If you need a replacement for URL2PNG, start by matching the service to your capture workload: ScreenshotNeo is the first alternative to try for a focused screenshot API, while Browserless or Playwright make more sense when screenshots are part of a wider browser-automation system. Other managed options include ScreenshotOne, Urlbox, ApiFlash and Microlink. Their published features and quotas differ, and no comparative performance testing establishes a universal winner.
How to choose a URL2PNG alternative
A website screenshot API renders a page in a browser and returns an image or, for some services, a PDF. The practical differences are browser behavior, capture controls, quota accounting and how much infrastructure your team wants to operate.

Check the target page behavior
- JavaScript and delayed content: determine whether the page needs scripts to finish, a delay, a selector to appear or network idle before capture.
- Lazy-loaded assets: for a full-page image, check whether the service scrolls the page to trigger images and other deferred content. ScreenshotOne says it does this for full-page captures.
- Interactions: if a page requires a click, custom headers, cookies or authentication, verify the exact controls and plan availability before switching.
Match the output and capture area
Confirm support for viewport, full-page or element captures, and whether you need PNG, JPEG, WebP, PDF or HTML-to-image rendering. Mobile and device-size options also vary. Do not assume a feature shown on a vendor site is included in every tier.
Compare actual quota economics
Look beyond the headline monthly price. Check what counts as a render, how cache hits and cache misses are treated, request rates, concurrency and overages. ScreenshotOne says successful, non-cached requests count toward quota; its pricing page notes a cache miss can trigger a rerender and count. Published prices and feature tiers can change.

Best URL2PNG alternatives
This is a criteria-led shortlist, not a lab-tested performance ranking. Vendor descriptions and prices below reflect pages accessed October 3, 2026; confirm current terms before choosing a plan.
1. ScreenshotNeo — focused screenshot API with clean captures
ScreenshotNeo is a website screenshot API and MCP server for developers. It accepts a URL in a single GET request and can return PNG, JPEG, WebP or PDF. Before capture, it accepts the cookie or consent banner like a visitor and removes more than 60 known consent platforms, newsletter popups and chat widgets; each cleanup step can be disabled. Bot checks or CAPTCHAs, blank pages, timeouts, failed loads and cache hits are not billed, and response headers identify the page verdict and billing status.
Capture options include full-page and CSS-selector element captures, dark mode, device presets and arbitrary viewports, retina scale, PDF page settings, HTML/CSS input, custom CSS and JavaScript, clicking before capture, hiding selectors, wait conditions, request blocking, custom headers and cookies, user agent and authorization, timezone and geolocation, transparent backgrounds, resizing, configurable caching, signed image links, asynchronous jobs with signed webhooks, bulk capture of up to 100 URLs per call, usage API and OpenAPI specification. Parameter names used by other screenshot APIs also work to ease switching. Its MCP server provides take_screenshot, get_page_info and capture_pdf for Claude, Cursor and other MCP clients.
Plans include 1,000 shots/month free with no card; Starter is $5 for 3,000, Growth $15 for 15,000, Pro $39 for 60,000, Scale $99 for 250,000 and Business $249 for 1,000,000. Yearly billing gives two months free, and every feature is available on every plan.
2. ScreenshotOne — managed rendering with documented capture controls
ScreenshotOne advertises image, PDF and HTML rendering, full-page captures and integrations. It says full-page captures scroll to trigger lazy-loaded assets. Its pricing page listed Basic at $17/month for 2,000 screenshots, Growth at $79/month for 10,000 and Scale at $259/month for 50,000 when accessed October 3, 2026; the vendor says prices exclude VAT. It also lists 100 free screenshots per month. Its quota rules distinguish successful non-cached requests, and cache misses may cause a counted rerender. The displayed 99.955% uptime figure was a vendor-reported rolling 30-day figure on that date, not an independently audited annual statistic.
3. Urlbox — tiers for different rendering needs
Urlbox separates Lo-Fi screenshots, Hi-Fi rendering and Ultra for complex rendering scenarios. Its page listed Lo-Fi at $19/month for up to 2,000 renders, Hi-Fi at $49/month for up to 5,000, and Ultra at $99/month for up to 15,000 when accessed October 3, 2026; prices exclude VAT. Quotas, request rates, privacy and capture features differ by tier, so verify that the particular control you need is included.
4. Browserless — for screenshots within broader browser automation
Browserless describes screenshot and PDF capture through an API, as well as browser automation using Puppeteer and Playwright connections. It may fit when your team needs managed browser infrastructure for more than a single screenshot endpoint. Its page displayed a free plan of 1,000 units per month and two concurrent browsers at research time; confirm what a unit represents and current concurrency limits on the live plan page.
5. ApiFlash — conventional hosted screenshot endpoint
ApiFlash lists PNG, JPEG and WebP output, full-page and mobile screenshots, ad blocking, cookie-banner hiding and S3 export. Its pricing page showed 100 monthly screenshots free, then $7/month for 1,000, $35/month for 10,000 and $180/month for 100,000 when accessed October 3, 2026. These are vendor-listed plan figures, not a guarantee of current availability or terms.

Migration checklist
- Inventory the current captures: record target URLs, viewport sizes, full-page versus element captures, output formats, authentication needs and timing requirements.
- Choose representative pages: include a JavaScript-heavy page, one with lazy images, a consent banner, a page behind authentication and any unusual long or responsive layout.
- Match controls before comparing cost: verify the replacement supports the capture area, waits, headers, cookies and output you rely on.
- Test output and edge cases: inspect dimensions, clipping, missing assets, consent overlays, blank or blocked responses, and any PDF pagination requirements.
- Model the real quota: check success and cache accounting, request limits, concurrency and overages against your expected volume.
- Switch gradually: run a small parallel sample if practical, compare results for your own pages, then update the integration and monitor returned status or billing signals.
Or skip the browser setup
Use ScreenshotNeo’s one-call endpoint when you want a managed capture without running a browser. The cURL example saves a WebP screenshot of Stripe:
curl -G "https://api.screenshotneo.com/v1/shot" -d access_key=YOUR_API_KEY --data-urlencode url=https://stripe.com -o shot.webp

The screenshot is blank or incomplete
Check whether the page depends on JavaScript or delayed network content, then configure an appropriate wait condition. For lazy images, verify the provider’s full-page behavior; some systems scroll the page to trigger them. Check also for authentication, bot checks and resource blocking that may prevent the page from rendering.
Cookie overlays or popups cover the page
Confirm the chosen service offers the cleanup or interaction you need and that it is available on your plan. If you use custom CSS to hide an overlay, make sure it does not hide important page content as well.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minute2Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problems3Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitchesRank #3
The returned capture is clipped or the wrong size
Distinguish viewport screenshots from full-page and element captures. Verify viewport dimensions, device scale or retina settings, and selector accuracy; a selector that matches nothing can yield an unexpected result.
Usage is higher than expected
Review how the API counts successful requests, cache hits and misses, retries and failures. ScreenshotOne, for example, says successful non-cached requests count and a cache miss can trigger a counted rerender. Also compare your planned volume with rate limits and concurrency rather than relying only on the monthly allowance.
A plan appears to include a feature, but your request cannot use it
Check the precise tier, request limits and feature conditions on the vendor’s current page. Urlbox explicitly differentiates features and limits by tier, and plan pages may change after the figures above were accessed.
Reliability, performance and cost considerations
No comparative benchmark or independent study in the reviewed sources establishes which option is fastest, most reliable or highest quality. Provider feature descriptions and any uptime figure are vendor statements, not head-to-head validation. Before committing, test the pages and volume that matter to your application and examine any applicable service terms directly.
