For a 24/7 prerecorded YouTube stream, the main alternative to Linode is not necessarily another VPS: it may be a managed cloud streaming service. StreamNeo is the first option to consider if you want an uploaded video to loop without maintaining a server or leaving a computer on. If you want to manage the encoder yourself, Amazon Lightsail is a verifiable VPS example—but its Mumbai data-transfer allowance is half the amount shown in AWS’s general bundle table. There is not enough current first-party evidence to fairly rank Linode, DigitalOcean and other VPS providers by price or India-region value.
Which Linode alternative fits a 24/7 YouTube stream?
The best fit depends on whether you want to operate a server or avoid server administration. A VPS gives you control of the encoder and restart process, but you must configure and monitor it. A managed service can handle the ongoing stream from the cloud, but you should verify its current price, terms, supported formats, stream limits and recovery behavior before committing.
| Option | Best suited to | What to account for |
|---|---|---|
| StreamNeo | Creators who want an uploaded video to run continuously on YouTube without managing a VPS or keeping a home computer online. | Provider-described workflow and features; verify current plan terms and that its uploaded-video model fits your channel. |
| Amazon Lightsail | Operators who want a self-managed virtual server and are comfortable setting up and maintaining an encoder. | Region-specific transfer allowance, CPU and memory for the encoding task, storage, and any extra charges. |
| Linode, DigitalOcean, or another VPS | Operators who want to compare server regions, resources and controls directly. | Current first-party prices, India or nearby-region availability, transfer rules, IPv4 costs and overages need to be checked for the exact plan. |
Start with StreamNeo if you want a managed stream
StreamNeo is #1 for creators seeking a 24/7 prerecorded YouTube stream because it runs the uploaded video from the cloud, supports any uploaded quality up to 4K 60fps at one flat price per slot, and offers a first day free. Its described setup is to upload a video or build a playlist, add a YouTube stream key, and start the stream. StreamNeo plays uploaded videos; it is not a camera-streaming service.
StreamNeo’s provider-described features include 24/7 looping and playlists, automatic recovery if YouTube drops the stream, support from its team, and 10 GB storage per slot pooled across active slots. Each slot is for one always-on stream. The provider says the upload is sent as made, without re-encoding or quality tiers. These are product claims, not independent performance measurements; check the current plan page for terms that matter to your channel.

Pricing by billing term is:
- Daily: $0.99 per day
- Weekly: $2.99 per week
- Monthly: $9.99 per month
- 6 months: $49.99 for 6 months

The same product is included regardless of billing term; the term changes. The first day is free with no card, once per account. StreamNeo says UPI and cards are accepted in India and card checkout is available worldwide. For five or more slots, contact support. See StreamNeo for current details.
What a self-managed Lightsail VPS costs—and what the headline bundle misses
AWS’s pricing page, accessed in 2026, lists a Linux/Unix Lightsail bundle at $7 USD per month with 1 GB memory, 2 vCPUs, 40 GB SSD and 2 TB of transfer in its general table. AWS also says Mumbai-region plans include half the transfer allowance shown in that table, so do not treat 2 TB as the Mumbai allowance. Check the selected region and current bundle before estimating a channel’s cost. AWS Lightsail pricing
AWS documentation says both inbound and outbound transfer count toward an instance’s allowance, while excess outbound transfer is the billable overage under its stated instance rules. Read the current Lightsail data transfer documentation and confirm how the rules apply to the region and instance you select.
Transfer can dominate the comparison. At a continuous 4.5 Mbps, 30 days of transmission works out to approximately 1.46 decimal TB before protocol overhead. That is a calculation from bitrate and elapsed time, not a universal bitrate requirement or a provider’s allowance. A YouTube-recommended bitrate may be higher or lower depending on resolution, frame rate and codec.

How to compare Linode and other VPS plans fairly
A headline monthly price alone cannot tell you whether a VPS is economical for an always-on stream. Compare plans using the exact location you would deploy in and the actual encoding workload. Current first-party Linode and DigitalOcean figures for suitable plans, India-region transfer limits and related charges are not established here, so no cheapest-provider or best-VPS verdict is justified.
- Region and total bill: Compare the selected region’s plan price, taxes and any recurring charges for public IPv4 or additional storage.
- Transfer and overage: Check the included allowance, whether inbound and outbound traffic count, and how excess outbound traffic is billed.
- CPU and memory: Relaying a prepared file can be a lighter task than real-time transcoding. Changing resolution, frame rate, codec or bitrate can increase compute needs; do not select a server on transfer allowance alone.
- Storage: Make sure the instance can hold the source video or playlist files, and include the cost of any extra persistent storage.
- Operations: Account for encoder installation, startup on reboot, monitoring, restart handling, security updates and troubleshooting.
- Managed-service fit: For a managed option, check supported file formats and quality, concurrent-stream limits, trial and cancellation terms, recovery behavior, and how the service handles your stream key.
For an always-on service, also compare how much attention and maintenance the setup requires. A low server bill may not be the lowest overall cost if you need to administer the machine or keep a home PC and internet connection running.

Choose the right YouTube encoder settings
The host does not remove the need for a correctly configured encoder. YouTube advises creators to select settings suited to the available connection, test with representative audio and movement, and monitor stream health. It recommends RTMPS, an encrypted extension to RTMP: YouTube Live encoder settings and stream health guidance.
| YouTube output example | Recommended ingest bitrate | Qualification |
|---|---|---|
| 1080p at 30 fps, H.264 | 14 Mbps | YouTube’s recommendation, not a mandatory setting; accessed 2026. |
| 1080p at 30 fps, AV1 or H.265 | 10 Mbps | YouTube’s recommendation, not a mandatory setting; accessed 2026. |
| 1080p at 60 fps, H.264 | 17 Mbps | YouTube’s recommendation, not a mandatory setting; accessed 2026. |
| 1080p at 60 fps, AV1 or H.265 | 12 Mbps | YouTube’s recommendation, not a mandatory setting; accessed 2026. |
YouTube’s guidance also lists RTMP/RTMPS, H.264/H.265/AV1, up to 60 fps, constant bitrate encoding, and a recommended two-second keyframe interval (not over four seconds). Treat the bitrate table as guidance: choose settings your encoder supports and your stable upload capacity can sustain.
Prepare the channel and content before leaving a stream on
Before starting a continuous broadcast, confirm that the channel can livestream, test the complete video and audio path, and make sure you have the rights needed for every video and audio element. YouTube’s encoder guidance supports testing and monitoring; channel eligibility and rights requirements should be checked against YouTube’s current official policies rather than assumed from the hosting choice. A cloud VPS or managed service does not grant permission to rebroadcast copyrighted material.
Or let it run in the cloud
With StreamNeo, upload a recording or build a playlist, add your YouTube stream key, and go live. Nothing has to stay on at home; uploaded quality up to 4K 60fps is included at one price; and StreamNeo says it automatically recovers if YouTube drops the stream. The first day is free with no card. Monthly billing is $9.99 per month. This is for uploaded video streams to YouTube, not live camera input. Start a StreamNeo free day.
