You can run several 24/7 Indian music feeds from one server by operating a separate, supervised encoder process for each independent program and sending each feed to its own YouTube live destination. Before building it, check YouTube’s simultaneous-stream limits, verify that the server and internet connection can handle the combined workload, and clear the rights for every recording and territory. A server can keep encoders running; it cannot guarantee uninterrupted broadcasts, complete archives, or monetization.
Plan the feeds and their YouTube destinations
First decide how many distinct programs you want to run—for example, a bhajan playlist, a Gurbani feed, and a Hindi devotional music program—and whether each needs its own live event, metadata, visual identity, or archive. Each independent program needs a deliberate mapping between its encoder output and YouTube’s live resources.
YouTube’s API distinguishes a liveStream, which represents the incoming feed and its settings, from a liveBroadcast, which represents the viewer-facing event. You can create separate stream resources for separate broadcasts, or use the API’s supported arrangement in which one continuous incoming stream is associated with multiple broadcasts. The latter is an option, not a requirement: choose the arrangement that suits your event and operational workflow. (YouTube Live Streaming API documentation, as described in the API guidance.)
Check YouTube’s active-stream limits first
YouTube Help’s current guidance, accessed in 2026, sets a maximum of 10 active streams per channel and 3 active streams per stream key. Both limits apply at the same time. Count the feeds against the channel limit and the key limit before you decide how to distribute them. A design that appears to fit one limit can still exceed the other.

Do not plan to get around a live-streaming restriction by switching to another channel. YouTube says an account restricted from live streaming cannot use another channel to bypass that restriction.
Choose an architecture that matches the programs
| Approach | What it means | What to weigh |
|---|---|---|
| Separate encoder feeds | Run an encoder process for each program, with its own source playlist and YouTube destination/key. | Each feed can fail and be restarted independently. The server must handle the combined encoding work and outbound bitrate. |
| One continuous incoming stream associated with multiple broadcasts | Use YouTube’s API-supported arrangement to associate one continuous incoming stream with multiple viewer-facing broadcasts. | It may suit a workflow that reuses one incoming feed, but it is not interchangeable with separate, independently produced programs. Check the intended broadcast behavior and active limits. |
For genuinely different music channels or programs, separate encoder processes are usually easier to reason about: each can have its own playlist, audio treatment, graphics, metadata, destination, logs, and restart behavior. That does not mean one process always needs one CPU core. Resource use varies with whether you re-encode or copy compatible media, resolution, frame rate, audio processing, and local recording.
Build and test the one-server setup
- Prepare each program. Organize the files and playlist for each feed. Confirm that the content is permitted for live use and for the territories you intend to reach. Decide whether each feed needs a distinct visual identity and viewer-facing broadcast.
- Create the YouTube live resources. In YouTube Studio, set up the required live destinations and obtain the relevant stream keys. Map each encoder’s output to the intended destination. Keep the mapping documented so a restart does not send the wrong program to the wrong broadcast.
- Configure an encoder per independent feed. Use YouTube’s published encoder settings as a starting point: H.264 video, AAC or MP3 audio, constant bitrate (CBR), and up to 60 fps. YouTube recommends a two-second keyframe interval and says it should not exceed four seconds. Its audio bitrate and sample-rate recommendations depend on whether you use stereo or surround sound.
- Select a bitrate and resolution you can sustain. There is no universal bitrate or server size for every number of Indian music feeds. Choose settings appropriate to the media and tested upload capacity, then measure the whole server under the intended concurrent load. Add network headroom for the aggregate outbound bitrate rather than sizing from just one encoder’s output.
- Use secure ingestion and protect credentials. YouTube recommends RTMPS, a secure extension of RTMP. Treat stream keys as secrets: store them in a protected configuration or secrets mechanism, restrict access, and do not publish them in logs, scripts, screenshots, or support requests.
- Run each encoder under supervision. Use a process supervisor or equivalent service manager to restart a crashed encoder, retain restart and error logs, and alert an operator if a process stops or its output is lost. A restart policy is an operational safeguard, not a guarantee that a feed will recover correctly without intervention.
- Test the complete path before leaving it unattended. Send a realistic test with audio and movement, confirm that the correct feed reaches the intended broadcast, and watch YouTube’s stream-health messages. YouTube advises testing with a suitable bitrate for the connection and monitoring stream health.
YouTube automatically transcodes streams for viewer playback, so creators generally send one suitable source representation rather than encoding separate renditions for every viewer device. Validate your actual encoder build and workflow; published settings are a starting point, not proof that every configuration works identically.
Estimate server and network capacity without guessing
There is no official universal CPU, RAM, disk, or network specification for a particular count of simultaneous Indian music streams. The right capacity depends on your exact workload.

- Encoding method: Re-encoding consumes different resources from copying compatible media without re-encoding.
- Output settings: Resolution, frame rate, codec settings, and audio processing affect load.
- Concurrency: Benchmark all planned feeds running at once, not one feed at a time.
- Recording: Local archives add storage and possibly additional processing demands. Estimate retention from the actual file output and how long you intend to keep it.
- Network: Add the outbound bitrates of the simultaneous feeds and leave headroom. Test the connection during realistic concurrent output rather than relying on a nominal speed figure alone.
Record CPU, memory, disk, and network behavior during the test, including what happens when a process restarts. If you change resolution, frame rate, encoding method, recording plan, or feed count, benchmark again; the previous result may no longer represent the workload.
Plan for 24/7 recovery and archives
A continuous broadcast and a complete recording archive are different goals. YouTube Help says it can automatically archive live streams shorter than 12 hours; a stream longer than 12 hours may not be captured at all. YouTube recommends keeping a local archive as a backup.
If an uninterrupted radio-style feed matters most, a single long-running broadcast is operationally simple, but do not assume YouTube will preserve its entire VOD. If complete segment-sized archives matter, consider dividing programming into shorter broadcasts. That can make archive retention more predictable, but introduces transitions and additional scheduling and monitoring work.
For unattended operation, test both ordinary encoder restarts and loss of output before relying on the setup. Keep logs that show when a process stopped and restarted, alert a person who can respond, and verify the broadcast after recovery. YouTube’s own interruption or stream-health behavior is separate from the server process supervisor.

Clear music rights before going live
Having audio files or a license does not by itself ensure that YouTube will let a live stream continue. YouTube scans live streams for matches to third-party content, including another live broadcast. A match can replace the stream with a placeholder, trigger a stop-stream warning, or lead to a temporary interruption or termination if the content remains.
If you have a license for music that is matched, YouTube says to ask the rights owner to add your channel to its Content ID allowlist. A license alone does not ensure uninterrupted live delivery. Confirm that your rights cover the recordings, the intended territories, live streaming, and any other uses in your plan.
“You represent and warrant that you have all necessary rights for the exploitation of the Live Content on the Google Services throughout the world, including, without limitation, music licensing rights from artists, record labels, publishers (including public performance licenses) and any other royalty participants.”
This is language in YouTube/Google’s live-stream terms. Check the agreement that actually governs your channel and territories rather than treating a general description of licensing as legal advice.

Understand monetization separately from copyright
YouTube’s channel-wide monetization policy applies to live streams. It treats “inauthentic content”—including repetitive or mass-produced output—and reused content as separate concerns. A compilation of songs may be ineligible under reused-content review even when the creator has permission to use the music. Rights clearance is essential for streaming, but does not guarantee acceptance into the YouTube Partner Program.
Build a program with original curation, meaningful creative contribution, and distinct value for viewers rather than assuming that looping music continuously is sufficient. Review the current YouTube Partner Program policies for your channel before making monetization plans.
Troubleshoot common multi-stream failures
| Symptom | Likely cause | What to check or do |
|---|---|---|
| A feed will not start or another feed is rejected | The channel’s active-stream or stream-key limit has been reached, or the destination/key mapping is wrong. | Count active feeds against both YouTube limits, check the selected broadcast and key, and verify that the key belongs to the intended destination. |
| Video stutters or YouTube reports poor stream health | The chosen output bitrate may exceed stable upload capacity, or concurrent feeds are competing for network resources. | Review YouTube stream-health messages, test aggregate outbound traffic, reduce settings if needed, and test again with all feeds active. |
| An encoder exits and the feed stays down | The process failed and has no effective supervisor or alert path. | Inspect the encoder’s error and restart logs, confirm the supervisor is monitoring that process, and verify the output after a restart. |
| A live feed is interrupted after a music match | YouTube detected third-party content, and the owner may not have allowlisted the channel. | Review the live-stream warning, contact the rights owner about the channel’s Content ID allowlisting, and do not restart with the same disputed material until the rights issue is resolved. |
| A long stream has no complete archive | The broadcast exceeded 12 hours; streams beyond that duration may not be captured. | Use a separate local recording or plan shorter broadcasts if retaining a complete archive is important. |
| Audio/video settings are rejected or behave unexpectedly | The output may not match the published encoder guidance, or a specific encoder configuration may not work as expected. | Check H.264 video, AAC or MP3 audio, CBR, the keyframe interval, and the actual output settings; run a realistic test and monitor stream health. |
