To stream recorded Marathi sermons continuously on YouTube with FFmpeg, create or schedule a broadcast in YouTube Studio’s Live Control Room, copy that broadcast’s current ingestion URL and stream key, then configure FFmpeg to send your recording to that endpoint. For continuous playback, you must also handle looping and recovery from interruptions, and test the result: the official documentation does not provide a complete YouTube-specific loop command or guarantee seamless audio at file boundaries.
Prepare the recording and YouTube broadcast
Check the sermon file
Before configuring FFmpeg, identify the file’s duration and its audio and video streams. Decide whether you intend to repeat one recording or rotate among several; a continuous broadcast needs a playback plan, not just an encoder connection. Test the loop boundary for silence, abrupt transitions, or a pause in audio. The result can depend on the file and installed FFmpeg build, so validate your own material rather than assuming every recording will loop seamlessly.
Create or schedule the live event
- In YouTube Studio, open Live Control Room and create or schedule a stream. A scheduled stream can be promoted, and YouTube creates its watch page when the encoder starts sending content. See YouTube’s encoder setup instructions.
- In the event’s encoder settings, copy the current server or ingestion URL and stream key. Treat the key like a password: anyone with it may be able to send video to your channel’s stream.
- Use the values shown for this specific stream. YouTube’s API supports RTMP, including RTMPS, as well as HLS and DASH ingestion, and exposes primary and optional backup ingestion addresses. The protocol and addresses available to you depend on the configured stream; do not reuse an endpoint from an old tutorial as if it were universal. See YouTube’s liveStreams API reference.
Configure FFmpeg for the YouTube endpoint
FFmpeg must read your recording and send an audio/video output compatible with the ingestion endpoint YouTube provides. Keep the stream key out of public scripts, screenshots, and shared logs. If you use a script or service manager, restrict access to its configuration because it contains a sending credential.
There is no single looped-sermon command established by the official passages cited here. FFmpeg options vary by build, input format, output protocol, and YouTube’s current endpoint configuration. Build and verify the input-loop and output settings against the FFmpeg documentation for your installed version and the exact endpoint shown in Live Control Room. In particular, confirm that your setup repeats the media input rather than merely reconnecting the output; those are different behaviors.

- Set the input to the sermon recording and configure the intended repeat behavior for that file and your FFmpeg version.
- Configure the output using the current YouTube ingestion URL and stream key, with an output format and protocol compatible with that endpoint.
- Map the intended video and audio streams, then check the output’s resolution, frame rate, and audio before relying on it. Use a short test to confirm that both tracks reach YouTube and that the file boundary behaves acceptably.
- Start FFmpeg and wait for the preview in Live Control Room. Review YouTube’s stream health and any configuration warnings before making the stream public or leaving it unattended.
Handle disconnections and continuous operation
Looping media does not protect the connection. FFmpeg documents reconnection controls and a FIFO muxer pattern that can attempt to recover an RTMP output. These controls may help with temporary output failures, but they do not guarantee recovery from every persistent error or prevent YouTube from interrupting the viewer-facing broadcast. Test recovery deliberately before unattended use. Check whether FFmpeg resumes sending after a temporary network or output failure, whether YouTube still receives a healthy feed, and whether your playback resumes where expected. Keep an eye on the process and Live Control Room during initial operation; a reconnecting encoder is not the same thing as a confirmed, healthy public broadcast.

Plan broadcasts and archives for an all-day feed
YouTube distinguishes a broadcast—the watchable event and distinct video—from a stream, the audio/video delivery settings. Its API guide describes reusing a stream for recurring broadcasts and gives an example of a 24/7 feed with a second, simultaneous broadcast for a subset of that feed. These are API resource patterns, not a guarantee that a basic FFmpeg setup will automatically create or maintain the event arrangement your channel needs. YouTube Help says streams under 12 hours are automatically archived. Do not assume an arbitrarily long 24/7 transmission will produce one complete replay. If archives matter, plan how the channel will handle broadcast events and saved recordings, and verify the resulting videos in YouTube Studio.

Troubleshoot common problems
- YouTube does not show a preview: Recheck that FFmpeg is using the current server URL and key for the event you opened. Confirm the endpoint protocol and address against that event’s settings, then inspect Live Control Room for health or configuration messages.
- The stream starts but stops at the end of the sermon: Output reconnection settings do not loop an input file. Verify the input-repeat behavior for your FFmpeg build, then run a short test across the recording’s end.
- The stream reconnects but playback is not continuous: Recovery options address output errors, not necessarily the media loop or YouTube broadcast state. Check the encoder process, YouTube’s health feedback, and the file boundary separately.
- Audio or video is missing or unexpected: Inspect the recording’s available tracks and the streams FFmpeg maps to the output. Test with the actual file and confirm both tracks in YouTube’s preview before relying on the feed.
- The archive is incomplete or absent after a very long stream: The documented automatic archive rule covers streams under 12 hours; it is not a promise of one complete replay for an all-day broadcast. Use a broadcast and archive plan appropriate to the channel’s needs.
