To finish a touch you started manually, keep the TouchHandle returned by page.touchscreen.touchStart(x, y) and call await touch.end(). For a simple tap, use await page.touchscreen.tap(x, y), which dispatches both touchstart and touchend.
End a manually controlled touch with its handle
Call touchStart() to begin the gesture, optionally move that touch, and call end() on the returned handle when it is finished:

await touch.end();TouchHandle.end() dispatches a touchend event for the touch represented by that handle. The coordinates are viewport coordinates.
Choose the right Puppeteer method

Use a coordinate tap when there is no need to hold the gesture open
await page.touchscreen.tap(100, 200);This is the shortest option for a tap at a known point; you do not need to call touchStart() and end the gesture separately.

Use an element tap when the target is a DOM element
await elementHandle.tap();This taps the element’s center after scrolling it into view if needed. It throws if the element has detached from the DOM, so ensure the handle still refers to a live element when you call it.
Use touchscreen.touchEnd() only when its targeting matches your need
This page-level method ends the first active touch. It is not documented as ending an arbitrary touch or necessarily the most recently started one. If you retained the handle for the touch you intend to finish, prefer touch.end().

Understand touch movement and event behavior
A call to touch.move() or page.touchscreen.touchMove() may not produce a browser touchmove event every time. Browser optimizations and Chrome throttling can affect delivery, so do not assume each movement call corresponds to one observed event. The end operation is still explicit: call touch.end() for the handle or use the documented page-level touchEnd() behavior.
Version and interaction notes
Puppeteer’s interaction guide describes page.touchscreen as a way to emit touch events without first selecting an element, and recommends locators for selecting and interacting with elements. The official documentation pages consulted show version labels 25.2.1 for Touchscreen.tap(), 25.3.0 for TouchHandle and Touchscreen.touchStart(), 25.5.0 for the Touchscreen class, and 25.12.0 for the page interactions guide. These are documentation page labels, not a guarantee that every installed Puppeteer version behaves identically; check the API reference for your project’s version. The documented descriptions do not establish all behavior for overlapping touches, so avoid assuming ordering or concurrency semantics.

Troubleshoot a gesture that does not finish as expected
- The gesture remains active: Check that the awaited
touch.end()call runs after the intended movement and is not skipped by a conditional path. - You used
touchscreen.touchEnd()but another touch ended: The API targets the first active touch. Retain and end the intended touch’s handle instead. - A movement call did not create a visible
touchmoveevent: Event delivery may be optimized or throttled. Do not treat every method call as a guaranteed separate browser event. elementHandle.tap()throws: The element may have detached from the DOM. Locate it again and tap the current handle.- A method is missing or its behavior differs: Confirm the installed Puppeteer version and consult that version’s API reference; the documentation labels above span several versions.
