To capture a webpage automatically, create a Zap with a schedule or event trigger, add ScreenshotOne’s Take Website Screenshot action, provide the page URL, test the output, and connect a destination for the result. For motion or a scrolling capture, choose ScreenshotOne’s separate Render Animated or Scrolling Website Screenshot action instead.
Choose the trigger and screenshot action
The core workflow is trigger → ScreenshotOne capture → destination. A schedule trigger suits recurring snapshots; an upstream app or webhook suits captures prompted by an event that supplies a page URL. Zapier’s ScreenshotOne listing includes examples for daily, hourly, and weekly schedules, as well as an event-driven webhook example. The appropriate frequency depends on what you are monitoring and on your account limits.
Choose the action based on the output you need:
- Take Website Screenshot: for a still screenshot.
- Render Animated or Scrolling Website Screenshot: when the intended result involves motion or scrolling through the page.
Zapier lists both actions and their inputs on its ScreenshotOne integration page. The exact fields displayed in the editor may change.
Set up a scheduled or event-driven Zap
- In Zapier, create a Zap and select the trigger that should start the capture. For recurring captures, choose a schedule trigger and its frequency. For event-driven captures, choose an upstream app or webhook that can provide the page URL.
- Add ScreenshotOne as the action app. Select Take Website Screenshot for a still image or the animated/scrolling action for a scrolling or motion result.
- Connect your ScreenshotOne account in the Zap editor. Follow the connection flow shown there; the integration listing confirms the available actions but does not document every current account-connection screen.
- Enter a fixed URL or map the URL supplied by the trigger. The website URL is required.
- Choose the output format and response type, then set only the capture options the task needs. For example, configure full-page capture for a long page, a selector to target a particular element, or a viewport/device setting when the framing matters.
- Test the action with a page you own or are authorized to capture. Inspect the result and confirm it can be used by your intended destination action.
- Add the destination app or action that should receive the result, map the returned value it needs, and publish the Zap.
Zapier’s listing describes the trigger-to-capture-to-destination pattern and illustrates an Airtable record as one possible downstream step. The destination should be able to accept the kind of result the action returns; verify this in the test before relying on a recurring workflow.

Configure capture options for the page
The Zapier listing exposes a range of optional settings for the still-image action. Use them to solve a specific capture need rather than enabling every option by default.

The animated or scrolling action has its own listed settings: format, response type, video duration, scroll delay, scenario, viewport dimensions, selector hiding, banner/ad/tracker/chat blocking, delay, timeout, wait-until behavior, and proxy. Its fields are not identical to the still-image action, so select the action first and configure the options shown for that action.
For a basic scheduled snapshot, start with the required URL and the necessary output settings. Add full-page, selector, timing, device, or blocking choices only when the result shows they are needed. The listing establishes that these options are offered; it does not establish performance differences between configurations.

Use the API Request route only when the app action lacks a needed option
If the built-in ScreenshotOne action does not expose a parameter your workflow needs, Zapier’s API Request action is a more technical alternative. Zapier labels that action beta and says it requires knowledge of HTTP requests, APIs, and API documentation. Do not guess at parameter names or encoding: follow ScreenshotOne’s current API getting-started documentation and options documentation.
ScreenshotOne documents HTTPS requests to https://api.screenshotone.com/take, using GET with options in the query string or POST with a JSON body. Each request requires an access_key; signing is optional and uses a signature derived from screenshot parameters and a signing key. Keep both keys private, and use HTTPS: ScreenshotOne warns that HTTP does not encrypt credentials or other sensitive request data. The documented maximum POST body size is 100 MiB.

For authenticated pages, ScreenshotOne documents custom authentication headers or cookies. Use these only for pages you own or are authorized to access; whether capture succeeds still depends on the target site’s controls. These options do not authorize access to someone else’s restricted content.
Plan frequency, reliability, and cost
A scheduled Zap can generate repeated captures, so estimate expected usage from the frequency and number of pages you configure. Test the complete workflow, not only the capture step: confirm that the page is accessible, the returned result has the format your next action expects, and the destination accepts it. For event-driven Zaps, ensure the trigger actually provides a usable URL. For scheduled monitoring, choose a cadence appropriate to the change rate you care about and your available account limits.

- The action has no URL or fails before capture: the website URL is required. Enter a fixed URL or map a URL value from the trigger, then inspect the trigger test data to ensure that value is present.
- The page is captured before it is ready: adjust the listed delay, timeout, or wait-until setting where available. Retest against the target page; do not assume one timing choice works for every site.
- The image omits content below the fold: enable full-page capture for a still image, or choose the animated/scrolling action if you need a scroll-based result.
- The result includes unwanted banners, ads, trackers, or chat: use the blocking controls or selector-hiding options exposed for the selected action, then inspect a fresh test result.
- The downstream app cannot use the returned value: check the response type and output format, then test the destination mapping. The suitable mapping depends on what that destination accepts.
- An authenticated page is inaccessible: confirm that you are authorized to capture it and that the configured header or cookies match the site’s authentication requirements. Those settings cannot guarantee access if the site blocks the request.
- You cannot find a needed parameter in the built-in action: consider Zapier’s beta API Request action only if you can work with HTTP and ScreenshotOne’s API documentation. Use the documented endpoint and request format rather than inventing fields.
