Eligible creators in India can earn ad revenue from a 24/7 devotional livestream after their channel is accepted into the YouTube Partner Program (YPP), they enable live monetization, and they have the commercial rights to everything in the broadcast. But streaming around the clock does not guarantee YPP approval, ad delivery, or a particular income: viewers must actually watch, and YouTube decides whether each ad opportunity serves an ad.
What you need before a devotional livestream can earn ad revenue
India is among the regions where YPP is available. YouTube’s current ad-revenue eligibility guidance, checked October 3, 2026, requires a channel to meet the subscriber and viewing threshold, comply with monetization policies, and pass a channel review. Meeting the numbers lets you apply; it does not guarantee acceptance. See YouTube’s YPP eligibility overview.
- At least 1,000 subscribers.
- Either 4,000 qualified public long-form watch hours in the preceding 12 months, or 10 million qualified public Shorts views in the preceding 90 days.
- No active Community Guidelines strikes, 2-Step Verification turned on, advanced features access, and an AdSense for YouTube account linked to the channel.
- Compliance with YouTube’s channel monetization policies and successful review by YouTube.
For a channel built around livestreams, the 4,000-hour route may be the relevant one. However, a stream being live for 24 hours does not itself create 24 qualifying watch hours: people have to watch. YouTube also excludes livestream watch time if the stream is unlisted, deleted, or not converted to video on demand (VOD). Keep qualifying streams public and available as VOD, and check their status and watch time in YouTube Studio.
How to turn on live ads and choose mid-rolls
Once your channel is in YPP, enable monetization for the livestream in YouTube Studio. YouTube’s live-stream monetization guidance says pre-roll and display ads are automatically enabled when live monetization is on. Mid-roll ads can be automatic or manually placed.

Choose automatic or manual mid-roll placement
- Automatic: YouTube places mid-roll opportunities. This reduces the need to schedule individual breaks, but it does not ensure an ad will appear at every opportunity.
- Manual: You can place breaks yourself. The referenced YouTube Help guidance lists scheduled intervals of 6, 12, 18, 24, or 30 minutes. These are settings, not a recommended universal cadence or an earnings promise.
For devotional programming, consider the effect of interruptions on prayer, recitation, or aarti before choosing a mid-roll approach. YouTube controls whether an ad opportunity receives an ad; as its Help page puts it, “Ad slots are not guaranteed to serve ads.” An external site embedding the livestream with autoplay turns ads off, so do not assume embedded playback will monetize like the YouTube watch page.
Make the stream original enough for channel review
YouTube applies its monetization policies to livestreams as well as videos. A devotional subject is not automatically ineligible, and YouTube does not say that every continuous stream is disallowed. The risk is a channel built from repetitive, mass-produced, or minimally changed material without meaningful original contribution. YouTube’s policy page calls this “inauthentic content”; its July 15, 2025 clarification renamed “repetitious content” without newly banning repetition. Reviewers may consider the channel’s theme, newest and most-viewed videos, share of watch time, metadata, and About section. Read YouTube’s channel monetization policies.

Build the channel around work that is genuinely yours: for example, original devotional performances, creator-led commentary, or distinct programming rather than an unchanged loop presented repeatedly. These choices can help demonstrate original contribution, but they do not guarantee monetization approval.

You need the rights necessary for both the live broadcast and its archived version. YouTube scans livestreams for third-party material, including other broadcasts. If it detects a match, it may replace the stream with a placeholder and warn you; if the material remains, it may interrupt or terminate the stream. An archive can also receive a Content ID claim after the broadcast. YouTube says licensed material may still require the rights owner to add your channel to its Content ID allowlist. “Devotional,” “traditional,” or old does not automatically mean a particular recording is free to use. A composition, arrangement, performance, recording, and accompanying visuals can involve separate rights. YouTube’s monetization guidance requires original content or content cleared for commercial use. The practical low-risk choice is to use your own material or get documented permission that covers commercial livestreaming and archiving, and confirm whether the owner must allowlist your channel. YouTube’s monetization guidance for music and other content explains the platform’s commercial-use requirement; it is not a complete guide to Indian copyright law.
Other ways eligible channels may earn
Depending on channel status, location, and feature-specific requirements, YouTube also lists YouTube Premium revenue, channel memberships, Super Chat, and Super Stickers. A continuous stream does not make these features automatically available. Treat them as possible additional routes rather than substitutes for meeting ad-revenue eligibility. Why a 24/7 stream may earn little or nothing
- Eligibility is not approval: reaching the threshold still leaves a channel review, including its content and policy compliance.
- Availability is not viewership: being live continuously does not mean people watched, or that the stream met qualified-watch-time conditions.
- Ad opportunities are not ad delivery: YouTube does not guarantee that an ad slot will fill.
- Rights or originality problems can disrupt monetization: a claim, interruption, or policy review may affect a broadcast or the channel.
YouTube’s official guidance does not establish a typical RPM, earnings estimate, or devotional-stream income figure. Do not use a generic estimate as a promise; use your own YouTube Analytics after monetization to assess actual results.
