Yes. A channel’s connection to Google Workspace neither grants nor removes its general eligibility to live stream on YouTube. YouTube’s channel rules still apply: the channel must be verified, have no live-streaming restriction in the preceding 90 days, and be operated by a creator who is at least 16. If you want to stream a Google Meet meeting to YouTube, that is a separate feature with additional subscription, administrator, channel-access, and device requirements.
First identify which kind of YouTube stream you mean
Streaming directly through YouTube and streaming a Google Meet meeting to YouTube are different routes. A Workspace administrator is not identified as a gate for an ordinary YouTube live stream; the administrator setting described by Google applies to the Meet integration for relevant managed accounts.
| Check | Ordinary YouTube live stream | Google Meet stream to YouTube |
|---|---|---|
| Channel eligibility | Verified; no live-stream restriction in the preceding 90 days; creator must be at least 16. (YouTube Help) | The YouTube channel must meet YouTube’s live-stream eligibility rules and be approved for live streaming. (Google Meet Help) |
| Workspace plan | No Workspace plan requirement is stated in YouTube’s baseline eligibility rules. (YouTube Help) | Google lists supported Workspace editions and subscriptions; availability depends on the account. (Google Meet Help) |
| Administrator setting | No Workspace administrator gate is stated for ordinary YouTube streaming. | For applicable managed users, an administrator must enable the feature. (Google Meet Help) |
| Channel access | Use the eligible YouTube channel through the chosen YouTube streaming method. | The channel must be connected to the meeting, and the person starting the stream must be allowed to use it. Join on a computer using the email associated with the desired YouTube channel. (Google Meet Help) |
| Device and method | Choose mobile, webcam, encoder, or console; requirements vary by method. | Start the Meet stream from a computer. (Google Meet Help) |
Check YouTube eligibility before changing Workspace settings
- Open YouTube Studio on a computer. Go to Settings → Channel → Feature eligibility. YouTube uses this area to show which channel features are enabled. (YouTube Help: feature access)
- Confirm the channel is verified and live streaming is enabled. YouTube requires verification and no live-streaming restrictions in the previous 90 days. The creator must be at least 16. (YouTube Help)
- If you just enabled live streaming, wait for activation. Initial enablement can take up to 24 hours; a newly enabled channel may not be ready immediately. (YouTube Help)
- Select the streaming method. Webcam streaming is started on a computer after live streaming is enabled. Mobile streaming has extra requirements, including at least 50 subscribers, as well as device and account requirements. Check YouTube’s current guidance for the method you plan to use. (YouTube Help; YouTube Help: webcam streaming)
For Google Meet, check the separate integration requirements
Meet’s ability to stream a meeting does not follow automatically from a channel being linked to a Google account. Google’s supported options include Enterprise Starter, Enterprise Standard, Enterprise Plus, Education Plus, Teaching and Learning Upgrade, Workspace Individual, and Google One subscribers with 2 TB or more. Check Google’s current Meet requirements because eligible subscriptions and availability can change. (Google Meet Help)
- The YouTube channel must already be approved for live streaming and connected to the Meet event.
- The person starting the stream must have permission to use that channel.
- Join Meet from a computer and use the email associated with the intended YouTube channel.
- For managed Workspace users without Workspace Individual or Google One AI membership, Google says the company administrator must turn on the feature.
These gates are specific to Meet-to-YouTube streaming. An eligible YouTube channel can still lack the Meet option because the organization’s edition is unsupported, the administrator has not enabled it, or the user cannot access the connected channel.

Understand restrictions and account access
YouTube may disable live streaming for Community Guidelines or copyright reasons, temporarily or permanently. A live-stream restriction cannot be bypassed by switching to another channel; YouTube identifies that as prohibited circumvention. (YouTube Help: live-stream restrictions)
For some Workspace Education users, administrator control over Brand Account access can affect access to the Brand Account identity. That access issue is distinct from YouTube’s decision about whether the channel is eligible to stream. (Google Workspace Admin Help)

Troubleshoot when the option is missing
- YouTube Studio shows live streaming is unavailable: Check channel verification and any live-stream restrictions in the preceding 90 days in Settings → Channel → Feature eligibility. Resolve the stated eligibility issue rather than trying a different channel to evade a restriction.
- You enabled live streaming moments ago: Allow up to 24 hours for first-time activation before treating the delay as a separate fault. (YouTube Help)
- You can stream on YouTube but cannot select a channel in Meet: Confirm the Meet subscription is supported, the channel is approved and connected, and your account has permission to use it. Join Meet on a computer using the matching email. For a managed account, ask the administrator to check whether Meet live streaming is enabled. (Google Meet Help)
- Mobile streaming is unavailable: Mobile has extra eligibility requirements, including at least 50 subscribers; this is separate from the baseline rules for other streaming methods. Check YouTube’s current mobile-specific guidance. (YouTube Help)
- The channel has a policy restriction: Review YouTube’s notice and applicable policy information. Do not attempt to continue the restricted stream through another channel. (YouTube Help)
Or let it run in the cloud
If your goal is to keep pre-recorded video playing on a YouTube channel around the clock, StreamNeo is a separate option from a Workspace or Meet eligibility fix: upload a recording or build a playlist, add your YouTube stream key once, and go live. The cloud keeps the stream running without a computer, OBS, or home connection staying on. It streams uploaded video to YouTube, not a live camera feed.

- Each slot includes one always-on stream, 10 GB storage per slot pooled across active slots, looping and playlists, and automatic recovery if YouTube drops the stream.

- Monthly: $9.99 per month. UPI and cards are available in India; card checkout is available worldwide.
