless says parallel Playwright test workers each open a session and count against the plan’s concurrency limit. The current available capacity is plan-specific, so check your account documentation or dashboard rather than hard-coding a general limit. The reviewed documentation does not establish a universal batch throughput or success rate.
Troubleshoot common batch problems
