Sign in to the website in your browser, open the page you’re allowed to capture, then press Windows logo key + Shift + S. Choose a snipping mode and select the visible part of the page. This captures what is on your screen; it does not bypass a login or other site restrictions.
Capture the signed-in page with Snipping Tool
- Sign in normally. Open the website and navigate to the page or content you are permitted to capture.
- Open the capture overlay. Press Windows logo key + Shift + S. Microsoft documents this shortcut for Windows 10 and Windows 11; it opens the Snipping Tool capture overlay. Microsoft’s Snipping Tool instructions
- Choose a mode and select what to capture. Available modes include freeform, rectangular, window, and full screen. For a webpage, rectangular or window capture can help exclude browser tabs, account details, or other screen content you do not want in the image.
- Review and save the snip. The captured image opens in Snipping Tool, where you can edit it, copy it, or save it. Check the image before sharing it.
Choose only the content you need
A selected-area snip is usually the clearest option when the browser also displays personal information or unrelated tabs. Crop or redact sensitive details before sharing. Snipping Tool can recognize text and offers quick redaction for recognized email addresses and phone numbers; Microsoft says text recognition happens locally on the device. Do not assume this automatically detects or removes every sensitive detail.
Save a full-screen screenshot with a keyboard shortcut
If you want an image of the entire screen rather than a selected region, Microsoft documents Windows logo key + PrtScn on supported hardware. The screenshot is saved in Pictures > Screenshots. On a device without a PrtScn button, Microsoft documents Fn + Windows logo key + Space Bar as an alternative. See Microsoft’s print-screen shortcut guidance.

If the shortcut does not work
- The overlay does not open: Open Start, search for Snipping Tool, and use its capture controls to choose freeform, rectangle, window, or full-screen capture.
- You cannot find the saved full-screen image: For the Windows + PrtScn shortcut, check Pictures > Screenshots. The Snipping Tool workflow instead opens the snip in its editing interface, where you can save it.
- The screenshot includes information you did not mean to share: Capture a smaller region or crop and redact the image before sending it. Review the final image yourself rather than relying on automatic text recognition.
- The page or media appears blocked: Windows capture instructions do not establish how every website, browser, or application handles protected content. A site or app may impose its own restrictions; follow those rules rather than trying to circumvent them.
What a screenshot can—and cannot—capture
These methods capture content rendered on the screen after you have signed in. They do not grant access to a private page, defeat a site’s controls, or establish that every page or media type can be captured. Microsoft’s guidance covers Windows screen-capture actions, not the behavior of every banking site, corporate app, or DRM-protected video service.
