To repeat a Wirecast playlist, set its end behavior to Loop. When the final shot finishes, Wirecast returns to the first shot. If an individual clip also needs to restart at its own end, set that clip’s When Finished behavior to Loop in Source Properties. These are separate controls.
Set the playlist to repeat

Add your video clips to a Wirecast playlist, then check that they are in the intended order.

Open the playlist’s end-behavior control and select Loop. This makes playback return to the first shot after the last shot finishes. Selecting Hold instead leaves the playlist on its last shot.

For any clip that should restart at its own end, open that clip’s Source Properties and set When Finished to Loop.

Play through the playlist and verify that the final shot returns to the first. Test individual clips whose end behavior matters as well.
The detailed control descriptions are in Telestream’s Wirecast 13 Windows user guide. Telestream lists Wirecast 16.5.4, released September 16, 2026, as its current public version; the guide confirms the behavior, but control placement or labels may differ in your installed release. Look for the controls by function and confirm them in the documentation for your version.

Make sure live streaming is enabled on your YouTube channel. YouTube says first-time enablement may take up to 24 hours, so do not leave it until just before the planned stream.

In YouTube Studio’s Live Control Room, create or schedule a stream and obtain the encoder connection details, including the stream key. Treat the key as a secret: anyone with access to it may be able to broadcast to your stream.

Enter YouTube’s encoder details in Wirecast and select the stream’s video and audio sources. YouTube’s encoder setup guide lists Wirecast as an encoder option.

Use YouTube’s preview in Live Control Room to check the picture and sound before starting the broadcast. Test the connection and a complete playlist cycle before relying on it for a long-running stream.

Once live, monitor audio and video quality. A playlist set to loop automates the sequence; it does not monitor or guarantee the health of the computer, network, encoder, or YouTube connection.
Choose stable encoder and network settings
Use settings supported by your chosen video format, frame rate, upload connection, and YouTube’s current guidance. YouTube supports H.264, HEVC, and AV1 for RTMP/RTMPS ingestion and recommends RTMPS for encrypted ingest. Check its current live encoder settings, bitrates, and resolutions rather than assuming one resolution or bitrate fits every stream.

YouTube’s live streaming tips recommend upload bandwidth with 20% headroom beyond the stream bitrate. This is YouTube’s recommendation, not a guarantee that a connection will remain stable. Test under the conditions in which you plan to stream, and leave capacity for other devices and network activity.

Troubleshoot a playlist that stops or fails to reach YouTube

The sequence stops on the last shot: Check the playlist’s end behavior. If it is set to Hold, change it to Loop.

A clip does not restart at its own end: Check that clip’s Source Properties and set When Finished to Loop if you want that clip to restart. Playlist behavior and clip behavior are independent.

YouTube does not show a preview: Confirm the channel is enabled for live streaming, the encoder connection details are correct, and Wirecast is sending. First-time YouTube live enablement may take up to 24 hours.

The stream is unstable or the picture and sound degrade: Test the connection, check that actual upload capacity has the recommended headroom, and review the selected encoder settings against YouTube’s guidance. Monitor the Live Control Room preview and live stream.
