1Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errors2Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitches3Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsA phone number can be associated with two YouTube channels per year, according to a TeamYouTube Google employee. YouTube has not specified whether “per year” means a calendar year or a rolling 12-month period, so there is no confirmed reset date. This limit applies to phone verification; it is separate from the other requirements for going live.
What the two-channel limit means
In a YouTube Help Community post published October 29, 2025, TeamYouTube Google employee Rob wrote: “To help prevent abuse, a phone number can only be associated with 2 channels per year.” Read the TeamYouTube guidance.
The post does not define how YouTube counts the year. It does not say whether the period is a calendar year or rolling, or whether deleting a channel or removing a phone number restores a verification slot. Do not rely on either action to reset the limit.
This is phone verification for channel features, not the public identity checkmark or badge. It is also only one part of live-stream eligibility.

Why you still might not be able to go live
Requirements for live streaming in general
YouTube’s Get started with live streaming page says a channel must be verified and must not have had live-streaming restrictions in the previous 90 days. YouTube lists mobile, webcam, encoder, and console as available streaming methods. It also says you must be at least 16 years old to live stream.
Extra requirements for mobile live streaming
For mobile live streaming, YouTube additionally requires at least 50 subscribers, live streaming turned on, and a compatible device: Android 8.0 or later or iOS 8 or later. YouTube says first activation can take up to 24 hours. Check the current Create a live stream on mobile requirements, since platform rules and interface labels can change.

- STAY CONNECTED WORLDWIDE: Unlimited calling from the U.S. to 90+ international destinations including India, Mexico, Canada, China, the U.K. and more.
- RELIABLE NATIONWIDE COVERAGE: Enjoy 8GB of high-speed 5G/4G LTE data on the T-Mobile 5G Network.
- TRAVEL ACROSS NORTH AMERICA: Unlimited talk and text in Mexico and Canada plus international roaming credit.
- BRING YOUR OWN PHONE: Activate your compatible unlocked phone with the included 3-in-1 SIM card or eSIM. Keep your number or get a new one.
- NO CONTRACTS: Prepaid wireless with no annual contracts, no credit checks, and no hidden fees.
YouTube may limit the audience for mobile live streams from channels with more than 50 but fewer than 1,000 subscribers; the archived stream may default to private. That audience limitation is not the phone-number verification cap.
Troubleshoot the error you are seeing
| What happened | What to check | What to try |
|---|---|---|
| YouTube says the number has been used too many times | Whether the number has already been associated with two channels during the relevant year | Use an eligible number. YouTube’s guidance does not establish an exact reset date or say that deleting a channel restores a slot. |
| The code does not arrive, or verification fails with a generic error | Whether your carrier supports Google text messages or automated voice calls | Try voice call instead of SMS, or try a number from a different carrier that has not reached the channel limit. TeamYouTube identifies carrier support as a possible cause; this does not establish that any particular carrier or country is unsupported. |
| Phone verification succeeded, but you still cannot start a live stream | Live-stream restrictions in the previous 90 days and whether streaming is turned on; for mobile, check subscriber count, device compatibility, and first-time activation | Review the general and mobile requirements above. Allow up to 24 hours for first mobile activation. |
If the problem persists, TeamYouTube recommends contacting Creator Support. Its guidance does not promise that support can override the phone-number limit.

Or let it run in the cloud
