You can turn recorded physics experiments and lessons into a continuous YouTube Live feed by playing them through an encoder connected to YouTube Live Control Room. Create or schedule a broadcast, give the encoder YouTube’s server URL and stream key, preview the feed, then start the broadcast. A 24/7 stream takes ongoing playback, monitoring, and recovery planning—and it is not a dependable archive: YouTube says streams exceeding 12 hours may not be captured at all.
What a 24/7 stream does—and does not do
A continuous stream plays existing recordings as a live broadcast. Viewers arriving at different times see whatever lesson is currently playing; unless you schedule separate broadcasts, they cannot choose a lesson as they would from a set of on-demand videos.
YouTube’s Live Streaming API distinguishes the broadcast event from the stream settings used to transmit video. That distinction is useful operationally: the event is what viewers find on YouTube, while the encoder sends a signal using the stream configuration. For a robust educational channel, treat the live feed and the lesson archive as separate products. Keep master recordings and publish individual lessons or shorter recordings for replay, search, and classroom use.

Check channel eligibility and set up Live Control Room
YouTube’s current live-stream eligibility guidance says a channel must be verified, must not have had a live-stream restriction in the previous 90 days, and the streamer must be at least 16. Age-related requirements can vary by circumstance, so check YouTube’s current guidance for the account and region before planning a launch. YouTube Help: Get started with live streaming
- Sign in to the YouTube channel that will host the lessons and complete channel verification if needed.
- Open YouTube Studio and enter Live Control Room. If live streaming has not previously been enabled, follow the on-screen activation steps; access may not be immediate.
- Choose to schedule a stream if you want a public event page and a preview period before the feed begins. Otherwise, create a stream when you are ready to configure it.
- Set the audience designation accurately, write a clear title and description, and select the visibility and start-time options appropriate to your channel.

Prepare the recordings as a lesson sequence
Use recordings you own or are authorized to stream. Before building a long playlist, review the complete files and arrange them so the sequence makes sense to a viewer who may join midway.
- Make the sequence legible: use descriptive lesson titles or brief on-screen title cards, and avoid relying on an introduction that appears only once at the beginning of a loop.
- Check sound and transitions: confirm narration is audible, remove accidental dead air or abrupt cutoffs, and listen for levels that change sharply between recordings.
- Check picture shape and captions: review aspect ratios, letterboxing or cropping, and caption accuracy. Do not assume captions embedded in a recording will be available as selectable YouTube captions.
- Review the experiments: explain the setup, observation, and interpretation accurately. For demonstrations involving heat, electricity, chemicals, pressure, projectiles, or other hazards, use appropriate lab-safety guidance rather than improvising safety advice.
- Keep the source files: retain a local master for every lesson and document the order of the playlist so it can be restored after a failure.
Do not use a single fixed bitrate recommendation without matching YouTube’s current encoder guidance to the chosen resolution and frame rate. The sources here do not establish one required encoder application, computer, or hosting configuration for prerecorded 24/7 playback; choose an encoder that can reliably play your sequence and transmit to YouTube, then test the exact setup.

Connect an encoder and start the broadcast
- Create or open the event in Live Control Room. For a scheduled broadcast, use the event’s encoder setup and preview options.
- Copy the server URL and stream key shown by YouTube. Enter them in the encoder’s streaming output settings. Treat the stream key as a password: anyone with access to it may be able to send video to your channel. Do not publish it or include it in screenshots.
- Select the playlist or media sequence. Configure the encoder to play the recordings in the intended order and repeat them if continuous looping is your goal.
- Start the encoder output and check the incoming preview. Confirm picture, sound, titles, and playback order in Live Control Room before making the event live.
- Start the broadcast from Live Control Room when ready. An encoder sending video and a public broadcast event are related but separate pieces; confirm the event itself is live rather than assuming that starting playback alone makes it public.
Keep the exact setup notes: playlist order, encoder settings, server configuration, recovery steps, and who can access the stream key. Avoid sharing the key when asking for help; regenerate it in YouTube if it is exposed.
Plan continuity, monitoring, and recovery
A 24/7 feed depends on the entire playback and transmission chain, not just the YouTube event. With a local encoder, the computer, storage, power, cooling, network, and playback software all need to keep working. These are production considerations, not additional YouTube eligibility rules.

- Run a full-length test of the actual playlist before launch, including the transition from the final item back to the first.
- Check that the computer will not sleep, restart for updates, run out of storage, or overheat during sustained playback.
- Use a dependable network connection with upload capacity appropriate to the encoder’s chosen output, and monitor for dropped frames or interruptions.
- Decide who checks the live preview and what they should do if playback stalls, audio disappears, or YouTube stops receiving the feed.
- Write down restart steps, keep source media accessible, and test recovery after an encoder restart or connection interruption.
No consumer computer or hosting arrangement should be assumed to provide uninterrupted uptime. A stream may need attention even when the playlist itself is correct.

Record the output locally if you need a complete copy of the continuous feed, and preserve the original individual lesson files as well. For dependable on-demand access, upload each lesson separately with its own title, description, and captions. DVR can let viewers pause or rewind while a stream is live, but the available rewind range and behavior may be limited on very long streams; verify current YouTube settings if DVR is important to the teaching plan.
Rights, safety, and monetization
Clear every recording and soundtrack
YouTube says all live streams are scanned for matches to third-party content. If a match is detected, YouTube may replace the feed temporarily and can interrupt or terminate the stream. A license does not necessarily prevent interruption if the rights holder has not allowlisted the channel in Content ID. Do not assume repetition qualifies for monetization
YouTube’s monetization policies apply to live streams. They require original, authentic content with viewer value; highly repetitive or mass-produced programming may be ineligible. A loop of educational recordings is not automatically disqualified, but repeating the same material without meaningful variation or value can put eligibility at risk.
