To bulk screenshot URLs with Playwright on a Windows server, keep the URLs in a list, install Playwright and its matching browser binaries under the account that will run the job, then loop through the URLs: navigate, wait for a site-appropriate readiness condition, save a viewport or full-page image, and log failures for retry. The workflow is the same in India; the available documentation does not establish a special India-only Playwright setting.
What the batch workflow does
Playwright’s page API follows a simple sequence: launch a browser, create a page, navigate to a URL, save a screenshot, and close the browser. A batch repeats the page steps for each input URL. The screenshot API can capture the visible viewport, the full page, or a selected element; see the Playwright screenshots guide and Page API.
For a first reliable deployment, process URLs sequentially in one browser. This is easier to operate and keeps resource use predictable. Add concurrency only after measuring the server’s capacity and considering the target sites’ acceptable request rates; no universal URLs-per-minute figure applies.
Install Playwright and browsers on Windows

Run installation as the same Windows identity that will execute the scheduled job, or deliberately configure an accessible shared browser location. The documented default Windows browser cache is
%USERPROFILE%AppDataLocalms-playwright; a scheduled task or service account can have a different profile and therefore a different cache. -
When upgrading Playwright, reinstall the corresponding browser builds. Browser binaries are tied to Playwright releases; the official documentation notes that an update may require rerunning the install CLI command.

The cited documentation does not establish a Windows Server edition compatibility matrix or a universal service-account recipe. Confirm that your chosen server image, Node.js runtime, account permissions, and browser dependencies work together in your own deployment.
Build a sequential screenshot batch
This illustrative Node.js script reads one URL per line from urls.txt, writes numbered PNG files into screenshots, and records failures in failed-urls.txt. It uses a finite navigation timeout and always closes pages and the browser. The example does not prescribe a universal readiness rule: adapt the wait to each site’s behavior.

});Create urls.txt with one complete URL on each line. The sequential numeric names avoid collisions even if different URLs share a path or host. If you prefer filenames derived from URLs, sanitize them and account for duplicate paths; a stable hash is safer than using raw URL text. Keep the input list and failure log with the run so you can identify and retry individual failures.
Choose viewport, full-page, or element screenshots
- Viewport: captures the visible browser area. Use it when the output should resemble a screen view at a defined viewport size.
- Full page: captures the full scrollable document. This can create a very tall image, which may be harder to inspect or process downstream.
- Element: capture a specific component through a locator or selector when the whole page is unnecessary. The Page API documents element screenshot behavior.
Playwright’s screenshot API accepts a file path and can also return image bytes for downstream processing. Check the API documentation for format and scale options supported by the Playwright version you deploy. Decide output dimensions and format based on how the images will be stored, reviewed, or consumed.

Make readiness and retries site-specific
A successful navigation is not proof that every page has finished rendering its useful content. Some sites populate content after initial HTML, load images lazily, or keep network connections open. Choose a condition that reflects the target page rather than adding the same fixed sleep or relying on networkidle for every URL.
- For pages with a known key component, wait for that selector to appear before capture.
- For content that renders after a known action, perform the action and then wait for the resulting state.
- For long pages with lazy-loaded images, validate that the capture includes the expected lower-page content; full-page mode alone does not prove every site’s lazy content is ready.
- Log URL, outcome, status when available, and error text. Retry only failed entries with a bounded retry policy so a persistently unavailable page does not hold the entire batch indefinitely.
The example uses domcontentloaded as a starting point, not as a guarantee of visual completeness. A fixed delay can be useful for a known site-specific delay, but it can also waste time or still finish too early.
Run it reliably as a Windows job
Scheduled execution identity
Configure the scheduled task to use the same account that can read the project and browser cache. A common deployment failure is installing browsers interactively under one profile and running the job under another. If the job cannot find Chromium, check the runtime account’s %USERPROFILE%AppDataLocalms-playwright path and reinstall or configure the browser path intentionally.
Capacity and concurrency
Start with one URL at a time. A browser page consumes memory and CPU, and each additional concurrent page raises demand. Increase concurrency cautiously while monitoring the server and respecting target-site request rates. The cited Playwright documentation does not establish a universal throughput figure.

India-specific rendering
No India-specific Playwright binary or setting is established for this workflow. If the screenshots must show Indian-localized content, set and validate the browser context’s locale and timezone for that use case; do not assume the server’s location alone selects the desired language, time zone, or regional content.
Troubleshoot common batch failures
- Browser executable missing: install the browser binaries for the project’s current Playwright version, and verify the job account can access the browser cache.
- Works interactively but fails as a scheduled task: compare the interactive and scheduled identities, their project permissions, environment, and user profile. Install browsers under the actual runtime identity or configure an accessible path.
- Navigation times out: identify whether the URL is slow, unreachable from the server, or waiting on site behavior that does not complete. Keep a finite timeout, log the URL, and retry selectively rather than repeatedly restarting the whole batch.
- Screenshot is blank or incomplete: wait for a page-specific selector or state and check whether content is client-rendered or lazy-loaded. Do not treat one generic wait condition as correct for every site.
- Files overwrite one another: use a unique index or collision-resistant sanitized/hash filename, and create the output directory before capture.
- Images are unexpectedly huge: switch from full-page to viewport or element capture where appropriate, and verify the required screenshot scale and output format for the deployed Playwright version.
